April 10, 200620 yr Tell me Howie Kendrick and Kotchman for Willis and Jacobs.....let's talk Tell me Carlos Quentin and Conor Jackson for Willis and Jacobs...let's talk Lester and Papelbon for Willis? Let's talk. Hansen? No thanks. Still...I'd rather keep Willis here. Why is Jacobs suddenly involved? Because Willis would not net us two Top 20 prospects on his own. And if you bring in someone like Kotchman, Jacobs becomes expendable. I like Jacobs...simply throwing out names that would be upgrades. I wouldnt be so sure about that..

April 10, 200620 yr man the fish would lose sooo many more fans if willis was traded.....i heard the # of season ticket holders went down from 8500 to 3500..can't afford to lose too many more..dontrelle's salary is 4.5 million as of this season (??) and his salary will shoot up some more after arbitration after this season...
April 11, 200620 yr At this point the only way either Dontrelle or Miguel is traded is straight up for King Felix or Pujols.
April 11, 200620 yr I got news for you Holly and Gents, if Willis or Cabs is traded then you better see if those season ticks are transferable to San Antonio. Yup, I said it! Those two guys are the thing that is keeping Loria and Samson from warming up their packing tape! If you dont think so just sit back and watch..............................

April 11, 200620 yr Edwin Encarnacion, Brandon Claussen, Ryan Freel For Eric Reed? You aren't going to get somebody's entire farm system for Dontrelle. or Homer Bailey Edwin Encarnacion
April 11, 200620 yr Edwin Encarnacion, Brandon Claussen, Ryan Freel For Eric Reed? You aren't going to get somebody's entire farm system for Dontrelle. or Homer Bailey Edwin Encarnacion Not, but we can do alot better than Encarnacion, Claussen, and Freel.

April 11, 200620 yr Willis gets traded and im officially a red sox fan ... regardless or where he goes
April 11, 200620 yr I'm already a minor BoSawx fan by default because Big Tex, Lowell, and Seabass went there.
April 11, 200620 yr Author Willis gets traded and im officially a red sox fan ... regardless or where he goes :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown why not be a D-Rays fan? they're another low budget team in Florida with some great talent. it works for me

April 11, 200620 yr You aren't going to get somebody's entire farm system for Dontrelle. or Homer Bailey Edwin Encarnacion I disagree. The Marlins would ravage a team's young talent. Yankees - P. Hughes, Duncan, Wang, PTBNL, and cash considerations Red Sox - Pedroia, Lester, Hansen/DeClarmen, and PTBNL Angels - Wood/Kendrick, Saunders/Weaver, and a RP Dodgers - R. Martin, Broxton, and D. Young DBacks - Quentin/C. Young, Nippert, Callapso, and another young'en like Mock or Torra Mets - Milledge, Bannister, Soler, and cash considerations DRays - Upton/Delmon, Hammel, and C. Tiffany Indians - Sowers, Shoppach, F. Gutierrez, and PTBNL I can go on, but you get the idea. You'd need to add Denorfia and Chick to your proposal if you want it to be taken seriously, and that's still probably not enough because the Marlins could do better with a lot of other teams that don't have absolutely crappy farm systems like Cincinatti. If Mulder brings Barton, Haren, and Calero, Dontrelle brings more. Some team wanting an ACE under 25 years old, three years controlled at a minimum, and marketability off the charts, would give them whatever they want. It's still probably not a good deal for the Marlins because I can count on my hands how many pitchers I think are better then Dontrelle, and any trade they do is not getting equal value for a SP like that. Players like him should never be traded. The Marlins would have gotten one of those 3 Red Sox players above in addition to Hanley and Anibal if they didn't force Lowell and his contract on the Red Sox. That's how valuable young top line SP is on the market. If he somehow becomes avaliable, it's 3 major pieces to open discussion, and then hope you outbid the Yankees who will stop at nothing to get him.
April 11, 200620 yr Didn't they say essentially the same thing about Hanley? That he was a generic ballplayer made to look extra pretty by where he was developed? BP is so used to playing the role of the "debunker" that they end up being contrary for the sake of being contrary. They soured on Hanley a little because of a dip in double AA stats versus his single A ones, but they still really like him as a prospect. We find Jon Lester, finally, at #25. I?ve beaten this particular horse to death, so let me refer you to what Dave Cameron said about him in a great discussion at U.S.S. Mariner: Lester and Papelbon ? [are] solid, good pitching prospects. But these guys aren?t special. Almost every organization has a guy like Papelbon or Lester. There?s a lot of 90-94 MPH arms with developing secondary pitches and mediocre command running around out there. This is in a nutshell what I?ve been trying to say all along. Papelbon (who ranks even lower) and Lester are solid, grade B pitching prospects. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=4825 I don't know if that says they are generic ballplayers, but he ain't Liriano, Cain, Verlander, Zumaya, Reyes, Sowers, etc. That will be a comical little quote after this season.
April 11, 200620 yr Whoever said that, forgot to add that Lester is a LHP....but I dunno, he may be right because prospects from Boston and NYY seem to get wayyy overhyped.
April 11, 200620 yr Whoever said that, forgot to add that Lester is a LHP....but I dunno, he may be right because prospects from Boston and NYY seem to get wayyy overhyped. Wasn't that the mantra of the Boston media after the BoSox traded Hanley Ramirez? Bring me all the overhyped Ramirez-types you can find, we'll take them.
April 11, 200620 yr If they even try to trade Dontrelle, I will fight to the death to prevent him from leaving. You think I'm kidding, but I'm not. :dwarf
April 11, 200620 yr I dont care if trading dontrelle can get you Ghandi, Michael Jordan and the whole field of dreams team ... bottom line is that it would completely suck the life out of everything south florida had as a MLB team
