At this point, with Danny Graves now available and our disaster in waiting whenever someone steps onto the pitching mound, would you give Graves a look? What have we got to lose?

I understand that he was either released or designated for assignment, which in his case would mean a release since he has no trade value and I doubt that the Indians would take up a minor league roster spot for him.

well we tried to get him last year until he ended up being traded to the Mets and that never worked out. he has had sucess in the closers role in past, hes deff worth a shot imo if it doesnt cost us much. I'm sure Beinfest at least has his eye on him.

What have we got to lose? The little, and I mean very little, self respect this team has left.

A year and half from being decent and he was never a high-strikeout pitcher though

I'm not really sure if the front office wants to take on any additional payroll. They have clearly indicated that they are cost cutting everywhere and so I doubt, even if it is the major league minimum, that they would pick up Graves. I think we will have to ride the relievers we have all season, but if we do pick up a guy like Graves, I'd be all for it.

Exactly....no reason at all to get any veterans at this point. If anything, dump veterans Moe and Herges.

Minor matters: General manager Mark Shapiro said earlier this week that he was hoping designated reliever Danny Graves would clear waivers and head to Triple-A Buffalo, and that's just what happened Thursday.

 

No team made a claim on Graves, who was designated for assignment May 12. In 13 appearances with the Tribe this season, the 32-year-old Graves went 2-1 with a 5.79 ERA.

 

He'll head to Buffalo, where the hope is that consistent work against Minor League hitters will allow him to get more bite on his sinker.

Because he rode a pedestrian strikeout rate, good teams and tons of opportunities to 30 saves a few times. Therefore he's gold forever.

We should not give Baby Graves a chance at this point. Stick with the youth. I'd rather give Resop, Tankersley or Bowyer a chance and see what sticks.
