November 29, 200718 yr I am calling out to all Marlin fans to join together and attend the FIU football game at the Orange Bowl on Sat. Dec 1. Admission is FREE as long as you donate canned food. We can all get together and meet somewhere outside the stadium so we can all sit together and make a statement. It is irrelevant if you agree with the OB site or not. I think that the OB site is much better than the team relocating. Forget all your excuses and plan to attend this game so we can represent the Marlins. Make sure to wear your Marlins shirts, jerseys, etc... Please respond in this thread if you plan to attend.

November 29, 200718 yr Author Good idea. I'll be there regardless though. WE SHOULD ALL DECIDE ON WHERE TO MEET
November 29, 200718 yr Relax on the caps, dude. I'll be tailgating. I guess I'll see you guys inside.

November 29, 200718 yr By the way, the game is a charity event. You have to bring canned goods and unwrapped toys to get in. Orange Bowl's last game to benefit charities Posted on Wed, Nov. 28, 2007 The final football game to be played at Miami's Orange Bowl Stadium -- Saturday's tilt between host Florida International University and the University of North Texas -- will be turned into a charity benefit. Canned goods and new, unwrapped toys will be accepted as the price of admission for the 7 p.m. game. Gates open at 5 p.m. FIU athletes later will deliver the toys to Amigos for Kids, while food donations will go to the Daily Bread Food Bank. FIU Athletic Director Pete Garcia said the city of Miami has waived customary fees, allowing the university to accept donations in place of tickets. ''The players, the fans and indeed the entire community can feel good about this game, regardless of what happens on the field,'' Garcia said in a news release. http://www.miamiherald.com/news/miami_dade/story/323368.html
November 29, 200718 yr I'd go just because it's free and i've never been inside the Orange Bowl, but i'm gonna be in New York that day.
November 29, 200718 yr That would show real support-attending an FIU game, free or not. Anyway, for those not going, go see the Austrailian Pink Floyd at the Filmore on Sat. night (the old Gleason theater). If you like the Floyd, after a few songs, you won't realize these guys are not the real thing. Oh, and you can wear your Marlins cap for support.
November 29, 200718 yr You guys should just bring a sign that says "Future Home of the Florida Marlins"
November 29, 200718 yr You guys should just bring a sign that says "Future Home of the Florida Marlins" Hmmm... I think I'll do that.

Don't advertise this as a rally for the Marlins Stadium because the lack of fans there will only hurt the cause. Remember that rally to save the OB? I think maybe 10 people showed up. Had a few thousand Canes fans been there, I don't know if that would have changed the University's mind about moving to DS, but I bet the fact that so few attended made their decision that much easier.
November 30, 200718 yr That would be a win for me on all ends! First, I get to see an actual football game at the Orange Bowl (sad that I've lived here 20 years and have never been...sad I know), I get to support my future Alma Mater in the Golden Panthers AND I get to rally for the Marlins. Count me in! :thumbup

November 30, 200718 yr I'd like to get the bad taste out of my mouth(0-48) before they demolish the place but I all ready have plans, so I can't make it.
November 30, 200718 yr the other side will be FIU related, just not sure what to put yet. How about "WE'RE #119!"?
November 30, 200718 yr the other side will be FIU related, just not sure what to put yet. How about "WE'RE #119!"? Oh, you are so hilarious. At least I still support my team. You know how people are around here in Miami.
November 30, 200718 yr We haven't gotten much attendance this year, to be honest. It's mostly students and alumni. If only our record was better. Oh well. They're still fun to go to because people are so into it. Everyone should go though. Watch some football at the OB for the last time.

You know how people are around here in Miami. I agree, and good job with that. But come on, it was funny! Hell, it was one of the guys on the team that told me that in the first place.
December 2, 200718 yr I still find it wrong that Miami didn't play the last game at the OB... better off the OB's last game see the home team win
