My Marine recruiting station was vandalized this morning

Featured Replies

Today at 8am we were supposed to have a poolee meeting, run a physical fitness test, and afterwards have a USMC birthday celebration for all the poolees (AKA Future Marines).

I got there around 7:45am and all the Marines were standing outside and the SNCOIC of the entire district was there, i've never seen him before and he never comes out to routine poolee meetings like this so I knew something was going on, there was also a police car out front but I didn't think much of it because Margate police officers come by all the time just to talk with the poolees since a lot of them are also Marines or Soldiers and are in the reserves and were recruited out of the recruiting stations right there.

So I park my car and walk up to the office and there is f***ing red paint splattered all across the front of the windows and the American flag outside was soaked in red paint and all on the sidewalk in front of the office and on the other windows was red paint with anti-war slogans written everywhere, most of them you couldn't even really read because it wasn't legible but you could make out a few words like "war," "impeach," and "iraq."

The paint was still wet so you knew it was fresh and they must have done it within the past couple hours at the most, i'd like to see those f***ing p***y's try that later in the day when there are 6 US Marines in the office. It's too bad they did it on a Saturday when everyone got there between 7am and 8am, because on weekdays the Marines are there at like 4am.

After the police took the report and left, all of the Marines and all of the poolees, including me spent the next 2 hours cleaning all the paint and sh*t up. After we finished the Gunny gave us an awesome motivating speech.

It's a real wake up call and it really opens your eyes when you see this type of bulls*** first hand and in real life right in front of you and it makes you look at things in a different way. I can only imagine how it must have been for all the veterans of Vietnam during that era, I don't even want to try and compare this experience to what they had to go through because that wouldn't be right, god bless all of those Vietnam vets who had the whole country against them.

Seeing sh*t like this just makes me want to go to boot camp and earn that title even more now, got less than 8 weeks.

That's damn cowardice. Whoever has the gumption to do something like this on Veteran's Day is completely heartless. I hope they catch the person(s) who did this and give them what they deserve for commiting arguably one of the most careless crimes there is, defacing the American flag and defacing government property.

Sucks that you had to spend your day like that.

If they wanted it do it, that's TOTALLY 100% fine with me...

...as long as they did it while all of the Marines were there and not in the middle of the night :mischief .

Wow, did they HAVE to pick Veterans' Day? That's really dumb and heartless.

I agree they should have showed up when the soldiers were there, but they weren't quite that dumb.

defacing government buildings is a no no just like for any building.

defacing the flag i have no problem with, its 100% permitted within the freedoms our constitution and bill of rights gives us.

make no mistake, this was all done for a reason. every little details, down to the day and time, but they should have done some nice protesting and flag defacing around 10 am. That would have been more 'interesting'

Yeah. Definetly.

There really is no excuse to cowardly vandalize a government building, especially a military one to prove a political point. These people obviously don't have the balls to use the first amendment to its extent, whether in poor taste or not.

Except for when the flag is not your property, like in this case :whistle

Holy crap, I just got a phone call from one of the SSgt's at the office asking me if I would be willing to be interviewed by NBC 6! If anything happens i'll let you guys know, but make sure you watch the NBC 6 tonight and/or tomorrow.

It sucks, i'm in Boca just BARELY across the Palm Beach County line and therefore I get all the local news stations from West Palm Beach instead of the news stations from Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, so if you guys see anything this on NBC 6 about it please let me know.

yeah I was going to say, too bad a group of Marines didn't catch them doing it.

Anybody who disrespects any of the honorable members of our military is inexplicably pathetic. They risk our lives for our country, and if they don't, guess who has to...

pretty messed up and very disgusting people that should be locked up, lose the right to vote and get kicked repeatedly in the balls.

We have finally found some common ground that we agree on :thumbup .

Totally on anyone that disrespects the military and the service given by our troops should be dealt with to every possible instance the law can provide (and provided no cameras perhaps the cops can give them a side beat-down as if resisting arrest). But I have a long line of military in my family.

Hell yeah man. "STOP RESISTING.... STOP RESISTING" :thumbup

Based on the nature of this attack? What balls?

Seriously, I don't get along with many Marines... Navy/Marine rivalry thing I guess... but seriously... of all the crap to pull this was *no word for it*... and what's worse... they probably thought they were making some sort of political stand... "hehe guys, we stuck it to the man!" Obviously this loser/these losers have no idea what goes into being a soldier... and what it means to not have freedom...

Respect the service? Totally.

Respect a war that has nothing to do with protecting our rights as Americans? Never.

Agreed... hopefully not to cause another political debate... as a matter of fact, I'll ask nicely, please lets not start a useless political debate :thumbup

Marines (and the other branches) don't make foreign policy, they merely carry it out.

Taking it out on the people that have no part in the decision process of going to war is just stupid. It's like killing medical students to prevent the stem cell research bill from being passed.

I agree that targeting the military because of dislike for a war is the wrong way to go about it. They don't make the orders, they carry them out.

Say what you want about the war to the government, the military's got nothing to do with where they go to protect our freedoms.

Anyone who lives in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale, did you watch NBC 6 local news last night and if so were there any stories about this? Unforunately I couldn't watch because i'm in Palm Beach County, but I know NBC 6 was supposed to have something on this.

Also TONIGHT on the CBS 12 local news (everyone in Palm Beach County) they're DEFINITELY doing a story about this. The next local news broadcast on CBS 12 is at 6:30pm after the CBS Evening News and then there is the 11pm news on CBS 12.

You don't have to agree with the war. It's your God given right to have an opinion. But when you take that opinion out on other's personal property not to mention the government's property, property of the government of the United States of America, a country that you live in and better damn glad and proud of to live in every day of your life behind it's back, you become a gutless coward and in my opinon, should have your freedom taken away because you obviously feel you have the right to take advantage of it.

You can go out in front of the White House or any military base in the country and stand there for days protesting the war all you want. But protesting and vandalizing are two different things.

The Army recruiting station in the Oakland district of Pittsburgh here was vandalized a few weeks back. I got to see the carnage when I was walking to Bruegger's to get brunch. Disgusting.

On the other hand, in weeks prior there had been protesters in front of it, basically making the argument that recruiters lie and protesting the war. I would think those are acceptable.
