June 26, 200817 yr Uggla goes to arbitration this winter. if he isn't signed before. See its even worse than I thought. Get your fill of Danny's HR's this year, because he's gone over the Winter break.
June 26, 200817 yr No we have a future plan but its when the new stadium opens in 2011 Skipwoth C 1b Sanchez 2bUggla SS HANLEY 3b Domiguez LF whoever CF Maybin Rf Hermida Rotation Olsen Miller JJ Volstad Nolasco Bulpen Jeff Allison Mitre De la cruz Tankersley Lindstrom Kensing Pinto Anibal Bench Mcfearson Alfredo- HOPEFULLY Then fill 2 more spot with a catcher and fielder THATS OUR FUTURE AND THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT You are joking aren't you ? I am still not convinced that Ramirez is with this team past July 30th. He is a very attractive trade bait right now. He'll be even more attractive if the Braman lawsuit has legs in early July and derails the new stadium. Already one commisioner is threatening to backoff of his vote, and others may follow him. Remember the Ramierez contract isn't affecting the payroll this year, but kicks in next year. I think they move him. They are too used to the $ 20 million payrolls, and just don't care what the fans think, since there is not much of one in the 1st place. If they trade Hanely, wow, the crowds may be 5,000 instead of 6,000 per game. :whistle Uggla will be gone by July 30th next year, since his arbitration starts with 2010 I believe. They have no intentions on paying him $ 4 or 5 million a year so good-bye Danny nice to know ya. Skipworth is a 5 year projection, and if he is here by 2011, he has been rushed. I just don't see it, but you are welcome to be optimistic. My spirit has been broken these past 3 days. I hate losing 5 of 6 games to the Rays. That is just awful. 1. I will bet you anything...Hanley Ramirez will be a Marlin past July 30th...ANYTHING! 2. I agree with you on Uggla...and I don't think (with the sh*t payroll Beinfest has) that Uggla should be a top priority. He's not going to get any better. Uggla's value is at its highest now. 3. We have a decent farm system. (the Rays have just had so many #1 picks, that they have the best one in baseball, that's all...and it's finally beginning to show).
June 26, 200817 yr Yeah...and it only took the Rays a good 10 years. Btw...how is Beinfest not looking so smart? 22 million dollar payroll, we're almost half-way through the season, and the team is still over .500. Instead of blaming Beinfest...blame the CHEAP OWNER, Jeffrey Loria...if you actually want to blame someone. But the present Rays ownership has only been around 3, possibly 4 years. Before that it was worse than Loria for an owner. As for Loria, watchout, if you say anything about him, the teams attack dogs, will be out and sicked on you.

I tell it like it is. I'm not about to blame Beinfest for what he's doing...b/c fact is, he might not be the BEST GM, but he's an above average GM. He knows what he's doing. It's unfortunate he has to deal with this salary.

I don't believe Loria is willing to let his payroll go up 50% if Hanley is kept. Because right now Hanley will constitute 50% if he stays, it will be 35-40% if Uggla stays, but that won't happen....never in your life.

I'm willing to make it a guarantee. ...and as I've said for a couple months now...Uggla will leave. And with the resources Beinfest has, it is for the best. He should trade Uggla if this team falls out of contention, for a pitcher...and let Chris Coghlan take over, at 2B. ...but Hanley will stay.

It's unfortunate he has to deal with this salary. He's done some good deals, but he's also pulled some boners too. I'd say he's done a decent job. There's a reason he's never been the MLB Executive of the Year. They know he does a decent job on trades, but stinky job on drafts.
June 26, 200817 yr . ...but Hanley will stay. I just want to know why you feel this way. I am not arguing, just asking. I gave you my logic why he will be gone, you tell me why he stays ? Don't tell me its because he brings fans to the park :whistle .

There's a reason he's never been the MLB Executive of the Year. They know he does a decent job on trades, but stinky job on drafts. Yeah, we haven't done GREAT in drafts. However, Beinfest is very good with trades. He, usually, robs teams, a good % of the time, or comes out even. But really...you know what's pathetic? The Rays have the 2nd lowest payroll in the league ($41 million). The Marlins have the lowest payroll. ...and yet, while you don't see much difference in that, the Rays payroll is still 19 million more than the Marlins' current payroll. Beinfest can only do so much...

