I'm sitting here, wondering about this game. Is this something we could possibly get used to? Or is this something we should remember for a while because a game like this isn't going to happen often for this team...

Time will only tell, but you gotta think this game has been great for the confidence of the club.

I say this team will put up a good fight every night.

 

I don't think we can look forward to this many runs tho. Most of these guys are good prospect hitters. Scouts will do their thing, and pitchers will adjust.

I have a feeling we're going to experience a lot of one and two run losses along the way, which will be frustrating, but the pitching will keep us in games. Hopefully the offense can keep performing like this against guys like AP, but obviously it's not likely.

I'd just like to see us hit consistently for a change. I believe they will for the most part.

The two games played so far have been total opposites.

 

Hopefully they won't look like over-matched rookies like they did in the opener, and I know they won't look like superstars like they did today.

If our pitching continues to pitch the way they are we will be a very good team this year. Even if they fall off I think our hitting will keep us in a lot of games. Hanley, Hermida, Cabrera, Willingham, and Jacobs will give us more than enough run support.

I think there is no way to know. The team needs to go into each game thinking about only that game and putting up a fight in that game. I think the hitting will be there, Willingham, Jacobs, Cabrera...they can hit. The problem will be in the bullpen and defense. Today they showed that they won't lay down. If the team can win a couple in a row to start off the year...you never know. :mischief2

I don't think you can expect a lineup full of rookies to hit consistently.

I wouldn't be so sure.....the rookies in this lineup are known for being patient. Hermida and Willingham were two of the five most patient hitters in the Minors last season if not the most patient two.....tack on Jacobs and Ramirez who have been patient so far and you've got a good recipe. The only questions of consistency will come from the bottom of the lineup, where we have a much higher willingness to swing at anything thrown.

Still, you cannot EXPECT a lineup full of rookies to be consistent. That's only achieved by the very top lineups in the league. This may be semantics though.
