So all off season I've been checking up on a thread the members of SoSH.com have going on the recent renovations Fenway has undergone. Here are some of the changes...

Also the suttle touches.

Amazing job. :notworthy

Wow, those are some pretty awesome changes. It took a couple views for me to notice some stuff, but it's really sharp looking. I'd love to see a game there and just be a complete douche. I just want to try a Fenway Frank and sit in a piece of baseball history.

I liked it much better then Yankee Stadium and Wrigley.

You'd last 0.6 seconds. My dad wore a bunch of Yankee crap in there last year when we saw Toronto and got chastised to no end and he is calm.

Hopefully I'll get to get up there this summer again for the 3rd year in a row but it's doubtful.

I cant wait to visit Fenway someday. Thanks for posting the awesome pictures(the # of stadiums I've been to is low...County Stadium in Milwaukee, Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati, Wrigley Field and US Cellular in Chicago, Kaufman Stadium in Kansas City, and of course the hundreds of times I've been to the old Busch Stadium)

Wow, that is nice. My dorm is like 4 or 5 blocks from Fenway and I hadnt even noticed. Also, i've never been inside, and it seems it is gonna stay like that for this year since i got no tickets :( .

Do you go to BU?

:mischief2

I live 5 blocks from fenway as well, but I didnt notice the changes. I dont really like the redsox, but I will admit I do like being able to walk to games. I also like the patriots day game because all the bars near the stadium are open at 8am.

Next year they're going to be freezing the field during the winter and turning it into a hockey rink and will be playing a actual Boston University vs. Boston College hockey game, it's going to be awesome.

I dont believe that has been confirmed. I know that BU made the announcement but Fenway officials said not so fast.... It would be awesome though, hopefully they do it

It's a nice place to be around during games, very lively, a lot of people. And during games vs the Yankees it is even crazier. My friend walked over there wiht a Jeter shirt and he got heckled, we thought they were going to bash his brains in with a bat haha. Cool days.

Its really cool around there during games. After games newbury street gets packed with people. I cant wait a few more weeks when it gets warmer and all the out door seating is open. Although tomorrow it might get to 70!

ive been to Fenway...very nice stadium...it has a lot of flavor

I've been there. The atmosphere is great, but.......... anyone over 5'10" is gonna have a real challenge sitting in those seats. The seating areas were manufactured over 80 years ago when people were a lot shorter. (bangs knees into seatback). And the restrooms are (well) pretty antiquated. The cheapest seats (deep RF) were priced at $30 in 1999.

I asked some locals what they thought and they said "Tear it down. Modernize. Add more seats. Good riddance". Needless to say, I was quite surprised, but I can see their points. (After all, they tore down the sacred Boston Garden over ten years ago). Anyway, there was actually a plan to build a bigger Fenway replica right next door with a new Green Monster and everything - it was priced at $750,000,000 five years ago. Not sure what happened.

Anyway - see it while you can. The internal infrastructure is pretty shaky, and I don't think it will be there anymore soon (like in 10 years).

Thats not true about the cheapest seats. You can actually get 12 dollar seats when they go on sale but they sell out quickly. The rest of the bleachers are all 23. Grandstand is 27. Thats about 7,000 or more seats at less than 30 dollars.

As for the second bolded statement... My friends who are season ticket holders would like a new stadium because they are the ones going every game. The people who only go once or twice a year are the ones who want to keep it. If they were going every game they would change their minds. I have gone to about 20 redsox games the past 3 years and I am not a fan of the stadium. The seats are very small and there arent enough consession stands or bathrooms.

The Red Sox have already said they intend on staying at Fenway for the next 20-30 years. The park is in the midst of a major renovation project that is expected to cost more than $100M. They will expand capacity by 10% and gut parts of the internal structure to modernize it. The Fenway Park II plan was scrapped 3 years ago.

I would almost guarantee the opinion of the majority of the locals is to not get rid of Fenway.

Like Festa said. The organization has commited to the Park for a long time (words were generations to come).

Once they decided to spend on the renovations, that ment there would be no more stadium for a long time. However they have pretty much expanded as much as possible. So the stadium will stay the current size for a while.

The majority of the locals want to keep it because they dont go to games everyday.

the improvements look okay ..but i like the older look for fenway it looks weird seeing the "Fenway Park"

sign modernized ....fenway's one park i would hate to see torn down

I went to Fenway a few years ago. It was the most uncomfortable I've ever been in a baseball game, but I was in complete awe the entire time. I loved it.

You live 4 or 5 blocks away from Fenway and have never been inside? And you call yourself a baseball fan? Most of us would kill for a chance to see a game there.

ive been to about 10 or so games in fenway and i really like the atmosphere and thats about it, the seats are tiny...then fans all reak of booze or are in shirt and tie...not living in Boston, its a pain to get to fenway unless you take the train in...also and i know its nit picky...but the net covers covers up the people sitting behind the plate making it impossible to get a foul ball back there...oh yeah...and seats are wayyyyyyyy expensive...my friends had to go on ebay to get bleacher tickets...40 bucks...which just makes going to the game not worth it
