June 8, 200620 yr No ones forgetting Luis. It's just Uggla is putting up an average on par, is younger, and while he is a downgrade on defense he finally has brought some true HR pop potential to the 2B position. No one is forgetting Luis eh? Luis got 9 votes as oppossed to Uggla's 26. :plain Whats suprising...this year Uggla, according to Bill James, is a better defender so far. (+6 RAA for Uggla, -6 for Castillo).

I love Dan Uggla, but he can not sniff Luis Castillo's defensive prowess and ease.

Uggla might be doing well on the offensive side of the game, but he's not even worthy of holding Castillo's jockstrap when it comes to defense. I can't believe these results...CASTILLO > UGGLA ALWAYS AND FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER AND BEYOND.
June 8, 200620 yr 1B Delgado 2B Uggla SS Ramirez 3B Cabrera LF Cabrera CF Pierre RF Hermida (I don't know why he wasn't an option) ACE Willis Closer Taylor Tankersley
June 8, 200620 yr I love Uggla but 2nd base is a defensive position and Louie was magic with his glove...Uggie is still learning to field the position (no fault of his own), and getting better everyday
June 8, 200620 yr Be reminded that in the ninth inning of yesterday's game it was Uggla's bullet-like relay on a slowly developing doubleplay that ended the game. Is he flashy like Luis? Nope. Does he get the job done? Yes. Does he have more homeruns and steals than Luis? You betcha. Is he hitting for a higher average with more hits, more doubles, triples, runs scored, RBI, HRs, total bases, better OBP, OPS and SLG?????? Yes on all counts. All of us remember the Luis Castillo of 2003 when he played in 152 games. That Luis Castillo is long gone. If I could have back the Luis Castillo of 2003 I'd want him, but he isn't around anymore and his heir apparent is Daniel Cooley Uggla. The king is dead. Long live the king.

June 8, 200620 yr hmm according to the poll results we must clone Miguel Cabrera to put him into left field and 3rd base. To the sciene lab minions! hehehe
June 8, 200620 yr 2006 Uggla > 2005 Castillo Remember Castillo was beat up and did not play the normally outstanding defense he is known for
June 8, 200620 yr Are we comparing 2006 to 2005? Or are we comparing 2006 to the players in their prime?
June 9, 200620 yr 2006 Uggla > 2005 Castillo Remember Castillo was beat up and did not play the normally outstanding defense he is known for Whoa Whoa Whoa. Everybody relax and take a deep breathe. I wasnt comparing this years Uggla to last years Castillo (I forgot this was about this years team and last years team....my bad). I was comparing Luis Castillo the player (as in career) vs Dan Uggla. Uggla is having a better year in 2006 (so far) compared to Luis in 2005. But if anyone tells me that OVERALL Uggla is better than Castillo I may barf on my laptop.
