8/25 - Milwaukee (62-65) at Florida (60-66)

Recommended Posts

For the first time since July 21-25, the Marlins are riding a four-game winning streak.

After sweeping the Nationals in three games, Florida is off on Thursday before opening a four-game series with the Brewers on Friday night at Dolphin Stadium.

Still clinging to a slim National League Wild Card hope, the Marlins will face the Brewers seven times in a 10-day span. Milwaukee is the only team Florida has yet to play this season.

After sweeping Washington, the Marlins are 4-2 on their 10-game homestand.

On Friday night the Marlins turn to rookie Ricky Nolasco in hopes of running their string to five. At home, the 23-year-old right-hander is 5-4 with a 3.93 ERA in 14 games, with eight starts.

The Brewers counter with Dave Bush, who faces the Marlins for the first time in his career. On the road, Bush is 3-5 with a 5.78 ERA.

Pitching matchup

MIL: RHP Dave Bush (9-9, 4.71 ERA)

Bush pitched into the eighth inning on Saturday and delivered a key two-run single on the way to his third win in four decisions. It was the kind of performance typical of Bush at home, but he has struggled on the road, going 3-5 with a 5.78 ERA in 14 appearances, including 13 starts.

FLA: RHP Ricky Nolasco (11-8, 4.14 ERA)

Since the All-Star break, Nolasco is 5-2 with a 2.70 ERA. He is 2-2 with a 4.98 ERA in August, and he's now compiled 115 1/3 innings. As a starter, the right-hander is 9-7 with a 4.13 ERA, and at home he is 5-4 (3.90). In his last start, he battled for six innings, giving up three runs on nine hits in a loss to Atlanta.

Player to watch

Rookie shortstop Hanley Ramirez extended his hitting streak to eight games with two hits on Wednesday night. During the streak, he is 14-for-36 (.389).
