Marlin Fan Population

Featured Replies

I have been seeing a lot of fans at school lately. A lot of cars with marlins logos, and a lot of people wearing shirts.

I am in Naples right now for a couple months, and I actually see quite a few Marlin fans over here. I think our fan base is 2nd only to the Dolphins in South Florida sports.

1. Dolphins

2. Marlins

3. Hurricanes

4. Heat

5. Panthers

The Panthers fanbase is actually pretty strong in northwest Broward/Boca etc.

Still have to think it is pretty far behind the Heat though, no?

+1 here

getting some ppl into it at work also, see that im always talking about the games there. always rocking the Marlins liscense plate when i drive around.

I have mine too. I am proud to support my team :).

I, too, am a proud marlins fan, and I approve of this message

It all depends on who is winning. Miami is about as bandwagon as they come.

you can count one more in massachusetts - repped the '03 playoffs hoodie at the red sox game last night.

Wow how did you come up with these positions... the Panthers have a pretty good 80 percent filled capacity per game. In all honesty, being a fan of both teams, my ranks would look like this, and without those stupid spacings because thats a bit ignorant...

and thats talkin about South Florida fan bases, not sales, attendance, etc.

Been a fan since 1994... Connecticut represent!

fan since 1993...live in Miami, school in Hamden! Diehard Fish fan who goes to 20+ home games and 5+ road games per year!

Not to many of us up in New Haven. WAY to many Sox and Yankees fans for my liking.

Yale SUCKS! ;) GO QUINNIPIAC! Are you from Florida originally like me as well?

The Panthers DEFINENTLY are #2 or 3 in the market and they aren't bandwagon like the other teams

The Panthers are higher than last. As a matter of fact, Marlins fans should be last on the list. If the Panthers had won 2 cups in a decade, we'd be seeing more sellouts at the BAC. The BAC also has more live crowds, imo.

2.5 I'm from Florida, but my family is from PA, so yeah, san since '93 when my mom abandoned the Pirates after "the play" in '92

My list is not based on live crowds or who has more "live crowds"(huh?) It is based on who has the highest amount of fans in South Florida, winning or losing. Yes, I do think that is the Marlins. We are the most successful franchise (not counting the Canes here) in South Florida for the last dozen plus years or so.

Yes the attendance numbers aren't great, but we really do have more outside factors contributing to that than any other franchise. Rain is a near daily threat in South Florida during baseball season, and the majority just are not going to drive a long distance if the threat exists of the game being canceled. Plus you need to factor in the strike and extreme fire sales.

But if you look at attendance numbers+TV Ratings+radio ratings, you are out of your mind if you think the Panthers have a larger fan base than the Florida Marlins. Not even worth arguing.

Now that you say that, it's actually true, so good job.

But seriously, the Panthers are underrated as far as fans goes. The only reason the BAC doesn't draw more people, is simply b/c the franchise hasn't done squat in 8 years.

#1 I think is the Dolphins though, bro. Just listen to the radio. It's a disgrace to sports shows around the country, down here.

I'm a big time Panther fan myself and I think going to an NHL game is second only behind baseball as far as the most exciting sport to watch live. I love going to the BAC. So yes, I think the Panthers have a ton of loyal fans and we can be a successful franchise down here, we just need to be at least average. We have been downright horrible for too long, it really is unfortunate.

And yea, you get no argument from me about the Dolphins. They definitely rule this market.

Bandwagon or not, I wouldn't put the Fish or the Panthers before Dolphins, Canes, or Heat. The attendance is in the bottom 5 in the league and their ratings aren't even as good as the Marlins.

Yes i was kidding/exaggerating, but to an extent, it's the truth :p

The Marlins have a ton of fans, but nobody is going to make the effort to risk a rain delay to drive to N. Dade to watch a game in a football stadium until the team makes an effort to not only be good but stay good.

Back on topic, Gainesville(UF at least) has many more fans than I expected. I'd say the team breakdown is like this up here:

1. Marlins

2. Rays

3. Yankees

4. Braves
