Now they need a Thundercats movie

  • 2 months later...

Ah, I can't wait. I have tickets for tonight's sneak preview. I will be there and have not looked forward to a movie since Episode I came out, hopefully it's not sh*t like Episode I.

I have gotten ripped on so much for the fandom I've shown in the leadup to this movie, it shall be kickass.

Yeah - THEN a live action movie of The Snorks!

As long as it doesn't suck as hard as Masters of the Universe.

manager friend of mine gave us a midnight showing and let me just say...it lives up to the hype...and megan fox is my new crush...good lord is she hot...very well done

I'm seeing it today at 8pm hopefully.

I'm not a serious fan of the Transformers but I just want to see the movie because the graphics in the previews looked really cool.

Hey, at least I'm honest.

Ok, I'm ready. I have my transformers hat, my best transformers shirt, and yes my transformers underwear is on. I've never gone to an advance showing so this is a first but I'll do it for my favorite pop culture thang. This is going to be sad if this sucks but eh.

I'm at the 8 showing but I'll be there because the theatre I'm going to has the Transformers game on multiple big screen tvs prior to the showing.

Absolutely entertaining film. I was going to say great but I stopped myself because I understand I'm a fanboy who loved it but even if you're a non fan the storyline may be a bit annoying but the action is great and some really great visuals. Reminded me a lot of Independence day. Of course I liked this better but this is coming from a life long fan.

I was in a showing tonight of complete fan boys. I initiated a standing ovation for the title screen and Optimus's speech. Anyway, Bay did this film right, I mean the acting is not great and it's defiantly an explosion before plot movie but it's freaking Transformers what do you expect?

Go see it and be happy you did.

How much knowledge do you need to have of the series to 'get' what is going on rather quickly?

Nothing, it's defiantly made for virgin audiences but their's still a lot of side references that are made for the fanboys but other than that it's real easy to pick up. As long as you go in there expecting it's a movie based on children's toys so it's not going to be Casablanca, I think you'll have a great time.

I think my comparison to Independence Day holds up, if you liked that type of summer movie I think you'll like this. It was just better for me because I was a big fan of the series but I would have enjoyed this movie I think regardless. It may get a bit corny and cheesy and the acting is not great but that's a summer blockbuster for you.

Thanks, that was more for the people that were going with me. I have a base knowledge.

I definitely lower/raise expectations for what type of movie it is. I just want to be entertained and see some good visuals.

I'm not going to lie though I hope this is the best summer blockbuster as all the others have been sh*t or near-sh*t.

one of the best movies I have seen in the past decade. Absolutely amazing, they got everything right from the typical sayings onwards! I was thrilled for it and amazed they did such a good job!

Just saw the movie and.......

Wow. Excellent.

There is no movie out there that has ever lived up to its hype, and this one did.

Edit: Also, you couldn't help but hear people mumbling about a second part to this movie. Since its Michael Bay, i don't think there is gonna be a second part (or a series) for this movie. If there is, it'll probably be sold off to another director/producer.

and we all know what happens to sequels.........

I saw it last night and I loved it. The audience was clapping throughout the entire movie and my brother said the last time he heard clapping like that was during Rocky IV.

Saw it tonight and didn't like it at all, but, you know...different strokes for different folks. I kind of enjoyed the first 30 minutes or so, as I wasn't expecting much anyway...I mean, it was silly and ridiculous and cheesy but whatever...but then it got really annoying. Like all the robots were just annoying. And retarded. And I know I'm asking way too much from a movie like this, but basically nothing any of the characters did in the last hour and a half made any sense. Everything just seemed to come out of left field.

And approaching this movie as it was meant to be approached--that is, as a stupid action movie, where characters' motivations are besides the point--it still didn't work for me. Really, the only action scene was the final scene, and it just went on and on and on. I don't know how long it was, but it felt like 40 minutes or so. I think they could've better spread out the action.

But whatever. People seem to be enjoying this movie. My complaints are pretty much irrelevant. It just didn't work for me.

I guess it was one of those days for you... it's happened to me before. It all has to do with your mood, because seriously... i don't know how any1 cannot like this movie.

I guess its the same reason why i hated the Godfather and every1 seemed to love it... maybe i was on something when i saw that movie.

Well, to be fair, it could've been "one of those days". For one thing, I've been getting up at 5 AM every morning, so going to a 10:20 PM show was probably asking for it. Second, I was probably experiencing a bit of a food coma from all the chicken wings and beer I had just downed at Hooters. I was still digesting that mess by the end of the movie. And third, the theater at Coconut Grove blows. It's been a while since I've gone to a theater without stadium seating, and having to strain my neck to see over the guy in front of me brought back bad memories from my childhood. Also, the theater in which the movie was supposed to be shown had no A/C. It wasn't too hot so we decided to stay. They showed all of the previews and the first 5 minutes or so of the movie, and then the lights go up and some lady is like how would you like to move to another theater with AC. They didn't exactly ask for a show of hands or anything; they just moved us. So, we wait in the hallway for 10 minutes, I have no idea for what--maybe they were still cleaning the theater. Then they let us in. THEN they show a bunch of previews all over again (there was a chorus of boos when we were forced to watch for the 2nd time the preview for that horrible-looking movie with The Rock), and then we have to watch that spiel about the damn cube all over again. And by this time it's past 11 PM. Not to mention--the air was better at first in the 2nd theater, but by the end of the evening it was definitely hotter than the first theater.

So, yeah, an ideal movie-going experience this was not. But my complaints about the movie still hold; maybe I'd have been more forgiving and looked past all that in a different situation.

I saw it yesterday. It was 'aight'.

Definitely the best of the summer blockbusters (sh*t-Man 3, Pirates 3, Shrek 3) that I've seen (not saying much, but still) and it's pretty visually awesome but it had a lot of crappy points.

It was too long and there was one scene and a whole plot line that could have been cut out to me to make it more enjoyable.

The Aussie and her decoding of the sound and Anthony Anderson's bit and then the atrocious scene where they had to rig the computer to send the signal was so bad.

I'd have liked just the Sam/Mikaela (sp) and soldiers storyline with a little bit of the government involvement thrown in

I also hated that random black, hip-hop robot. He sucked.

I did like Shia LaBeouf in this. A lot. Kid is talented as hell and without him or someone in a similar vein the movie would have been a disaster but he kept it together and I really liked his line delivery. The battle scenes are spectacular and really elevated the movie.

Good looking movie, generally entertaining, and the best of the summer blockbusters by a considerable margin. Just needed a lot of fat trimming and tightening of plotlines to be very good.
