May 10, 200719 yr In his 10 starts as a Marlin, and not counting his one miserable one vs the Cardinals... 56ip 51h 26r 19er 22bb 45k 3.05era 1.30whip :whistle
May 10, 200719 yr that cant be right, 26 runs but only 10 are earned? Groundball pitcher, average defense. 19 ER sounds right. Small sample size alert.
May 10, 200719 yr u guys are just too dumb to see how could his pitches are and he has never done that bad at all just get absolutley no run support
May 10, 200719 yr Small sample size alert. 56 innings = 1/3rd-to-1/4th a season. Not all that small. I mean, yeah, seeing him over a full season would be better. But it's not just a couple of starts.
May 10, 200719 yr I still dont see how he stays in the rotation when Anibal and JJ are back though. As stated in the game thread, he is turning himself into excellent trade bait.
May 10, 200719 yr Nolasco isn't exactly a sure bet to stay in the rotation I'm sure he'll be moved out and put into the bullpen. T-Hutt said that was very likely once JJ's back.

Anibal needs to work on his control, he will be back. I agree with you, I think Mitre is going to have to go all out, now he is competeing with last years studs. I would love to see him win though, his control is good, he is a great pitcher, it's just he is a ground ball pitcher being supported by our learning in progress infield.

May 10, 200719 yr Not a long history, but I am not uncomfortable with Sergio. I see a pitcher learning how to use his pitches and he seems to be getting better. He is displaying, to me, that he is smarter than a lot of pitchers, and if he is, the coaches will see this too.
May 10, 200719 yr Mitre was never a bad pitcher, he just had the unfortunate fate of being coached by Dusty Baker, being forced into relief where his ERA shot up constantly.
May 10, 200719 yr He looked AMAZING this afternoon. Congrats to him on a wonderful outing. Zippo runs in 8 innings - what more can you ask?
May 10, 200719 yr I've told all you guys for a long time that Sergio was a decent pitcher who isn't gonna win the cy young but can give us a quality start every time out.
May 10, 200719 yr Raise your hand ifyou thought Mitre and Obermueller would be pitching the best in our rotation at this point in the year? I think its great to see guys step up like this. When JJ and Anibal are healthy, guys are going to have to earn their rotation spot, not just assume its going to be handed to them.
May 10, 200719 yr Small sample size alert. Tank must suck than He's a reliever, they deal with small sample sizes all of the time. That is why it's so hard to consistently predict which relievers will be good each year.
May 10, 200719 yr He did great and we needed him to do so. I'm so tired of mediocre performances from our staff; it's as if they've forgotten to pitch. I hope he can keep it up, and maybe Olsen has found his way. Two decent pitchers at least.
May 10, 200719 yr I agree the is first start of the year since the opening series that a starter was dominant from start to finish. I hope all the pitchers were tracking this start.
May 10, 200719 yr It'd do wonders for the team if Mitre becomes a reliable starter this year. We've certainly been lacking those.
May 11, 200719 yr Nolasco isn't exactly a sure bet to stay in the rotation I'm sure he'll be moved out and put into the bullpen. T-Hutt said that was very likely once JJ's back. Obermueller should go before Nolasco. Ya cuase Nolasco is so lighting the world on fire.
