What happened to Cabrera's leg? I am listening to the radio.

it looked like he aggrevated something when he swung the bat, not sure if

it was his leg or his left side acting up again.

Tweaked hamstring when he was running from first to third...great just what we need another injury. Dont these guys stretch? All these hammy tweaks are insane!!

He's day-to-day with a tweaked right hamstring.

I think the trainer should be fired.

Hopefully he can be back for the Friday game.

sh*t happens. Fornier would go first.

It was a right hamstring injury that knocked Miguel Cabrera out of Tuesday's game in the seventh inning.

As much as we'd like to see Val Pascucci up in the majors, the Marlins can't afford to be without Cabrera for any length of time. Should Cabrera go on the disabled list, the club could recall Pascucci and use him at first base, with Aaron Boone moving to third. Using Alfredo Amezaga at third and giving Reggie Abercrombie additional time in center would also be an option.

That paragraph just gets worse and worse as it goes on

even worse: Wood starting at first and boone to third. *pukes*

I don't know anything about Pascuzzi but he has been ripping triple A this year. I'm assuming the guy can rake.

He's only day to day.

Seems alright to assume that with the off-day Thursday, we won't see him tomorrow and we'll see him on Friday.

He is day-to-day (according to Rich and Tommy). We won't see him in tomorrow's game but after the off-day on Thursday, he'll most likely be back in the starting lineup on Friday.

Can Boone play third? How long till Big Mike can be a starter?

Boone is a 3rd baseman.

Can Boone play third? How long till Big Mike can be a starter?

Hes suppose to be a 3rd baseman, but i seriously believe he plays better at 1st.

First is an easier position. At any rate, he is not a true first basemen because his bat isn't up to par for that position. If he were a fulltime first basemen with no ability to play any other position he wouldn't be in the majors.

The Marlins can only cross their fingers and hope this latest injury to Miguel Cabrera is no more serious than the oblique strain he played through last month.

Tuesday night in Atlanta, Cabrera was yanked for a pinch runner in the top of the seventh. He left with what the Marlins are calling a tight right hamstring and had a big bag of ice wrapped around the leg after this 5-1 win over the Braves.

Cabrera said he suffered the injury swinging the bat on the leadoff single that inning. It's unclear whether it was on the swing itself or during his exit from the batter's box, but whatever the case he felt a twinge going from first to third on Josh Willingham's subsequent double.

Fredi Gonzalez saw the way Cabrera was running and quickly got his meal ticket out of there. Cabrera will sit out today's day game, which he was going to do anyway, and the Marlins will hope Thursday's off day will help him heal in time.

Still, with the Devil Rays coming in over the weekend followed by the much more dangerous Indians, it wouldn't be a shock to see them be extra cautious with the Maracay Masher. Maybe he doesn't play until Saturday or Sunday at the earliest.

Maybe they save him until the Indians get here for the '97 Anniversary celebration.

Cabrera, for all the knocks about his conditioning, has been remarkably durable, missing just 10 games total the past three years. But unless he pinch hits, today will mark his fourth missed game this year out of the first 61.

Anyone else sensing a disturbing trend here? Or am I making too much out of nothing?

A disturbing trend, regarding the Marlins' injuries in general? Or is he hinting at Cabrera's weight as the reason for his injuries?

As far as that author's implication about Cabrera's weight leading to all these injuries, they're flukey things, today's happened on the back end of a double header, an injury that has happened just this year to two of the fittest players on our team (Mitre, Hanley). The oblique is just a normal baseball injury, and if I'm not mistaken, the oblique is what led to the weight issue because Miggy didn't do anything after suffering that injury.

I do think Fredi should have pulled Cabs after he hobbled to first. He may have injured himself further by running to 3rd on the Hammer double.

Since RVH probably will be sent down maybe we could bring up that Vally guy from the Topes to replace RVH spot? Then when go from there.

The weight does not help and Miggy needs to figure that out soon. He is a third baseman, he hits, he runs and getting his butt in shape is not something I can see being as argueable. He has been getting growing at an alarming rate.

Leave Jason, who got a key hit last night, out of it.

No, it's alarming because we have grown accostomed to Miggy showing up out of shape and playing his way into shape.

This year, he showed up in shape, by all accounts seriously hurt his oblique and was severly limited in what he could do (read: nothing) and got out of shape. Now he tweaks his hammy, on the back end of a double header, when 2 incredibly fit players had already done so previously, and we want to blame Miggy's weight for all the injuries?

Come on. The oblique begat the weight and the hammy is a fluke baseball injury.

If, come July, Miggy's still large, it's a problem, but you can't blame the chicken for the egg, or the egg for hatching a chicken.

True, you dont really know if any injuries would have happened or if the severity would be different if he was not as heavy. Look, Uggie was out last yr with a hammy, Lo Duca had a severe one two years ago-but they didnt gain 15 lbs. If you can't work out as much, you need to modify your intake. The oblique is tough, but you can still ride a stationary bike (first hand knowledge) and burn some calories. It is the turning and twisting that causes a problem.
