October 8, 200322 yr http://www.dailytrojan.com/article.do?issu...-prior.30s.html Thought Marlin Fans would like to know what he THINKS of you guys. Hes pretty much as Arrogant As I thought he would be. At least he acknowledges the SOX Fans as being Craziest, but he called us the "little brother" of the Cubs. the s.o.b.............. I hope you guys JEER and BOO him when he pitches down there....
October 8, 200322 yr Please take your powerful Marlins bats and shove them straight up his butt. Make him cry like a b*tch. God he's such a pompus assclown. GO MARLINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 8, 200322 yr The worst? Son, why don't you try and say that when there are 60,000+ Marlins fans ready to rip your head off! :fyou
October 8, 200322 yr who cares, too bad he aint starting 3 game in miami.......if this was the case i hope they put the part of the interview up in the big screens at Pro Player and let all the fans see what he said...then just wait and hear the crowd go WILD....he would then rergret it.
October 8, 200322 yr It's hard to argue with him. When you only start to support your team as the post season begins... Not coming out to support your team equals the worst fans. Although I'd have to argue that the Expos are worse, marlins attendance this year was pathetic for the success that they have had. The league avg for attendance was 2,273,813. The beloved marlins drew 1,275,686, thats nearly a million below the league avg. With that kind of support you will not see this team remaining together for more than this season. You have a lot of arbitration eligible players and Pudge is a Free Agent. I'm sure there are some good marlin fans. But as a whole they do not support their team.
October 8, 200322 yr as a whole, the Marlin fans are great fans...there just arent as many of them. The fans are some of the best in baseball. The South Fla citizens are just now becoming "fans".
October 8, 200322 yr I used to live in Florida, was down there when they got the expansion team. I know a lot of the fans were lost after the firesale. Who could blame them though. I just don't understand how a team that is heading to the playoffs has trouble packing the house. Maybe a smaller stadium would serve the Marlins better.
October 8, 200322 yr the braves had trouble packing the house during their season with the best record in baseball. And you still fail to realize, that we have GREAT fans...just not many of them...I wish I was good at looking up past quotes and such, but many players/announcers/etc. have mentioned that the 15k at games are pretty darn loud and enthusiastic for being 15k.
October 8, 200322 yr Believe me I understand that for the fans you have they are great. All I'm saying is that without more support the Marlins will not be able to keep the team together. And from a players perspective when they look up at a 60k stadium and see 15k fans... It looks pretty empty. Thats the angle Prior was coming from.

Regardless of how ill-informed your post is, and realizing of course you must be just sick over the Cubbies choking, there's going to be 65,000 screaming, cheering Marlins fans in the stands when you "lovable losers" (isn't that your pet name for the team?) show up. BTW, wait til you hear those 65k screaming "Corky" when Mr. Cheater strolls to the plate. :w00t

Implying that means you believe they should have won. as a marlins fan I would think you would point out what the marlins did to win and realize that they played the better game. What am ill-informed about? I stated the attendance totals and made an opinion based on that. I'm not here to troll, would appreciate that you not do the same. I was just providing an explaniation for Priors comments. No doubt, I'm sure you have great fans.
October 8, 200322 yr Its true that the fans didnt really start coming out until late in the season. There is no denying that. The Cubs have this 'mythic' aura around them, some of it fabricated, some of it genuine. As far as the Marlins, the fans show up for a winner, as being seen. As far as Marlin fans being the worst, that is definitely false. Worst equals dont care. The true Marlin fans are some of the most loyal, devoted, committed fans in all of baseball. A correct statement might be that there are not many Marlin fans, but not the worst. That is misinformed but you know what? Who cares. Prior can only go by what he has observed. After the LCS, I am sure his opinion will change in many regards. He has only been to Florida twice I believe. The attendence for the games he was at....was not that great. So you have to consider the evidence he has to go on.
October 8, 200322 yr as a whole, the Marlin fans are great fans...there just arent as many of them. The fans are some of the best in baseball. The South Fla citizens are just now becoming "fans". So true! I have a few friends that if they would hear me talking about the Marlins, they'll be like "Marlins suck!" Bla bla bla bla! Now they're like, "Yea! Go Marlins!" :thumbdown But I also now a bunch of diehard awesome Marlins fans.
October 8, 200322 yr The typical cub fans care more about attendance than anything else. I'd rather be surrounded by 12,000 diehards than 40,000 morons that couldn't tell you the score of the game because they are too busy socializing.
October 8, 200322 yr "...I was just providing an explaniation for Priors comments." With all due respect, we don't need you to "explain" Prior's comment for us. We understand all too clearly exactly what he was saying. :thumbdown
October 8, 200322 yr Prior's last truly big post-season start against a Florida team was back in the 2001 CWS championship game against the University of Miami Hurricanes. Final - Canes 12, USC 1

