Postgame thread 5/26

Some Mets fans have said we are a "fake first place" team... better "fake first place" than "real 4th place"

Even though we aren't a fake first, LOL that they are a real fourth place!

Ricky didn't have it tonight, but he was there mentally. He didn't let his struggles get to him and was able to get out of it with minimum damage.

Beautiful D. Great plays all over the diamond.

Beautiful hitting. We took advantage of our opertunities tonight.

Beautiful relief. Waechter, Pinto, and Nelson combined for 4 perfect innings, with no baserunners of any kind.

Beautiful game. We can fatten up on the Mets, hopefully...

Nolasco finally gets a win versus the Mets. Not a great start, but a win is a win.

I find it funny how people cherry pick stats. I was just reading the Braves message board. Maybe they should look at their own record on the road. EVERY team has weaknesses but the only stat that matters is wins and losses.

Am I the only one who think Ricky had a good game? He didn't lose it for us. He was in trouble but got some big outs and held the lead we gave him.

No, we can't fatten up a good team like the Mets. They will obviously fatten up those last place Marlins ;)

Seriously though...best line of the night, Rab!

Ricky wasn't looking too good at first but settled down and kept us in the game. The bullpen did a nice job as well (Waechter looking great). Ten games over .500 and it feels goooood. :cheers

What do you say NOW, Willie? :mischief

And on BBTN they're doing a "report card" on MLB, doing the first place teams in each division EXCEPT when it come time for the Marlins they do the report ON THE METS. Literally not a word on the Fish, just how the Mets shouldn't have lost and should be doing better. :banghead

Krukie's all upset with the Mets bonehead plays.

But really I've gotten to the point where I can only laugh and look at the standings. :brigginbounce

It pains just about everyone at ESPN seeing us on top and when there is something they don't like they either don't talk about it or try to discredit it.

It's good to be a Marlins fan.

Nope, I agree with you. Even if he only went 5 IP, he only gave up 3 runs, vs the team that always gave him the most trouble. Another inning or two would be nice, but it's not like this was that start in Houston vs Oswalt where Ricky picked up a win after giving up 6 runs. All things considered, Ricky did well, earned his W.

Ricky didn't pitch well...he gave up 11 base runners in only 5 inn. The Mets were 0-7 with RISP in the first 5 inn, and only one of those were a K. You can argue yeah, he got out of jams...but if he was pitching well, he wouldn't have had a RISP every inn sans one.

But how about the bullpen...4 inn of no base runners. Last 15 Mets were retired in order.

Hanley's last two defensive plays were a thing of beauty. He seriously making tremendous strides fielding.
