February 7, 200620 yr BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN star JAKE GYLLENHAAL is being touted as Gotham City district attorney HARVEY DENT in the next BATMAN sequel, along with PAUL BETTANY, who may play the JOKER. Gyllenhaal would play Gotham City's good-guy lawyer, who mutates into his alter-ego, TWO-FACE, in the third film. In the sequel, BATMAN would team with Harvey Dent to destroy the Joker, according to moviehole.net. TOMMY LEE JONES formerly played Dent/Two-Face on the big screen in BATMAN + ROBIN. Director CHRIS NOLAN is set to return, along with CHRISTIAN BALE, KATIE HOLMES, GARY OLDMAN and MICHAEL CAINE. http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.ns...tman_06_02_2006
February 7, 200620 yr I thought Jason Lee would be a perfect Joker, but maybe Bettany can do it. He plays a baddie in that new Harrison Ford flick. Who knows...I do like him as an actor, but I've only ever see him play 'good' roles. They definitely surprised everyone with Cillian Murphy as the Scarecrow... Jake I'm having a much harder time accepting in a Batman role...I just can't see it working, but again--who knows. Everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves worthy...This would be it!
February 7, 200620 yr Bettany could do the Joker thing... However, Gyllenhaal as Harvey Dent? He seems too young. I also hope that they don't turn him into Two-Face yet.
February 7, 200620 yr TOMMY LEE JONES formerly played Dent/Two-Face on the big screen in BATMAN + ROBIN. That's not right.
February 7, 200620 yr Hmmmm... I don't like Gyllenhaal as Dent. At awl, but oh well, movie doesn't come out for two years. I didn't think Katie Holmes would be back, however, as it was reported the studio was pissed in her cross-country campaign for the movie she didn't talk about Batman once and spent the whole time trying to prove to the world Tom Cruise isn't gay.

February 7, 200620 yr TOMMY LEE JONES formerly played Dent/Two-Face on the big screen in BATMAN + ROBIN. That's not right. Why not? Jones was in "Batman Forever".
February 7, 200620 yr TOMMY LEE JONES formerly played Dent/Two-Face on the big screen in BATMAN + ROBIN. That's not right. Why not? Jones was in "Batman Forever". No, because I distinctly remember Jim Carrey in the same movie as Jones...And in one of the final scenes, Val Kilmer has to choose to save either Chris O'Donnell (ROBIN) or Nicole Kidman. So it had to be Batman and Robin. Also, remember Jones with his tommy-gun henchmen killed O'Donnell's circus family and that's how he ended up joining with Bruce. UNLESS, that was Batman Forever and the most recent one by Schumacker was Batman and Robin (Clooney?) I don't know, just trying to sound smart and stuff. Nevermind you are right.
February 7, 200620 yr Author Gyllenhaal can play someone who becomes manical...He was awesome in Donnie Darko and he showed alot of range in Jarhead.

February 8, 200620 yr Batman & Robin and Batman Forever sort of combine together into one big mess anyway. I can never remember which is worse. Thank goodness Nolan came over & rescued things.

Thank goodness Nolan came over & rescued things. ive never even seen all of batman and robin, i learned my lesson after watching all of batman forever. cant wait for this sequel to come out. dont know any of these actors but whatever, they did a great job casting the first one so i trust them.

February 8, 200620 yr its funny how noone disses the best batman well i atleast in my mind.... Michael Keaton is the best batman and batman 1 and batman returns were good movies... but i just cant put american psycho under the bat mask even if he did pull it off rather well.....
February 8, 200620 yr Wait I thought they were going to ditch Katie Holmes for Batman 2? they should. And I agree with the posts above that while Bale was terrific, Keaton also did a good job as Batman. Great thing is that no one expected it. People thought it was the strangest choice at the time back then. it was like "wait, MR. MOM???!!"
February 8, 200620 yr I thought Christian Bale was brilliant as Batman. He was solid in BOTH roles [batman/Bruce Wayne] unlike the previous guys. Paul Bettany would probably be a better choice for Joker than Jack. We'll see, that's a tough role to play. You have to show that you can see the humor and take incredible pleasure in killing. Really tough. PS - I hope they kill Rachel Dawes off about 30 seconds into the movie. She brings about as much to the screen and story as Jar Jar Binks... Oh wait - she did have that THO scene at the end. :thumbdown
February 8, 200620 yr Anyone who still compared Bale to American Psycho is dumb. It was a good role. It was a little different from Batman (don't get me wrong Bateman and Wayne have some similar qualities). The scenes where Bale had to just be Wayne and act like an idiot were some of the better ones (Wayne shows up to a business meeting with two models in his Lamborghini, Wayne throws a birthday party and has to pretend to be drunk to get everyone to leave).
February 8, 200620 yr I thought Bale did a great job capturing the right emotions and attitude following the many hectic sequences. And I thought Katie Holmes did a good job too--just don't see how the lead female in Batman should be in two movies.
February 8, 200620 yr I thought Katie Holmes did a good job too OMG - were you watching the same movie as me? She is a waste of film. Maybe I am just still skeeved out by the whole Katie Holmes/Tom Cruise Hollywood Psycho Child Molester Couple vibe... I.HATE.KATIE.HOLMES.DOT.COM.

Ya, it is hard sometimes to judge actors when you have a personal vendetta against them.
