September 7, 200619 yr And Charlie Houghs first pitch wasnt really a trike, but the ump says hes out, then hes out. Its part of the game.
September 7, 200619 yr If it was the Yankees they wouldn't even be trying to bring up something like that.
September 7, 200619 yr Even if he waasn't, it would have been an error and Anibal would have gotten the next guy out. You negative nancy, debbie downer.
September 7, 200619 yr Then ESPN wonders why MLB gave TBS the extra cable package next year. ESPN is probably one of the worst things that could have happened to MLB teams in small markets. All Yanks-Red Sox, All the time serves no one.
September 7, 200619 yr Any close play there and he's out. No ump will be remembered as the guy who questionably called the 27th out "safe" and broke up a no-hitter. Who cares ESPN. Game over. Anyway, it's not like a fan potentially reached out over the field in game 6 of the NLCS.
September 7, 200619 yr Which bring me to my next point. Wtf was Hanley doing? Listen the ESPN has nothing against the Marlins. It was the last play of a no hitter (something that hasn't been done in how many years?). It's worth noteing.

September 7, 200619 yr Reed was safe. ESPN hasn't mentioned that yet... Very true. Was Reed the last out of a no hitter? Come on now guys.
September 7, 200619 yr Reed was safe. ESPN hasn't mentioned that yet... Very true. Was Reed the last out of a no hitter? Come on now guys. I was more interested in the umpires are human and make/miss close calls all the time aspect of that post than the ESPN part.
September 7, 200619 yr Why in the world with 2 outs with a no-no going would the ump call him safe? :notworthy

I was more interested in the umpires are human and make/miss close calls all the time aspect of that post than the ESPN part. Of course they make mistakes. It doesn't diminsh Sanchez's feat on any level, but it was a noteworthy play. Why in the world with 2 outs with a no-no going would the ump call him safe? :notworthy If he was out he was out. No hitter or not means jack. The umpire has a job to do. Btw anybody can say what they want right now, but in 2 years (or days for that matter) nobody will remember the guy was safe on the last play. He pitched an amazing game, and accomplished a great feat. That's all.
September 7, 200619 yr Why in the world with 2 outs with a no-no going would the ump call him safe? Agreed. That ump wants to get to the spread, or the bar, or wherever ASAP. Game was over regardless.
September 7, 200619 yr cmon guys, he was out by a half a step. they havent really shown it in slo mo yet, but you will see. OUT.
