Are they gonna use the title "Batman Begins 2"?

Actually this one will be "Batman Continues" and the third film is to be called "Batman Ends" I believe...

(And before I get a :plain , yes I am being wise@ss).

robin williams would have been sweet

I doubt it. That guy hasn't done anything of substance lately.

He seems to only be capable of doing either family crap or overly sentimental crap.

He's capable of the Riddler, maybe, but Joker? No.

did anyone else hear a rumor about possibly having michael Keaton as the joker...i heard it a long time ago...just wondering if anyone else heard that

http://uk.filmforce.ign.com/articles/714/714752p1.html

Robin Williams wants this part bad. I actually don't feel that badly about it either, he seems to really get the character being a big collector of comic books/graphic novels himself.

Not my first choice, but he wouldn't be the last on my list either.

I just think he's too old. Maybe a little too portly.

Not a knock against Robin Williams but this Joker is going to be serious and not in any way campy and telling actual jokes (Alan Moore and Frank Miller always said he should never laugh, ever, just smile all the time).

Plus, I personally think that, while the Joker could never physically be the Batman's equal, ever, he should still be spry enough to outrun Batman if it came down to a footrace. I picture the Joker as tall with long legs and able to maniacally run away and take chances in a foot race that allows him to narrowly escape Batman.

Something like this.

The same people and site that scooped Brandon Routh as Superman is reporting that Heath Ledger has been offered the role of the Joker.

I thought it was Paul Bettany.

And holy crap talk about miscast!

Or maybe I'm just typecasting him. I can't imagine him in that role....ever. But maybe I am wrong.

I'm fine with Ledger.

He's a better actor then most of the regular names that had been floating around (Buscemi, Williams, Hamill, etc).

CURVEBALL AND A HALF!!!!! THIS MAY EVEN QUALIFY AS A GYROBALL!!!!

His name wasn't mentioned once in ANY form by ANYONE. Totally out of left field. Chris Nolan does it again, though, getting the best acting talent to star in the Batman films. Bale, Oldman, Murphy, Neeson now Ledger. Absolutely great selection.

I cannot wait to see how Ledger does the character.

Thanks for the scoop Passion.

And Paul Bettany really was never a favorite to get the role, despite the general public thinking so.

I just can't get Brokeback out of my head. A sissy lover boy to an insane villain.

High five for being ignorant!

Brokeback Mountain was a great movie, by the way. Heath did a great job and really showed his range as an actor.

Heath was very good in Brokeback. Although it was a flawed movie (still better then Crash) Brokeback was a solid drama as well.

I actually liked Brokeback a lot. I'm probably the only one I know that watches it.

However I think you need to take a step off the judgement train and reread what I wrote.

He was a sissy lover boy (yes) and now will be an insane villain (yes) It has nothing to do with my beliefs or opinions. The last picture I have of Heath is him bending Jake over and doing the dirty. Not easy to transition to the role of a famous villain.

Chill with the hate, my man.

So every gay man is a sissy lover? I didn't think he came across as a sissy at all in BBM. Where did you get that?

At the risk of sounding judgemental and/or presumptuous, are you gay? (honest question).

No, though I wouldn't care if you thought I was.

BTW, It's a done deal...From Batman-on-Film.com:

Heath Ledger? It's TRUE

Author: Jett

Friday, July 21, 2006 - 8:26 AM PACIFIC TIME: I usually don't go out on a limb unless I have had something confirmed. Heath Ledger will be The Joker. From my BEST source:

"Nolan has been in secret talks with Ledger for some time....The fan favorites like Paul Bettany, Crispin Glover and your fave pick, Lachy Hulme, were just grist for the mill. Ledger will be playing The Joker. The offer was made last night, and it will be a done deal.

There you have it. Heath Ledger is The Joker.

You shouldn't. Be yourself.

And this is getting off topic.

I'm interested to see how Heath looks/acts as the Joker. I don't think it'll be an easy job for him.

I think he can get the look quite easily..See:

(Yes, that IS Heath)

This Joker IS going to be much more reserved than what most everyone else knows of him, though. So don't expect a Jack replica.

What character is that?

I don't think anyone is worried about the look. I'm worried about the demeanor, voice, attitude, etc. Will be a fun project, that's for sure.

I think that's from The Crow. Someone photoshopped him to add the dark red lips, green eyes and green hair, though.

Some great Batman news:

As rumored and expected, The Joker is going to be nothing like Nicholson’s version from B89. “What would be the point in trying to recreate something that was done so well then?

Expect to see a back story for The Joker and we shouldn’t expect to see him until the middle of the film. “Like Batman in BEGINS.

The Joker will not be the only villain in the film. “I know you’ve heard this before but trust me -- Nolan and his brother have a couple of surprises up their sleeves!

“Heath Ledger is perfect for the role as he has never played this kind of part before which is what Nolan was after. Think about it -- if you see Sam Rockwell or Robin Williams or even Hugo Weaving, you’d know exactly how they would play the role before even seeing the film and that’s not very intriguing for fans is it? I have a feeling Paul Bettany was out of the mix after his performance in The Da Vinci Code.

“From what I’ve heard about the direction of the film expect The Joker to be very creepy and very extreme.

“Whatever you’ve heard about titles for the film -- pay no attention as the title will most likely not be known until they’ve finished shooting.
