Fact about Ricky Nolasco:

If you take away all his appearances against the Mets, his ERA last year was 3.79.

Don't be fooled by his 4.82 ERA last year.

True, but what I am suggesting is that if he makes the necessary adjustments against them he can be very effective. In other words, the kid stunk up the place against them, but other than that he was pretty good. He just needs to make adjustments against them.

Fact: if you take away Miguel Cabrera's bad days, he bats .800.

It happens, next year if it's not the Mets, it's the Phillies, or the Braves.

The great thing about statistics is you can manipulate them in anyway to make a point, and any sampling could have negative recurrences removed to unintentionally skew anything in a positive light. I like Nolasco very very much (FWIW, Girardi thinks he's the next great closer), but please Prin, don't do something like that, it's below you. You're a very capable and intelligent poster, don't reduce yourself to the stat skewing arguments, there are plenty of positives to pull out about Nolasco rather than making a bad "well, if you take this out..." argument. :thumbup

Olivo: .226, .232, .267, 7 HR, 31 RBI

Jacobs: .276, .280, .429, 23 HR, 71 RBI

Uggla: .301, .310, .431, 25 HR, 70 RBI, 6 SB

Sanchez: .241, .242, .247, 0 HR, 3 RBI, 9 SB

Call me crazy, but I'm willing to bet Olivo, Jacobs, Uggla, and A. Sanchez walk cumulatively more then 15 times in 2007.

Perhaps I didn't make this clear enough in my post, but I was suggesting that further consistency from Ricky will produce a better pitcher than what we saw last year. Sometimes someone with an ERA of near 5.00 is consistently mediocre. The fact that he was pretty good against all other teams suggest to me that one more year of experience and some further coaching can help him stay consistent.

You're right that this coming year could be against another team. I just hope that he can maintain his consistency so that he can be very productive overall.

I know commentary is frowned upon but I just have to say.......

If the Marlins (and the current roster) win 90 games I will take a 2 month ban.

This is by NO means a 90 win team.

hell of a first post

The only way the Marlins win 88 games or more is if they trade for Andruw Jones and Mariano Rivera at the All-Star break.
