Dude, I was just getting my doomsday on. Isn't that the hip thing you kids do here?

Newsflash, for the hundredth time: We are not a play off team.

horrible game.... lost hanley...... another no-run support for mitre night.... defense didn't look too shabby except for the 3 horrible throws that caused the game. otherwise i would see a 1 to 0 win...... or 1 to 1 given it's a bit harder play from right field.

ps. anyone else sick of this inside the marlins: matt treanor ? lol everytime i put on FSN if it isnt a horrible rayss game or "inside the rays dioner navarro" it's this crap.

Ok, we aren't a playoff team this year, we get that. What's so wrong about being unhappy about our team losing games in sh*tty ways?

I don't think people realize just how good the Padres are this year. I won't be the least bit surprised if we drop 3-4 or even get swept. It says a lot about Mitre's ability to go out and hold that offense to just 3 hits. Hell of a job.

The Padres are dead last in AVE, 15th in OBP, and 13th in SLG. 2nd in the NL in Ks(50 behind us). 12th in total bases. They can take collectively take a walk(5th), but besides that they are a bottom 4 offensive team in the NL.

An offense juggernaut the Padres are not.

The problem with this "argument" is that it ignores the two otherimportant facets of the game - pitching and defense - both of which they're pretty good at. It isn't all about offense.

This is a good team. I'm not happy or accepting of losing to any team, but we don't have to be bad (although we can be) to lose to good teams.

Until these guys learn to do the little things (Uggla further in when the infield was in, Olivo on top of the plate instead of in front of it, getting runners over, hitting a nice little fly ball with a runner on third and less than two outs, etc.) we're not a playoff team. These little things take a while to learn, unfortunately.

This is not our year.

that game was pretty much what the Padres are.

Good pitching, good bullpen, not much offense. They manufactured runs however, something we were unable to do. Had to be frustrating for Mitre, he probably felt like he couldn't afford to give up a single run.

I'm pleased with some of the starting pitching we're getting recently (Willis, Kim, Mitre, etc) but we just can't seem to get the bats and pitchers going at the same time.
