Admin
Pinto has been the team MVP thus far for the Marlins.
Admin
Pinto has been a major surprise and way to go Helms -- bringing back memories of those clutch hits from his last tour with the fish.
Hollyberry
Didn't Rich and Tommy say something about our bullpen and how it is the best in the league (ERA)?
Tee Ball Bunt Machine
Can't say enough good about Pinto. Even if his highlights look silly. Glad to see Helms come through like we remember. Made me ok with them having taken out Jacobs. Nice to see Uggla pick up a few hits and draw a clutch lead-off walk. Too bad I don't think we've really had him and Hermida do well at the plate on the same night, but I'm sure the best is yet to come from both of them this season. How about Jacobs? Broken bat doubles, doubles the other way, 2 RBI tonight. Even with tha big swing, he seems like a different hitter this year. How about the speed of Willingham - another triple. The defense was a little troubling though, particularly to me the balls that got past Mike Rabelo. And shouldn't he be going after a pop up right in between the mound and the plate? And having to watch this game on MASN, it is indesribably annoying to hear their announcers butcher Badenhop's name along with Rabelo's. They even called Badenhop Bruce a few times. And they pondered whether or not they were being mocked during the president's race. Speaking of Badenhop though, all these young SP need to just keep throwing strikes. They seem to constanly get the first two and then stop being aggressive, expecting them to chase a third ball after laying off two in a row. Hotcorner
I missed the first few innings, what was the problem with Badenhop? Just control issues?
Bret Hart
Fish record 5-0 in one run game in this season WOW
IrishHarrington
The Marlins bullpen is one of the best in baseball in terms of quality and depth , hopefully they can hold up until some our inured quality starting pitching comes back. Our record really is amazing considering our starting pitching Olsen has been good , hendrickson has been solid , 3-5 he have gotten nothing on most nights
Tee Ball Bunt Machine
I missed the first few innings, what was the problem with Badenhop? Just control issues? 5 BB, 4Ks, 3ER in 3IP. There was an error or two behind him I think so can't put it all on him. But he threw a ton of pitches, maybe 30 in the first inning. 80 total, only 41 for strikes. Many times I think he would just get two strikes and then stop being aggressive and lead to a walk.
Rabbethan
Just got home...man, that was awesome. I love that we put up 6 runs, no homers, even though I was in the power alley and a homer would have been nice. Sucks that Gregg gave it up though, even though I half blame the defense. Hanley for the error and Hermida for the misplay in right. Not sure how it looked on TV, but Jeremy clearly misplayed that ball. I made a deal with Helms at the game. He gets a hit and I forget all the crap that he said about the team after he got a big contract. He came through, and I don't know what I was talking about. I missed the first few innings, what was the problem with Badenhop? Just control issues? Yeah, couldn't throw a strike worth sh*t. The ones he did throw didn't look bad though. Erick
Positives 1. Wes Helms 1st hit of the year...a big one. Clutch! 2. Dan Uggla snaps out of his skid, with 2 hard hit balls tonight. 2 hits for Dan. 3. The middle relief work of Logan Kensing and Reynel Pinto. They kept us in the game. Considering both of the runs on Gregg in the 9th were unearned, the pen went 6 innings tonight, allowing 0 Earned runs, and a grand total of 3 hits. 4. The team is now 5-0 in 1 run games. Negatives 1. 4 errors is terrible. I mean, the scorekeeper didn't help either...Hanley's play in the 9th was a lot tougher than it looked. Probably could've had an out, but with Cristian Guzman running, that could've easily been a hit, even if Hanley had gotten to the ball. But still...the D was bad tonight. 2. Burke Badenhop was wild tonight. 5 walks in 3 innings, ain't cutting it. With that said, I actually see Badenhop staying up, and maturing at the big league level this year. 3. Kevin Gregg. Seriously, you can make excuses for some plays that could've been played in the 9th, but still...his control worries me, and upsets me, at times. He has the stuff, yet some days, he can't find the plate. It might be time for some new prescription glasses, or something. He's gonna give me gray hairs at the age of 16, lol. Rabbethan
BTW, with the error Jake had on the popup infront of the plate, shouldn't Rabelo have tried to catch that?

Fish Tank Frenzy
Great victory even if Gregg, who was terrible, got a win he didnt deserve. Anyone else upset that Fredi decided not to pinch hit for Badenhop and still pulled him. Why didnt he pull Hopper? After Hopper got out Hanley got on, stole second and made his way to third when uggla hit him in. The inning could've been so much bigger if he had pinch hit for Hopper. Wondering if anyone else noticed or cared?
Erick
BTW, with the error Jake had on the popup infront of the plate, shouldn't Rabelo have tried to catch that? YES As a matter of fact, he should've caught both because the play prior to that, Jacobs had caught one similar. I don't know what the heck Rabelo was thinking...but he didn't even move, in both cases. With that said, Rabelo not moving can't beat what Cristian Guzman did in the 4th inning, in the "what was he thinking" part of this thread. Wondering if anyone else noticed or cared? I asked the same question in the gamethread, but I received an answer that made sense. It was the 3rd inning, and it was pointless wasting a bench player so early in an inning that already had 1 out in it, with no one on base. miami-sports-geek
Not a great showing for B-Bop, but hey, we won, right? Our bullpen leaves me speechless sometimes. What admirable work. Great crowd tonight, too. I sat next to a really decent old-timer and we just talked baseball ya know. Had a blast. The concert started slow but picked up I should say. Fun times at Dolphin Stadium. Fun times.

He looked good for the first two hitters and then just started throwing all over the place. All of his runs came with two outs.

I agree, When I saw him not go after the first one, I was like "what the hell?". Then that set up the error on the 2nd one. Ridiculous. Isn't he supposed to be the defensive upgrade? And yeah...that was the easiest double play I had ever seen.
