March 23, 200818 yr You know you're bad when your opening day starter is Mark Hendrickson. i wouldnt be surprised at all if he has quite a good year By June Hendrickson will be our 5th starter if that at all
March 23, 200818 yr Mark Hendrickson vs. Johan Santana. The greatest pitching duel of all time. :lol :lol :lol Cy Young vs The Giraffe
March 23, 200818 yr Any idea when we will here who the other starters will be? As well as won won cf?

March 24, 200818 yr Mark Hendrickson vs. Johan Santana. The greatest pitching duel of all time. hahahaha. Gosh I hope we destroy him opening day
March 24, 200818 yr All I am saying is that we might be pleasantly surprised by Hendrickson now that he can see. I really think he can and WILL be a great pitcher this year. I'm more with you 2 rather than the habitual gloom and doomers. Maybe not "great", but I think he will be reliable and serviceable.
March 24, 200818 yr Hendrickson wasn't brought aboard as ace of the staff or the Opening Day pitcher. Injuries and set-backs of others is the reason he's being handed the ball. He'll eventually settle into a 3-4 slot where he belongs. He's stepping up because he was asked to, I don't understand the criticism when the decision wasn't in his control. If it's any comfort Hendrickson had a 1.66 ERA last April and 4.02 pre-All-Star game in 2007.

I can't believe I waste my time being realistic when I should just be grateful to Mark Hendrickson that he is not only willing to play baseball as a job for lots of money, but that he is stepping up to be our opening day starter as well! I think you are magic, 2003. :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy Oh my god, is that Reggie Abercrombie in your avatar???? AS A GARBAGE MAN??? THAT IS SO FUNNY!!!!

March 24, 200818 yr Jimmy all you can with these trolls masquerading as Marlins fans is let them go about their business and eventually like those before them, they'll fade away. Unfortunately, the stench remains for a while but even that disappears with time.
March 24, 200818 yr I don't even like the fact we have Mark Hendrickson. I look at this as a nice development year. I'm more excited to watch Miller, Vanden Hurk, Olsen, and the rest. I was looking forward to a Santana vs. Miller Opening Day. I'm going to the game...ah well, hopefully, Hendrickson can give us a win.

I've said it before, and I will say it again, he couldn't find the strikezone with a compass and a map. He has had no control to speak of in ST. At least Hendrickson has shown some control in ST.

Unfortunately, the stench remains for a while but even that disappears with time. I think anyone claiming to be a Marlins fan at this point is pretty much die-hard, and they'll doubtfully fade away...'cause It appears that our team is not even close to competing this year or for the near future and we just dealt arguably our greatest player in franchise history for a prospect who's future is unknown....so If he were to fade away, it would have already happened. The team we have now can only get better, yes. With the stadium in place, the future looks pretty bright, but as for 2008, the Marlins are pretty pathetic...I think that's what GarbageMan is trying to say. Nothing wrong with having a little optimism though :thumbup

Oh...don't get me wrong...RIGHT NOW, Hendrickson DESERVES the Opening Day start, with Olsen and Mitre injured. However, I'm just excited this year to watch the young guys...and Miller is one of them. 22 years old, the kid is nasty. They compare him to a young Randy Johnson in scouting reports, etc. Hopefully, he continues to develop, and starts finding the strike zone more often. He has ace potential.
March 24, 200818 yr Talent and potential is nice, yes. And if you are happy when this team loses 90+ games each of the next two years as long as Chris Volstad, Rick Vanden Hurk, Andrew Miller, and Cameron Maybin MIGHT be really good some day, then I am happy for you. Not everyone is as excited as you are to pay for a major league product and watch a guy with potential throw 110 pitches in 5 innings the way Andrew Miller is going to many times this season. I won't be rooting for the Pirates any time soon, although I am guaranteeing that being a Pirates fan will be easier than being a Marlins fan this season. IMO...with improved defense...we dont come close to losing 90 games...hell...everything that could have possibly went wrong last year, did...and with great frequency...and we only lost 91... hey wait a minute...i have an idea...if you dont want to pay for the games...then dont friggin go...i live in massachusetts...i dont get to attend marlins games unless they play up here in fenway(but ill will be going to opening day 2011) and id pay an arm and a leg for these seats no matter what kind of a marlins team we put on the field and to me...going through years like last year is what makes winning a title that much more special...all the games i went to in 93, 94, 95, 96, 98, 99, 00, and 01 and saw crap play, but IMPROVING crap...made 97 and 03 days on years in which i shall never forget...sh*t, it brings a tear to my eye to watch bonilla's clutch 8th inning homer and counsell crossing the plate and beckett tag out posada and watch pudge kiss homeplate...i wouldnt trade those moments for anything and being a fan of team in the pirates that hasnt sniffed the postseason in 15 years will hardly be easy...yesterday i was a proud marlins fan, today im a proud marlins fan, and tomorrow ill be a proud marlins fan...and nothing will change that
March 24, 200818 yr Jimmy all you can with these trolls masquerading as Marlins fans is let them go about their business and eventually like those before them, they'll fade away. Unfortunately, the stench remains for a while but even that disappears with time. First of all, I won't be going anywhere anytime soon, my friend. I would miss you far too much. I was outraged when they brought Jorge Julio in last year, and you were there calling me a troll and telling me how negative I was and how I needed to give him a chance back then. The signing of old and sucky Mark Hendrickson as a fifth starter annoyed me at first, but he fact that he is our opening day starter is simply nauseating. You always cry when someone tells you that you are wrong, but have no problem telling other people how they should react to certain things. You are a classic crybaby, and it is really hard to believe that you are a grown man. Marlins will lose on opening day 8-1, by the way. :thumbup I'll take a month long ban bet that that isn't the final score.
March 24, 200818 yr Mark Hendrickson is a natural fifth starter. What the hell is he doing pitching opening day for us?