Better late than never right? Anyway, like many of the other new posters here, I'm a long-time poster from WSI that has adopted the Marlins as my new favorite NL team. Don't worry about this Cub fan, let me explain it to him... Note: I don't know most of the exact numbers so I'm guessing on a lot. You'll get the point though... It's actually quite simple. Yearly attendance depends largely on season ticket sales. I don't know the exact number of the Marlins season ticket sales this year but I'm betting it was under 10K. I guessing it was somewhere around 5K. That means in order to meet your "league average" they have to average 28K per game. That means about 23K in walk-ups every game!!! There's very few teams in baseball (probably none) that can do that. Let alone one that started as bad as the Marlins did this year. Let's face it, they haven't exactly been tearing up the East the past few years. So, for all you idiot Cub fans that rip these guys for not showing up this year, remember that it's nearly impossible to increase yearly attendance by 1 million in a single year!!! Especially when nobody saw this coming. Attendance is a gradual thing. When the team wins year after year and nobody shows up, then you have to question the fans. When the team losses year after year *coughCUBScough* and the fans STILL show up, then you have to wonder about their sanity...

October 8, 200322 yr well put, Iwritcode What dumb CUB fan doesnt understand he is in the wrong place preaching his crap... see cub fan, there were many nights when we drew 10.000-12.500 a game... and now that you see 65.000 at a game which is really 67.000 cuz they opened seast which they werent suppose to.... anywayz back to da point, outta those 10K or 12K most these people on this board such as myself have been there with this team.... I am not Defending the Marlins Fan Base, cuz most these people gave up on a long time ago and only have shown up when the YANKS came here and Muts and When Dontrelle was the talk of AMerica.. most these guys here can tell you Mark Redman 10 Strike out Debut game in the beggning the season, or how we only scored like 4 runs in 3 games aganst the Dudgers, and how we swept the reds in that 9 or 12 game road trip... or the Phillie game D.Lee "Im not CLUTCH" came threw for us back in like June... or when Mike Lowell hit a game winning HR in game 2 aganst the Dead SOX, or how it Rained out in Dontrelle's game aganst the RAYS..... these guys been there they were that 10.000 to 12.000... what eva you say is right but on this board ya all wrong... better come down from SHY TOWN to Bandwagon Park aka da PRO and ask ya f***ing ?'s to Bandwagon Jumperes... and Honestly we need these bandwagon mother f***ers cuz the team needs to generaate money and geta new Park.. and if we win the series i know 4 sure we get a PARK!!!!! so in other words f*** OFF CUB FAN
October 8, 200322 yr Yep, same old thing "So what if the Sox and Marlins beat the sCrUBS every year, you guys don't fill your ballpark ! " Get use to it Marlins fans, it's called the attendance card.
October 8, 200322 yr The Cubs don't win the attendance crown because San Fran had more people. The Cubs won't win the NL crown because the Marlins are better. Cubs fans better get something better to argue with, they don't have a clue of what the speak of. Marlins fans, while not as plentiful, are not low-lifes, nor are they uninformed. Quality is better than quantity, it applies to everything.
