May 15, 200719 yr Scarecrow/Cillian Murphy will be returning http://www.batman-on-film.com/batmovienews.html :thumbup
May 18, 200719 yr http://thedarkknight.warnerbros.com/ Click the Bat logo. So cool. Thanks for showing that. :rhumbup I'm going to preface this by saying that I'm about as big of a fan, supporter, and promoter of Batman Begins as anyone. I've probably seen it 12+ times now and I honestly feel it is more satisfying with each viewing. That said, there is one thing and something that has been talked about at nauseum in other circles and that is Maggie Gylenhaal being recasted as Rachel Dawes over Katie Holmes. I'm in the minority but I hate this move. I will agree with those that are a fan of this switch that one of the few flaws in BB was the 'explanation' ending of the film - the conversation between Dawes and Wayne at the wreckage of his mansion. That scene needed some serious re-wroking and shouldn't have been an explanation like it was in my view. That said, I didn't think Holmes was that bad. In a movie that was incredibly well casted (one of the things that will help this movie stand the test of time) she was more than likely the least talented actress of the bunch (not really that much of a shot when she's going up against guys like Bale, Caine, Freeman, and Oldman then later Eckhart and Ledger). But she wasn't bad enough in any way in my mind that it detracted from the film. In my opinion her removal, contrary to whatever the published reason for the split, was more about Nolan wanting to remove his film getting overshadowed by the roving paparazzi and tabloid machine that is TomKat which I think hurt BB last go around and did in fact overshadow this great piece of film for the casual movie goer. I don't like the movie because it is a huge lapse in continuity. Movies this good that are set-up to be a series, trilogy, whatever shouldn't have multiple actors for single roles. Its a huge loss for the next film and something that will annoy me especially when these films are put side by side as prequel and sequel. Also, while I do personally find Maggie Gyllenhaal attractive; I feel that Holmes had way more of the look of the damsel in distress, the grown childhood friend of Wayne, and is more beautiful and pleasing to the eye in this role then Gyllenhaal is. Holmes fits the character from a look stand point way more. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
May 18, 200719 yr Well, she does have a pretty fair resemblance to Katie Holmes. Other than that, I agree. I was upset when I first heard the news. It's a shame Maggie wasn't cast in the first place. Anyway, the Harvey Dent/Two Face/Batman storyline is probably my favorite (the entire TLH storyline really). I'm excited that Dent is going to be very, very prominent in this/the next movie, and reading the portions of the script that are leaking around the internet, it seems like they nailed it. The look of the Joker is also going to be great from how it sounds. The scarred smile is something I'm a huge supporter of. In fact, everything about The Dark Knight is going right so far (minus the recasting). I'm pumped.
May 19, 200719 yr Dunno the validity of this, but it's amusing nonetheless. http://www.ibelieveinharveydenttoo.com/ http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=5710 And if it is real, kudos to WB. UPDATE: After some snooping, it does appear that the IBelieveinHarveyDentToo site is legit. It was registered a few days before the IBelieveInHarveyDent website was launched.
May 19, 200719 yr Glad to see this great marketing campaign. The one for BB including the trailer was a joke.
May 19, 200719 yr Just realized you can email the Joker after he sends you your coordinates. He actually sends a message back. This is pretty elaborate.
May 19, 200719 yr From the interviews with the producers and the director of this film, it doesn't sound like Two-Face will appear until the end or so. They have to make sure that this film isn't overloaded with villains like a certain Marvel comic book film. The Scarecrow, Joker, and Two-Face could all be in this film at the same time, the way things are sounding. I'm just not sure what role the Scarecrow could play in this movie.
May 19, 200719 yr Actually despite what I posted, I don't think Cillian Murphy/Scarecrow is confirmed.
May 19, 200719 yr Hate to be making so many posts about the same subject in the same day, but... http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b304/Jac...r24/pixels3.jpg Thats what the image looks like so far with some filters applied and the specific pixels taken out of the image. Thanks to JackBauer over at SHH.
May 20, 200719 yr Ledger as the Joker: I'm assuming this is legit. If so, absolutely phenomenal and I love this direction. Nolan continuing to hit bombs in the right field stands.
May 20, 200719 yr Nolan is a lefty? Or does he just have good opposite field power? I like the switch to Maggie. She's a phenomenal actressand I think the series can only benefit from it.

May 21, 200719 yr I don't understand why all the Nolan worship... Memento Insomnia Batman Begins The Prestige /discussion I'll definitely agree to disagree.
May 21, 200719 yr It's not a bad movie by any means. I consider Memento to be a modern masterpiece (the best movie of our current decade) and BB as my favorite comic book movie of the past few years. I haven't seen The Prestige yet. Twenty years into the future, I predict Insomnia will be remembered as Nolan's 1941.
May 21, 200719 yr Maybe in comparison to his other work (I don't think it is bad at all or any sort of black eye) but 1941 is just simply a bad film in Spielberg and anyone's filmography.
May 21, 200719 yr Anthony Michael Hall from The Dead Zone has joined the cast. His role is "secret". The Mad Hatter? The Riddler? Hm... http://www.batman-on-film.com/batmovienews.html
