Is it just me or does Cusak play the same guy in every movie he's in?

 

 

Yes.

 

Except he had a few good turns in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Being John Malkovich and to some extent Cradle Will Rock. I think the right director could make it work; I don't know if Nolan's the guy, but maybe he could do it.

 

It's still early and this seems like a pretty speculative report as well.

Batman-on-Film is slowly becoming nothing more than a gossip page. BOF had Batman Begins casting and movie info nailed right from the start, but it's really been lackluster lately. Ryan Phillipe? John Cusack? Can't see either of them and if I had to guess I'd say somebody just made them up and emailed them in.

 

Liev is the MAJOR fan favorite (by a lot) so I'd be shocked if they didn't at least contact him for a screentest.

 

Phoenix has also gotta be right up there with who Nolan is looking at. He has the look, he has the acting chops and he could undoubtedly handle the role. He really hasn't been mentioned in any rumors either so that almost makes me feel better about his odds of getting the role.

Well to his credit, when his site revolves around a film that little is known about and said film won't becoming out until June or July of 2008 he only has scraps to work with. I actually do think he has contacts and I'm glad he is posting whatever chatter he gets even if some of it is a bit ludicrous.

 

Gives us all something fun to do with the film.

You may not know him by name, but you definitely know his work. Charles "Chuck" Roven served as producer on Batman Begins and he's back on board for the sequel The Dark Knight, which is tentatively due in June 2008.

 

Superhero Hype! caught up with the industrious producer at the junket for Universal's Idlewild, which he is also a part of, however Roven was pretty tight-lipped about what cast members would be returning, as well as whether Philip Seymour Hoffman would play a role in the upcoming film.

 

"One of the things that we have always done--we did it with the first 'Batman' movie in which we were involved, 'Batman Begins'" he explained, "[is] we don't comment on any rumors because it takes all the fun away."

 

Still, he did talk a little about Heath Ledger joining the cast. "We're really thrilled about Heath Ledger playing The Joker. As Chris Nolan said, the great thing about Heath is he commits himself fully and totally to everything he does. He's just a brilliant, brilliant actor and you know this Joker is a very interesting dark fellow."

 

How so we asked? "You're going to have to wait on that," Roven laughed.

 

As far as confirming who will be back for the sequel, he did confirm Christian Bale as we already know, but was very vague when it came to anyone else. "We are hoping, depending upon everyone's schedule and other aspects of what it is they want to do with their careers, that we're going to get most if not all of them who are alive back. Meaning "alive in the movie", not really alive… sorry. We're supposed to get them back if we can. The script is in the process of being written. There isn't a screenplay that exists right now, so I can't really tell you much more than that. Certainly Christian Bale is going to play Batman and Bruce Wayne."

 

"We are supposed to start shooting what we call a preshoot, which we know what that is, in January and then the main body of the movie is going to start in March," he added.

I always got the impression Harvey Dent was a person of indeterminate color from the Batman: TAS. It could've just been the way he was drawn though.

Harvey Dent was a district attorney, and he in all likelihood won't be turning into two face in this film or until the end. He was a good guy until the acid went on his face.

 

The Denzel point is moot anyways. I think he is too demanding of a presence for the role and the Ryan Phillippe rumors seem to have some considerable legs now.

I'm pretty sure that these "close to signing" rumors are just the trickle down of the BOF report.

 

I'd be stunned if he actually got the role.

Actor Ryan Phillippe will play the villain Two-Face in the upcoming Hollywood production of the "Batman Begins" sequel, "The Dark Knight."

 

The 31-year-old Phillippe will be the second actor to play the disfigured comic villain in a film, Teen Hollywood reported. Tommy Lee Jones did it in 1995's "Batman Forever."

 

"Brokeback Mountain" star Heath Ledger will follow in the film footsteps of Jack Nicholson, playing the infamous Batman villain, the Joker, in "The Dark Knight."

 

Phillippe reportedly beat out Liev Schreiber and Josh Lucas for the role of Two-Face.

 

"Batman Begins" co-stars Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman have already agreed to join "The Dark Knight," Teen Hollywood said, and Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman is said to be in talks to play the Penguin.

I think the guy's a hell of an actor, obviously he's had some classical training, and I just can't wait for the Prestige.

The Machinist is a mind-f***ing movie. Very trippy and weird. Bale weighs about 100 pounds in it. It's flawed, but I'd say it's worth watching if you're interested in that kind of thing (think The Jacket).

I actually really disliked The Machinist. The best part of it was the way Bale transformed his body and his obvious dedication to his craft. The movie tried too hard to be way too clever and the ending was just really predictable to me and not that suprising or interesting.

 

Reign of Fire sucks, don't rent it.

 

I liked him in The New World more because I thought the movie was great, not because his role was that deep.

Best Christian Bale movie is Empire of the Sun. It was amazing in every sense of the word. Granted, he was 14 in it, but he carried the movie like a professional and it has a nice supporting cast of Joe Pantoliano and John Malkovich. Very good movie.

So I guess this makes two villains for the sequel? It seemed to me like there was uncertainty as to whether or not we would actually see Two-Face in this one.

Scarecrow might make a return as well.
