Does anyone else hate Sprint?

Featured Replies

It has been about 2 months since my step dad(who works at Sprint) bought me, my mom, and himself new cell phones. Which means about 2 months ago he signed me up for web, texting, and picture mail since I said I would pay for all of those things. They said it would take about 5 hours for everything to start working and to leave both my new and old phones off while I wait.. I did and I got texting but no web or picture mail. My step dad waited about a week and called back. It seems the guy who set everything up didn't do everything he was suppose to. He enabled the texting but the web and picture mail was still disabled. The person who helped set everything up the second time said he enabled the web and picture mail but we had to wait for a conformation by email for everything to work. It has been a month and a half and still no conformation. The web still does not work and I'm getting picture mail sent to me by friends but I can't look at any of the pictures because everytime I try it says the server is not responding and to try again later.

My step dad always is telling us how nasty customers are when they call(he works at the call center) and now I understand why, Sprint sucks. I am seriously thinking about changing my service. Has anyone else had problems with Sprint?

I've been using Sprint for roughly 4 years now. The first two years I had it, their phones were innovative. Not a day went by that I didn't get a comment about how cool phone my looked. These days, they seemed to have fallen behind the other providers. Customer service annoys you to no end. Their plans are outdated and their phone selection sucks. They just came out with their version of a Motorola RAZR yesterday!

However, they have a few things working for them. Their phones are rough and sturdy. I've had my phone for over 2 years now. It has survived a thousand drops and the battery survived 20 cars running over it in the middle of 8th street (but that's a different story).

In case you're wondering, here's my phone:

Sanyo SCP-7200

Get Cingular. I've had them since '01 and I rarely have any issues with them. Customer service is great if you know how to utilize them--basically, if the representative doesn't want to cooperate, ask for a supervisor and one of two things will happen:

a) They'll put you on hold for 5 minutes, and when they get back they'll give you what you want.

b) They'll transfer you to a supervisor, who will more than likely give you what you want (or compensation)

Also, Cingular's coverage is the best of any network. The phones are cool too.

Yeah, my friend used to have Sprint and she always had problems with her extras like texting and pic mail.

I love Verizon, can't go wrong with it.

Their text message system requires you to go online on your phone. Really, really stupid. I didn't use the feature until about 2 weeks ago for the first time. But then again, this has never been a big issue for me.

Yeah my friend has T-Mobile and she hates it.

I'm gonna check out Cingular and Verizon. See which one I think is better. I've been hearing alot of good things about Cingular.

I had Sprint for years but just switched last week to Verizon. Their phones do such in terms of sexiness as of late but the service et al is fine. I switched to Verizon because my girlfriend has it so it made sense to be on the same network.

Cell phone providers and the customer opinions on them are quite variable. I have had Sprint for over 2 years and the only think I don't like about them is that they're a bit pricey - that is, if you want to be able to check scores on your phone, send pictures to people, and browse through ringtones to download - that runs you up another 20 bucks.

Yeah, the problem with Cingular is just about everything.

Phone wouldn't receive calls, would go straight to voicemail and I wouldn't get the message for days on end.

Blackberry wouldn't get e-mail properly, or send it properly, or connect to the data system properly. I was told that it was possibly because it was raining in my area, or because I was near a large body of water, I told him that pretty much describes the entire state of Florida (I'm not making this up). Switched to a treo which is now perfectly useless. Does not get e-mail properly, does not send e-mail just about ever and cannot connect to make phone calls. I know why cingular has the fewest dropped calls because they don't allow you to connect in the first place.

Stay the hell away from Cingular. No matter how badly you think your service sucks (as long as it's not Cingular) there's worse out there, promise.

Had Cingular for 6 years, no issues to date.

Never had a dropped call, never had any MediaNET issues, never had any text issues, etc.

I'd recommend Cingular to -anyone- but as stated above, everyone has different happenings, so its usually pretty different from one person to the next.

I've had Sprint for about 3 years now. It's a fine service, unless you have a crappy phone. Any service sucks with a crappy phone.

I don't get any gadgets or gizmos though. I just talk on the phone. No picture phone, no internet, nothing like that.

Isn't that considered a crappy phone these days?

I want to get a Sprint phone because the live TV is awesome, but the phone service sucks.
