May 29, 200719 yr Okay, so its not even June yet, but Im bored in between classes so I figured I would get a post going about the New York Yankees future. I hate the Yankees just to make it clear but Ive been hearing from websites and friends that the Yankees want Todd Helton and Ken Griffey this season. The Helton story I found on mlbtraderumors.com Anyway I would vomit if this occured but here could be the Yankees lineup come July CF--Johnny Damon SS--Derrek Jeter RF--Bobby Abreu or Ken Griffey Jr 3B--A-Rod 1B--Todd Helton DH--Jason Giambi or Damon or Griffey LF--Hideki Matsui C--Jorge Pasada 2B--Robinson Cano I think Im throwing up just thinking about it. I know pitching is the Yankees problem this season and they shouldnt be considering the lineup to change this season, but I just thought Id get something to talk about up. If Petite and Mussina get hit on the head and pitch like years past, along with Clemens it could make for an interesting 2nd half. But then again, isnt baseball always interesting?
May 29, 200719 yr I see no problems with this. I also heard the Yankees were going to sign Johan Santana, CC Sabathia, and Jake Peavy by July.

So if you hate em so much, why are you starting a post about their line up? :confused The Yankees will always be on trade rumor sites. Cost is no limit with them They need to go young. What is their obsession with "older" players? They are in dire straits and think a plug in of another great hitter will solve everything. Just like they did in the late eighties.
May 29, 200719 yr I don't hate the yankees and will comment on this. The truth is theres still about 2 months till trade deadline time. If by mid-July its clear the yanks are going to need a miracle to contend, they shouild start trading away old guys and get some young guys. Its ok to rebuild, because with their core they can still compete next year. It won't hurt to trade some guys away for some good young pitching.
May 29, 200719 yr The problem with "trading away older guys" for them is the Yankees have all of those senior citizens signed to ridiculous contracts. And they dont want to eat salary. Its their own personal catch 22 that they are totally responsible for.

Their biggest problem was they gave away a lot of great pitching talent for older hitters. In the beginning it had worked because the original group of veterans such as Paul O'Neil and Chuck Knobloch were proven winners and an asset to the team chemistry. Randy Johnson, A-Rod, and Giambi are all about the $$$ and not the team

Randy Johnson, A-Rod, and Giambi are all about the $$$ and not the team It isn't Arod and Giambi that are the problem. Its how the yanks have spent on pitching. Their idea of going young is overpaying for injury prone guys like Jaret Wright and Carl Pavano. The pitching is what hasn't worked out for them, and its beginning to show this year. The hitting is fine, they lose all these 8-7 and 9-8 games and stuff this year, b/c the hitting is fine but the pitching can't hold up. Its Texas Rangers style baseball.
May 29, 200719 yr Who the hell do the Yankees have to trade to acquire those players? :lol :lol On another note, the baseless hate/idiocy in this thread is hilarious.
May 29, 200719 yr Who the hell do the Yankees have to trade to acquire those players? :lol :lol You realize the Yankees have the best minor league pitching talent in baseball, right? Of course, I'm hoping the Yankees stand pat and don't do anything, but they certainly have the assets to acquire a Ken Griffey Jr. or Todd Helton. See: Joba Chamberlain, Dellin Betances, Jose Tabata, Alan Horne, Tyler Clippard, Jeff Marquez.
May 29, 200719 yr I thought the Yankees actually wouldn't mortgage a lot of the future of their franchise for quick band-aids like proposed above. Please, please, please go after more aging position players.
May 29, 200719 yr I thought the Yankees actually wouldn't mortgage a lot of the future of their franchise for quick band-aids like proposed above. Please, please, please go after more aging position players. Oh. In that case, yes. But, who does anyone have to trade if they don't want to mortgage their future?
May 29, 200719 yr In the 'proposed' deal above it has Abreu and/or Giambi possibly being traded. I lol'd. Unless the Skanks pay like 75+% of the salary (they could but again, lol), they can't deal those guys not to mention a lot of them have at least partial no trade clauses or 10/5 rights. The Yankees aren't out of anything by a long shot to need to go to extreme lengths to acquire two players who do little to help their current problems. As horrid as they have been they are what, ~7 games out of the wild card in May? BFD. Clemens will probably give them a short shot in the arm emotionally and there is plenty of time for them to get hot. Only people that hate them because they are good are stomping on them while they are down. Any realistic baseball fan knows there is way too much time left for them to have to go to extreme lengths to salvage a season.
May 29, 200719 yr I don't think you see the Yankees give up a lot to get Helton or Griffey. I'm sure they'd take them, but that lineup as it stands now should probably be top 5 the rest of the way in scoring runs. They need a better setup man than Farnsworth and some help off the bench.
May 30, 200719 yr Like Fox, I'd like to see the Yankees give up some of their young talent for aging veterans. The Yankees have a bright future, but October this year really isn't part of that bright future. They should hold onto thier young talent, but with the Clemons signing, it seems they're prepared to make an inevitably futile run this year. It's still early, but I don't see them catching the Red Sox, and the wild card will come from the central. They'd make better sellers than buyers at this point, but that would never happen.
May 30, 200719 yr Didn't they say Helton wasn't their kinda guy or something? I don't see either guy in pinstripes this year. I'd be in line to laugh if they did, though.
May 30, 200719 yr Todd Helton has a full no trade clause on his contract and he said he would not play for the yankees. If he were to be traded he wanted to go to boston. Thats what Jason Stark said a few weeks back on the Sid rosenberg show.
May 30, 200719 yr The Yankee teams of the mid to late 1990's that were so successful had virtually all of the core players developed with in the Yankee farm system it is only when they felt that they had to acquire every big superstar did they stop winning championships . The Yankees ceased being a team years ago and became a collection of all stars who dont function as a cohesive unit . And lets be honest if it was any other team other than the Yankees i dont think anyone of us would be suprised how poorly they are performing their pitching staff is extremely old or extremely young and they are thin in the bullpen , plus Rivera is a bit long in the tooth .
May 30, 200719 yr f*** this i am enjoying everything that is going in NYC with these underachiving losers...... they can get all the hitting they want, but they need pitching helton to the yanks does really nothing..... how come STRAY-ROD isnt calling out anybody, they all pretty much called him out last year..... the more they lose they more happier i get, too bad the muts had to be great this year..... the rocket comming on monday isnt going to really make that much of diffrence, right i would say Royals > Yanks.......
May 31, 200719 yr I really don't want to start a new thread for this , but first of all the NY Times(or was it the post?) taking a picture of Alex with another woman story is just ridiculous. Who cares? Anyways, I just clicked on an article about it, hoping to see the Blonde bombshell he was with but instead they have a picture of him with his current wife. WTH Alex?!!?? This might just be a bad pic, but my goodness does his wife look like a man/tranny:
May 31, 200719 yr Oh come on. She's actually a cutie and, thankfully, not a media whore. How she keeps such a low profile married to him, I have no idea...
May 31, 200719 yr A tranny? :| Why is there a new trend with guys always calling women or picking out which are 'trannies' now? I've noticed it with a bunch of my friends in the last year and various other places. I see nothing wrong with her.
May 31, 200719 yr Maybe that is a just a bad pic, but I am sticking with my opinion that she is too manly looking...I would never argue with someone about their opinion over a woman, so if you think she looks good, more power to you!
May 31, 200719 yr http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2007/05/...ut_at_home.html A petite stripper at the Hustler Club said A-Rod "likes the she-male, muscular type. They brought me up to the champagne room one time. I spun around once and that was it. I'm not his type." f***ing hilarious considering yesteday's conversation.
