Remember when Mitre joined this organization, the Marlins pegged him as the #2 Starter...

We shouldn't be all that surprised.

Well whatever the case is... they considered him rotation worthy.

I don't understand why there is question as to if he should fall in the rotation.

Even with JJ back, there are still so many questions, and the only one proving his decent consistency is Mitre, unless you count Anibal, who is cosistently bad.

In his 11 starts as a Marlin, and not counting his one miserable one vs the Cardinals...

and people wonder why I have been goo-goo for a guy with a career 5era+ in the majors

that sinker ball is so nasty

That sinker in the heavy air in Miami is nice.

He's starting to look like a really solid starter.

I am not allowed to comment on this any longer, so I will just say...i s d s h f t s w a e r a u 5

lolz...

Maybe next start he will start against a meh pitcher.

Well, hopefully that will change next start. Do you know who he is scheduled to pitch against next?

You also have to appreciate how deep he's been going into games.

He's averaging 6.2 innings this year (not including the game he left after getting one out with the blister), and has strung togeather 5 strait quality starts (averaging 7.1 innings in that span).

Ted Lily is pitching today for the Scrubs... what does that mean? Mitre is going to face him on Wednesday. His luck.

Do you hate everyone else in the NL? :lol

I think Rick Kranitz knew perfectly well what Mitre was capable of.

you're probably right... hell I was as high on him as anyone

Thanks Kranitz!

Biggest problem with him 'til now is he hasn't been healthy long enough to give people a good look at him. He'd have a couple fair outings & then get hurt. And then when we had the rookies cruising last season there wasn't any space for him.

Down the line (if he keeps this up) this could free up Nolasco for a move to the bullpen, or even convince the front office into thinking we have enough starting pitching depth to deal a starter.

Dude has just been lights out.

Ramp was a believer way back. I now pray in the Church of Mitre.

In his last start, I noticed one particular inning that I liked a lot. It was a 1-2-3 inning, and he started off with Reyes. He got ahead 0-2, and threw a fastball hard inside to back him off. Then he can with a 2-seam that ran right away for a K. When Beltran came up third, he got ahead 0-2, and did the exact same thing. Hard fastball inside, 2-seam running away for the K. Smart pitching mixed with great control and good stuff.
