October 14, 200619 yr Good, it's nice to have some continuity. I'm a bit surprised because I thought there was a good possibility he might follow Girardi. Maybe he knows something we don't or, then again, maybe not.
October 14, 200619 yr Right now, at least from what's been written in the last few days, it appears Girardi is the second or third candidate in Chicago and Washington, and not on the radar screen in Texas, San Francisco or elsewhere. Kranitz wisely decided a bird in the hand... From an organizational perspective, if they get rid of who the FO perceives as the problems - Girardi and Tuck - and keeps the remainder of the coaching staff more or less intact, it's a win/win.

Good news all around. apparently Perry has family health issues (which dated back to last season), so he hasn't decided if he's going to coach this year or not. According to the floridamarlins.com article, the Fish blocked the Red Sox and O's from interviewing him for a spot. So he'll either be here if he wants, or nowhere next year.
October 14, 200619 yr Everyone is so psyched by Kranitz return. I am happy but even moreso for the return of Presley. I think Kranitz return will ensure a steady, consistent learning pattern from last season though this one. But he did have pitchers that we were told were very talented and many would be ML ready. At bat however we feared what we had. Olivo was much better than expected. Uggla, amazing. Hanley and Willingham bounced back after a sever slump. Cabrera became a hitter when teams wanted to pitch him away. In previous seasons I was not a fan of Bill Robinson because it seemed we had more prolonged slumps than other teams. Last season I thought we had far less long slumps and was amazed at how many players were taking pitches the other way. I am thrilled to have Kranitz back but I am even more happy to see Presley return.

October 14, 200619 yr Maybe this is a result of Girardi having trouble finding a job, which is pretty ironic in my opinion. There is also the possibility that Girardi is not 100% sure he will manage next season. He still gets paid by the Marlins, right? So I suppose there is a chance he could just stay home with his family (he does have a newborn baby) and come back to managing the following season. Maybe Kranitz didn't want to risk waiting around to find out. Then again, Girardi could also be holding out to see what happens with the Yankees. Who knows.

October 15, 200619 yr Presley and Kranitz returning? Great news. At least there will be some continuity from 2006 to 2007. Too bad the Marlins had to lowball Kranitz, though. I would have liked to see the Marlins sign him to more than a one year deal. Still, it is good to have him back.
