Posted June 18, 200618 yr Before the Toronto series I did not really believe that our Marlins were good enough to amount to much. But now I'm a believer. Even with our weakest starting pitcher (Moehler) we were very impressive against a very good Blue Jays team. I know our winning streak won't last forever and that we will not be this "red hot" the rest of the season but I think now we can honestly be considered contenders for the wild card!
June 18, 200618 yr Before the Toronto series I did not really believe that our Marlins were good enough to amount to much. But now I'm a believer. Even with our weakest starting pitcher (Moehler) we were very impressive against a very good Blue Jays team. I know our winning streak won't last forever and that we will not be this "red hot" the rest of the season but I think now we can honestly be considered contenders for the wild card! i think the marlins have 3 advantages on teams...hear me out...1. We are young, and very talented(if people choose to think of us as a triple A all-star team, let them, many a game has been won by so-called superior teams underestimating the other team) 2. We are absolutely stacked with young pitching, that were all very close to major league ready(and imagine if Bowyer can get his control together) 3. We play in a HUUUUGGGGGEEEE Ballpark...The pitchers are sorta realising, hey...i can throw strikes and get outs by just throwing strikes...i see no reason why they cant keep this kinda play up...im not talking about an infinite winning streak or anything...but i see no reason why we couldnt go .500 the rest of the year...and thats including the even so called september wall that young arms seem to hit...plus during this streak, han ram is hitless...cabs hasnt played great and well...you get the idea...we are showing that we are complete job and when guys do their job, good baseball can happen, no matter what age you are :thumbup
June 18, 200618 yr If our great pitching continues, we will be in every game and right now they are playing with confidence and they are playing baseball the right way. Plus, not everybody is hot right now, imagine how bad it can get for our opponents when every body is on fire. This team is on fire and who knows how long it will last. But, hopefully it can last for a long time. They are keeping the game simple and about fundementals, you cant lose that way. :thumbup
June 18, 200618 yr im seeing like a 4-4 or a 4-5 kinda game from han ram when he breaks out...look out for that...and wait for a cabs 2 or 3 homer night...and josh willingham is coming back...and im fine with those guys(ross, abercrombie) plus amezaga playing center field being our outfield til something better comes along whenever that is...lets sweep em and send a message
June 18, 200618 yr i was more thinking the 17 out of 23...not half bad...most people have us only winning 50 games this year...this team is going to turn some heads by the end of this year...they will be frightened and praying for rain by nect year
June 18, 200618 yr I still think we will only win 75 games but the way our starting rotation is pitching and with the Sandlot Kidz ready to close out any lead literally anything is possible. We are 17-6 in our last 23 games that a winning percentage of .739 What is incredible is that the team is not really hitting that well except for Jake and Uggla. However we are getting timely hitting. That is what winning teams do....I am definitely at awe with all the possibilities
June 18, 200618 yr u should always believe in ur team no matter what. this is after all the game of baseball and anything is possible. were just showing good maturity we keep playing like this and we'll be contenders quicker then u think.

June 19, 200618 yr Author For all of you who are still holding back, who are still hesitating, who are watching and waiting to see happens next before you put your heart and soul into the wild card race Please take notice that we are only 5 games behind the Reds in the wild card standings.
June 19, 200618 yr What really makes me happy, is right in the middle of this run, we have that 2-14 loss to San Fran. It definitly delivers confidense to fans when you can see a young ball club come out the next day and continue playing with confidence. I was dreading that we would end up playing the way we did back in April.

I'm completely amused, stunned, and entertained all at once. on checking it's 6GB the Reds. Still amazing though.
June 19, 200618 yr Was Spring Training a fluke? Who knows Was the beginning of this year a fluke? Who knows Is this steak a fluke? Who knows All I know is that we are winning. Could the beginning of the year meltdown just there to teach us how to win the ML way?
June 19, 200618 yr Before the season I figured low to mid 60s in wins and have been skeptical but I'm glad they continue to prove me wrong. The pitching and Uggla have been been incredible. The NL is so weak I think about 85 wins will be enough to win the WC. If they make a run for the WC I hope they go out and get a CF.

Could the beginning of the year meltdown just there to teach us how to win the ML way? I, for one, do not say, geez if we didn't blow all those games early, just think where we would be now. I truly believe that all the losing, all the mistakes were necessary for this team to learn from those mistakes, for management to see IF they could learn from the mistakes and determine the makeup of the character of these players. Even if they falter, hopefully we will not see a losing streak matching this current win streak, the players now have a great reference point to pull themselves out of it-something that young players do not have until they experience the ups and downs. There is still a lot of learning and growing to do and WINNING. And since this is sports and a diversion, why not be optimistic for it to happen much sooner than we ever thought it could.
