December 6, 200718 yr what happened to Ensberg's ability to make contact over the past 2 seasons? 2006 wasn't bad .396 obp and .463 slg was good. Last season was pretty horrible though. by contact I was referring to his batting average (I realize that isn't the be all/end all because he does walk and does have a nice slugging) .235/.232 the last 2 seasons
December 6, 200718 yr Go back to Colletti and get LaRoche. We're not going back to the Angels for Wood, so I would say he's the guy you want. The Dodgers need pitching prospects going forward and relievers for 2008. If there's a better 3B prospect/ready for prime-timer go get him but if we're going young(er) do the right thing and at least see if we can pry LaRoche away somehow.
December 6, 200718 yr Ensberg would be worth a shot. High upside, low risk. The ESPN blog mentioned an option could be Uggla to 3B and Fredo to 2B. I think it was just the writer speculating and not based on anything he got from the team. That would be terrible.

December 6, 200718 yr If for some odd reason the FO really wants to move Uggla to 3b I wouldn't mind picking up Felipe Lopez if he's non-tendered by the Nats. I really dont want Uggla to move from 2b though. Edit: n/m he's been pretty bad since 2005.

LaRoche is one of a handful of players who, if the interest was there on the other side, I would move Gregg and a high prospect for. You gotta give to get.

I love the fact he hit righties at a .309/.414/.533 clip. He struggled vs lefties though.
December 8, 200718 yr I just don't think Mithcell has enough power. I'd be surprised if he coud SLG over .420 in the majors. He could give a decent OBP...but 3B needs to be one of your top offensive outputs. Could try moving him to secondbase where he could have some value, see if he can handle the posistion. And that's even assuming last year wasn't a fluke year...which has to be taken into consideration when you look at his minor league career. Dude's pretty old, too, when talking about prospects

He'd be terrible offensively given a whole year IMO. play the hot bat with him and andino could be an option. show off andino hope he gets some trade value before coughlan is ready. theres so many options not even including the possibility of trades and signings. spring training will sort everything out. i for one want to see andino start games in spring to reduce inflation of stats against single-A pitchers that end up pitching late in games

My vote would be to move Hanley to 3B and split time w/ Amezaga & Andino at SS. I suggest it mainly because we do already have those two, who are primarily SS as opposed to needing to acquire/develop another 3B or 2B (or convert someone from another position). The only conversion involved here (Hanley to 3B) would be smoother than any of the others IMO. Plus I think the chances of us signing anyone with decent experience to fill the spot is close to zero, for the same reason we need to even have this discussion.

And NNY...Mitchell aint that old. 25(ish) right? mitchell born Born: April 21, 1982 so hes 25 will turn 26 in the beginning of the season lets see hope gaby can play defense or hope mitchell's 07 season wasnt a fluke idk if those stats are right but 11 erros at third in 30 games in 05 does not impress and those 3 years batting under .260 from 04-06 makes you really wonder i must say i am glad there are other options because a guy who never hit above a ball and a guy who is prime candidate for a fluke season in 07 would not be good for entering the season.

And when you don't have a good minor league year until you're 25, that just sets off red-flags. I do like his eye though, 13.4% walk percent last year, which could be valueable at 2B...and he has played 19 games at SS and one at 2B so it's not like moving him around would be groundbreaking.

Owens had great minor league numbers And once Lindstrom was moved to the bullpen he had a good year. You're also talking about pitchers, which is different from hitters.