Don't tell me its because he brings fans to the park :whistle . No...it's b/c they already gave him a 6 year contract (which lets face it...was pretty cheap for Hanley). Loria has to pay someone. The payroll can't be under 20 mill on a consistent basis. If Loria does that, he'll be out of MLB. Again, you can agree to disagree. We'll see who's right in July. It's been cool talkin' to 'ya. :thumbup I gotta go.
June 26, 200817 yr Beinfest is very good with trades. He, usually, robs teams, a good % of the time, or comes out even. Other than the Cubs, who has he robbed?

I say Loria can and will try to keep his payroll at near or just above minimum, because there is ZERO incentive to do anything else. MLB can't tell him what to spend, he can and will just thumb his nose that them. He is the owner, and 100% can do what he pleases. He is a cheap b-tard and will always be a cheap b-tard ! Samson, on the other hand, is just a 'tard ! :whistle
June 26, 200817 yr Beinfest is very good with trades. He, usually, robs teams, a good % of the time, or comes out even. Other than the Cubs, who has he robbed? Well so far it looks like we did get the best of Detroit, but all those pieces have yet to blossom. If Willis can turn it around, they will have gotten the best of us in this one. Miller might be good, but do you ever see him winning 22 games in a season ?
June 26, 200817 yr This team has not yet the pitching depth to compete. Hopefully some of the guys drafted start to mature, and the guys that we have now in the majors mature. The Marlins flat out need to play better baseball if they want to compete, because help is NOT on the way (this year).

Trade Uggla for a pitcher?.We already have good upcoming starters in the minors and others returning from injuries.Uggla should be kept and maybe trade Coughlan for a pitcher and/or hitter.A for A or A for B B.

It looks like DTrain may be done but whta the future holds for Cabrera is a bit of a question mark as well. Did he top out at age 23? I guess we'll find out in the next few yesrs. I'm not a fan of giving $150 million to a guy with conditioning problems and that's what the Tigers did.

June 26, 200817 yr Yes, I think the front office was looking to the future with this year's team. I don't think they could HONESTLY tell you that the expected this team to be in competition for the division at this point in the season. They probably figured they would have a season where they could give the younger guys a season to develop with low expectations.
June 27, 200817 yr i think Hendrickson most likely go to bullpen if donot show he can be starter after allstar game when other pitcher get off DL if donot do good in bullpen i see him sent packing unless marlins plan not to win game
June 27, 200817 yr i think all plan on hold untill all detail for new home are final if we donot get final support we will see us been saler not buyer before deadline it all on ballpark deal
June 27, 200817 yr Beinfest is very good with trades. He, usually, robs teams, a good % of the time, or comes out even. Other than the Cubs, who has he robbed? Are the Cubs trade invalid all of the sudden? And...he's gotten the good end of some other trades. As much as Kevin Gregg gets bashed, getting Gregg for Resop ended up being a very good trade. Paul Lo Duca (who's on the decline) for Gabby Hernandez (one of our better pitching prospects) is looking nice for us. I still like the Owens/Lindstrom trade for what it's worth, and I predict the Mets will regret that trade one day. Again, he's made some mistakes (Derrek Lee, and you can make a case on the Brad Penny trade, as well), but...for the most part, Beinfest is good when it comes to trading players.
June 27, 200817 yr Who do we replace him with? Thank god, the people on this board are not running the organization. When JJ is off the DL... Is Volstad off the DL yet? Yea throw JJ in there, guys hasnt pitcher a year + Im pulling for JJ but there is no doubt that guy gets ROCKED his first couple of starts.. Not to mention its hard to pitch a good game when your team doesnt hit a LICK! Rabelo got blamed when the team didn't hit. It's Mark's turn this time.

Not to mention its hard to pitch a good game when your team doesnt hit a LICK! So it is the offense's fault that Hendrickson is not pitching well....? 5 walks (1 of them IBB), an ERA near 6, over 90 pitches in 5th inning...yeah the offense caused that... Hey, a double after that 5th walk Its not the complete fault of the offense of course.. But you can walk 20 hitters all that matters is the score... Yeah, which is now 5 - 0 and would have been 7 or 8 - 0 without Cody... He didn't even finish the 5th today, his ERA is now 5.93...I'd rather watch a rehabbing JJ pitch in this guy's rotation slot... I rest my case Do you even realize how rediculous that sounds?
