May 23, 200818 yr Amazing. So what's the verdict, 30plus? I was thinking something like "30plus is a God among men. His incredible intellectual ability is unrivaled by all. Fear him, for he can cause a Mets fan's brain to implode just through contact with his holy and piercing eyes." Nah, don't worry about it. The Marlins just swept the best team in the NL so we'll call it even. NO NO NO! A sig bet is a thing of honor. You are disrespecting Benched, MB.com, Andrew Miller, and the Internet by not doing something! If I were you, I would make it I DOUBTED ANDREW MILLER. 30PLUS SLAPPED THE SILLY OUT OF ME AND SET ME STRAIGHT. :lol Don't hold back now. Lol Rab....ok, use his version if you insist. Done. It'll be up for three weeks, same duration as the bet. Come on, make it bigger than that. Atleast bold it. You're such a pain in the ass. :rofl
May 23, 200818 yr It sucks that we aren't gaining any ground though. you just had to say something negative, didn't you? Plus, last I checked, we gained 3.5 games on the Mets, the last 3 days...so we did gain ground on the Mets. We haven't gained ground in FIRST PLACE.Still a 1.5 game lead. yet we still gained ground on a contender. ...and after sweeping the best team in the NL, facing 2 of the best pitchers in MLB the last 2 games...ALL is good. Hopefully, we take at least 2 of 3 from the Giants now, before heading to Shea. WEEEEEE GAINEDDDDDD NOOOOOOOO GROUNDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.We are playing great but we GAINED NO GROUND on our division lead.
May 23, 200818 yr I was at this game and I loved Andrew Miller's sextacular performance. (Yes I just made a new word) OMG!!!
May 23, 200818 yr Author :lol LMAO Rab...you really do respect the sig bet. Disrespecting the sig bet is disrespecting MB. And disrespecting MB is disrespecting marlins fans, which is disrispecting baseball fans, which is disrepecting baseball. And once you get to that, you start disrespecting America. I love America.
May 23, 200818 yr Glad to see what I said a week or so ago turns out to be true - Wiley and company knew better than the rest of us, and knew Miller could & would work out of his early season issues when they opted not to send him down. Can't overstate the value of timely hitting. And sweeping what has been considered the best team in the NL, maybe best in all MLB early on, and doing it against their best pitchers, it makes a statement. There's no reason to worry about playing Philly or the Mets again. This team is for real.
May 23, 200818 yr this series was full of so much awesome I can't believe it. Wonder what odds you could've gotten on a Marlins sweep...

May 23, 200818 yr Author this series was full of so much awesome I can't believe it. Wonder what odds you could've gotten on a Marlins sweep... I'm looking at some of the lines before game 1...and I don't understand any of it, so I'm no help here.

May 23, 200818 yr This was the fish's fifth shutout of the season, one more than they had all of last season. And the starting pitching hasn't been the core early on, go figure.
May 23, 200818 yr I was at this game and I loved Andrew Miller's sextacular performance. (Yes I just made a new word) OMG!!! I came up with the word years ago. :whistle Prove it. Now. With video. And biological (and chemical) proof. And a mallet.
May 23, 200818 yr Wonder what odds you could've gotten on a Marlins sweep... I was reading a Diamondbacks forum earlier and there is this guy who simulates the games before the series to get an idea of what the odds and percentages are. Not sure exactly what he uses to do this. Anyway, here's what he came up with. 1000 simulations, stats updated last night 5/20/2008 OWINGS vs. HENDRICKSON Average Score: ARI 5.26, FLA 4.64 Dbacks win 52.6% of the time 5/21/2008 WEBB vs. NOLASCO Average Score: ARI 4.69, FLA 3.16 Dbacks win 62.7% of the time 5/22/2008 HAREN vs. MILLER Average Score: ARI 4.98, FLA 3.85 Dbacks win 58.6% of the time Series odds Dbacks go 3-0 20% Dbacks go 2-1 42% Dbacks go 1-2 31% Dbacks go 0-3 8%
May 23, 200818 yr Apparently there was no bad luck coming from me making the game thread. But I'm not going to make any more. I don't want to ruin anything. And I present...a picture of a broom:

May 23, 200818 yr Fastball topped out at 98 MPH. :o Wow. He had everything going today. Before tonight, he never reached 95. That's amazing.
May 23, 200818 yr the marlins made the natives out here very restless - everyone is complaining about how they can't hit on the road and were shut out by no-name pitchers and a smoke and mirrors team no one, myself included, expected wins over both haren and webb - after the last two series I was feeling that they would maybe get 1 of 3 love the sweep and will keep me smiling in the office for a while

Their line up is not nearly as strong as they thought, although their pitching is just as advertised. But remember, like all fans in baseball, you never give credit to the other team for beating you :thumbup
May 23, 200818 yr Excellent series. Can't be too confident against San Francisco though. I don't want to see a repeat of the KC series. I'm anxious to see if Jones will contribute.
May 23, 200818 yr In his first 25 innings this year, he averaged 21 pitches per. In his last 25, he's averaged 16 pitches per.
May 23, 200818 yr nope - game starts when we are still at work so a bunch of us were following it online and across the room I hear a coworker groan about not being able to beat the marlins - going to the series out here in phx last year I'm glad he had a short memory the d'backs have a really good team - they will go through peaks and valleys though - a lot of young aggressive hitters who will strike out - reynolds, upton, and some of the guys who got called up last year are going through the same stuff that guys like jackson, drew and snyder experienced last year - it's not as easy as it looks to go out and consistently deliver i hope they kick the snot out of the braves though and the marlins don't follow this up with anything less than a strong showing against the giants
