I love Helms, but only way I want to see him starting, and it WILL happen, is by them moving Cabrera back to LF/RF, with Helms playing thrid full time.

But then you're taking out either Hermida or Willingham, which wouldn't be smart.

That's simple, move Willingham to Catcher (fulltime), we are trying to mold him anyway, and put Olivo to back him up with occasional starts. Move Treanor for a minor leaguer or keep him and his bat to serve as a pinch hitter, and for double switch situations.

Why replace Jacobs with Helms when we can replace him with Stokes?

 exacally

Don't get me wrong, stokes has upside, but their was a reason the Marlins brought in someone to log-jam the first base position, Jacobs is here for a reason, I am not too high on Stokes.

I don't see how you can laugh at a move that will only help this team now and for the future. Sounds to me that not everyone has their own opinions and just want to agree with Ramp, but it's cool, I am entitled to my own opinion. Everyone is so down on this team, like we can't compete, the bats have been great, the starting pitching is there, we only need bullpen pieces, we act as if we can't have any vets starting. With Helms in the lineup everyday, we not only have a better chance to win, but we still get to develope the guys who matter: Hermida, Willingham (at a rare position), Shades, Jacobs, and we still have Cabrera.

There is absolutely no chance that Miguel Cabrera moves out of 3b unless David Wright or Andy Marte or Andy LaRoche are acquired via trade. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that Josh Willingham will never be a catcher for this team and in fact, Miguel Olivo might be the future catcher of this team. Of course it's only been about 20 games, but his sample size of NL at bats is growing and at this point, he has been a very good NL starting catcher. Of course he wont keep up his current pace of every 12 hits, 8 of them going for extra bases but he certainly likes the NL.

On the defensive front. Miguel Olivo is an absolute dynamo behind home plate(same goes for Matt Treanor). He has an absolute gun, and while Josh Willingham is much much improved behind the plate, there is absolutely no reason for him to be back there. We dont need to have the wear and tear on his body. Let him wander out there in LF, a position which he looks pretty good at, and certainly better game by game.

I dont see how moving Cabrera helps this team for the future. He is soooo much more valuable at 3b than in the OF, and unless one of the previsouly mentioned stud 3b prospects are acquired, you wont see Cabs anywhere but the hotcorner for the rest of his Marlins career. And while I still think this team can hover around .500(yes I enjoy drugs alot), there is no reason for Helms to be getting every day PT over a young guy. That's just plain silly. He is on this team to show some solid leadership off the bench and to get some spot starts here and there.

yeah agree that would make our lineup better but whos gonna play Cf? do i hear Hermy?

Every hitter goes through his struggles and sometimes the only way to get out of it is to keep playing him and showing confidence in him by keep playing him. No reason to replace him with Helms just yet.

How 'bout......NOW

Ummm.......No.

yeah, kinda got me there aswell.

Helms is a good person to have on the bench but We gotta keep Cab on 3rd...Helms plays his role perfectly...If any Stokes would be called up if the team wanted to st Jacobs

No way he gets a start over Jacobs.

well he is gonna make some starts, but I dont think that was the point you were trying to make

He won't replace Jacobs, but sooner or later Girardi will see that this team produces much more when he is in the lineup. He will slot over someone. I was trying to guess who it might be, but I doubt it'll be Jacobs.

I don't see it happening and because of that it doesnt matter whether I think he should or not. The team is developing Jacobs and to bring in a vet doesnt make sense for the franchise at this point.

Maybe Jacobs needs to get some at bats in AAA. He looks very over matched so far

he didn't look overmatched last year..hopefully he'll come around, he's going to be a big part of this franchise for years to come

Yeah thats brilliant. Lets bench are best defensive catcher who is getting hot at the plate.

We need to give Jacobs his at bats at this level---Just a little more slowly, like once a week. First he needs to stop swinging ( and fouling off) every first pitch. Then get rid of that loop in the swing then maybe get him in to two games a week. I know, we need a left handed bat out there who by the way is slower afoot around the bases than maybe Charles Johnson. Good thing he scored yesterday only because rag arm Pierre was bouncing his throws from center after getting about 20 yards of carry. Love the sac fly where both runners moved up on JP.

See that's what concerns me is that loop in his swing. Almost looks like he's trying to put one out every at bat
