August 3, 200620 yr Depp won't do it because he's not really looking to do mainstream stuff. Plus, Id rather have him play Wallace in Sin City 2 if he wants to do a comic movie. I think Schrieber has a great look for the part. Schreiber Phoenix
August 3, 200620 yr Ledger played a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain. Batman's back was broken by Bane. Ironic.
August 5, 200620 yr Speaking of Bane, I'm hoping if this series plays out for a long time, they would eventually bring in Azrael. Granted, Nolan says that Robin won't be involved as long as he's involved, due to the fact that he's doing a young Bruce Wayne, which would null Azrael.

Yeah, I don't know that they'd ever get that far in continuity. And I kind of hope they don't. They don't need every comic scenario to play out in the movies.
August 6, 200620 yr Alright, since we've already had Scarecrow, Ra's Al Ghul, and this movie will have at least the Joker, what other Batman villains do you want to see in the Chris Nolan films? Some prominent ones are: -Two-Face -Poison Ivy -Mr. Freeze -The Riddler -The Penguin -Catwoman? -Bane -Clayface I'm not that big of a Batman person, so I can't think of any others right now.
August 6, 200620 yr Bane would be at the top of my list. Catwoman is solid and I wouldn't mind Black Mask. I'm hoping for no Mr. Freeze, Penguin, Poison Ivy.

Mr. Freeze would just bring back horrible nightmares of Batman & Robin. I've always wanted to see how the Mad Hatters looks like on screen (please don't recommend I rent Alice in Wonderland).
August 6, 200620 yr No way Bane would come in, as long as Nolan's in the picture. I wouldn't mind it because both Bane and Azrael were solid charachters, and you had a good storyline of Wayne descending into Depression.
August 6, 200620 yr Mad Hatter just seems too ridiculous looking/idea for the darker Batman world Nolan has created.
August 6, 200620 yr Supposedly Phillip Seymour Hoffman has been offered the Penguin role. Just speculation at this point. That being said, if it's early Batman and they're staying somewhat true to the comics then Joker, Man-Bat, Two Face, Poison Ivy, Penguin, the Riddler, Dr. Hugo Strange and Clayface all make the most sense. Maybe the Mad Hatter, Killer Moth as the smaller villains. I don't think Bane, Black Mask, Dr. Freeze have any place yet.

August 6, 200620 yr Mad Hatter just seems too ridiculous looking/idea for the darker Batman world Nolan has created. Not as the borderline child-molester/kidnapper he currently is. He fits right in.
August 6, 200620 yr Mad Hatter just seems too ridiculous looking/idea for the darker Batman world Nolan has created. We're talking about the same movie with a clown who's out of touch with reality, right? It's comic books, the Madhatter is just another delusional loonie. No way Bane would come in, as long as Nolan's in the picture. I wouldn't mind it because both Bane and Azrael were solid charachters, and you had a good storyline of Wayne descending into Depression. I'm not disagreeing but why is that? As far as I understand, he said he wants to do a young Bruce Wayne for as long as he's at the helm. Bane, didn't come in till later in the picture(e.g. No Robin) then again he could re-write the comics, wouldn't be the first time.
August 6, 200620 yr Interesting. I did not know that. Thanks. Glad to see you still come off as a jerk with your comment about the Hatter though.

I wouldn't mind it because both Bane and Azrael were solid charachters, and you had a good storyline of Wayne descending into Depression. I'm not disagreeing but why is that? Bane, except for his first appearance is a villain nobody knows what to do with. Unless you have a good writer, he's just a beefed up wrestler. I don't think he's intriguing enough to include in the movies at this point. It took Bane "ten years" (in continuity; about sixty by the real world count) to show up and break Batman's back. I just don't see him as deserving of an early Batman villain. I'd rather see Soloman Grundy if you're going with the big muscular guy who isn't going to be a main villain. I assume this version is going to be the Batman/Joker movie with a lot of setup for Two-Face in the next movie. I think the beginning of this movie will be Batman chasing down Scarecrow and coming across the Joker as we see Harvey Dent enter the picture. I just don't see time, or reason, necessary to include Bane at this point. If they get past a 5th movie I'd say, hey, include Bane. I just don't see Bane as the iconic villain/version of Batman character they're going for. I'd rather have Lex Luthor show up before Bane (who has done more interesting/intriguing things to Batman behind the scenes than Bane).
August 6, 200620 yr Agreed. I didn't think he'd fit in for the next film, but the question posed was what villians would you want to see in the new films. For me, Bane.
August 7, 200620 yr I think Mr. Freeze is underrated as a villain. He has the interesting backstory that he only turned to crime (at first) in order to find some cure for his wife's terminal illness. I'm guessing that the bad use of Mr. Freeze in Batman and Robin has made it difficult to bring back the character for awhile.
August 7, 200620 yr He's always been white in the comics and in the original Tim Burton film Harvey Dent was played by Billy Dee Williams. Hmmmm... My pics for Two Face are as follows: 1. Russel Crowe 2. Johnny Depp (is there anything he can't do) 3. Edward Norton 4. Brad Pitt I put Pitt on there because I think he's capable and it'd be something we're not used to seeing from him and, in the comics, Harvey Dent is called "Apollo" by the newspapers because of his good looks. Virtuosity...Watching that film makes me believe your choice isn't so out there.
August 7, 200620 yr It's not going to be an actor as large as Brad Pitt. Depp isn't very likely either. Schreiber is not a true star yet, so he's far more likely for the part if the producers wanted him. At least they won't be paying Liam Neeson for this film, I'm sure that wasn't cheap.
August 7, 200620 yr We all want to know who is going to play Harvey Dent, right? Doing a bit of sniffing around this weekend, a name that we've mentioned in the past seems to have resurfaced -- John Cusak. In fact, I got a couple of emails from some Aussie BOF'ers who claim JC alluded to a part in TDK on Aussie radio. If you can confirm this, shoot me an email. Josh Lucas, Liev Schreiber, and Ryan Phillippee (of late) have been the most mentioned "candidates" for the part of Gotham's D.A. (My take: Watch Nolan cast someone who has never been rumored.)... August 7, 200620 yr Whoa. I can't see Cusak at all. Not saying I'm against it, it's just weird. And if they can accomplish Ocean's 13 then get as many big names for Batman as you can. Sometimes, big name actors will do good movies with good director's and good casts for less money if they're interested. Granted, I'll take anyone Nolan feels is good enough for the part.
August 7, 200620 yr Do they mean John Cusack? Or is that someone different? Same guy. There's no John Cusak on IMDB.
