July 12, 200719 yr Author the no call by the referee on doni's blatant violation on that last penalty kick was disgraceful. uruguay did not deserve it though after they missed the winning kick. Yea, I agree. And Ruiz appaerently warned the goalie before the penalties started. Happens every time, refs keep favoring Brazil every time. Man, oh man.
July 12, 200719 yr wow what a game last night between MEX - ARG the first half was really well balanced, I was really impressed with Mexico as I thought they had been the best playing squad in the tourny thus far. Mexico came close to goal a couple of times and actually hit the crossbar TWICE. The game just completely changed after the first Argentina goal, which was a lesson in set pieces by the argentinians, they completely fooled the goalie and the whole mexican squad, after that it was never the same for mexico. how abotu the second goal by Messi? ... man that was sweet, completely over the head of the goalie with a soft lob. amazing goal. ... well it was expected and im sure a bit rigged as well Argentina - VS - Brazil in the final

Why was it rigged? Seems to me Argentina won fair and square. Mexico didn't capitalize on their chances, then their goalie fell asleep on the set piece and it was all downhill from there.
July 12, 200719 yr Not rigged. Argentina is clearly the superior side. You could tell from the first 10 minutes of play.
July 12, 200719 yr I dont necessarely mean last night, just the fact that Brazil and Argentina were on different legs so they could meet in the final Argentina won fair and square
July 12, 200719 yr I dont necessarely mean last night, just the fact that Brazil and Argentina were on different legs so they could meet in the final Argentina won fair and square Ah gotcha. Perhaps. Don't know how Concacaf does the group sorting.
July 12, 200719 yr Argentina will win this Copa. They are playing ridiculously well, and when your two top players are as ON as Messi and Roman have been, you can forget it. Say what you want about Brasil, they won on PKs (cheating btw). Their side is not as strong as the Albicelestes side. I'm excited for any Argentina - Brasil game, and I'm more excited for this repeat final. Tango vs. Samba Albiceleste vs. Verdeamarela Maradona vs. Pele Messi vs. Robinho White vs. Black Patagonia vs. Amazona La pasion Argentina vs. The Jogo Bonito Heart vs. Skill Argentina vs. Brasil, at any level, the best rivalry in international competition. Hands down.
July 12, 200719 yr well it would be a serious dissapointment if Argentina loses the final Argentina has a better squad that the one they brought to the world cup, NOT ONE other team in the competition could say that they brought their A squad. One side: Messi, Riquelme, Crespo, Milito,Veron, Zanetti, Mascherano ... list goes on x10 against Robinho ....................... Baptista, Gilberto Silva and a bunch of first names: Juan, Alex, Diego, Fernando, Jose, Miguel, Carlos and whichever other guy that goes by his first name that nobody knows you want to add. Its sad that the most notorious player on the Brazilian squad is the coach. (ps. I made up a couple of those names because I seriously dont know more than 3 people on the Brazil team)

But Brasil is tough with that strike force of "Miguel, Jose, and Carlos". Don't forget star defender "Arnaldo".

Argentina has like 20 million and same number of championships and Copa Americas. Thats what I thought.

Here comes Uruguay trying to have a claim to fame on something. Tango was not "invented" by Gardel. Sure, Gardel is the most famous tango artist, and yes he is Uruguayan. Tango evolved out of the barrios of Buenos Aires and Montevideo as well, long before Gardel was born. Gardel, though born in Uruguay, was raised in Argentina and had Argentinean citizenship.

Don't compare the two.

Don't compare the two. They both have the same amount of world cups and copa americas. With Uruguay having about 1/5 of the population. And size dosent matter, because Uruguay along with Chile and Costa Rica are the countries who according to the world bank have the best gov. in latin america.
July 16, 200719 yr huge upset and yes it was an upset by Brazil today as their "B" squad defeated a fully-loaded Argentina Props to Brazil for winning the tournament
July 16, 200719 yr Brazil's B Team isn't really (and never is) any worse than their A Team. Difference being that the guys on the A Team are more well-known. In fact, I think Brazil could probably have 4 different teams and they would be ranked 1-4 in the world.

I mean, if you have seen the way Argentina played throughout this whole tournament, and then the way Brazil "B Team" just steamrolled them, it's hard to argue with that one.
July 17, 200719 yr Author All the "experts" were saying that Argentina was gonna blow Brazil out, so they were over confident. This was the only game that Brazil impressed me in other than the Chile game.
