Are the Cubs trade invalid all of the sudden? And...he's gotten the good end of some other trades. As much as Kevin Gregg gets bashed, getting Gregg for Resop ended up being a very good trade. Paul Lo Duca (who's on the decline) for Gabby Hernandez (one of our better pitching prospects) is looking nice for us. I still like the Owens/Lindstrom trade for what it's worth, and I predict the Mets will regret that trade one day. Again, he's made some mistakes (Derrek Lee, and you can make a case on the Brad Penny trade, as well), but...for the most part, Beinfest is good when it comes to trading players. I disagree on the DLee thought. He never did do all that well with the bat here. And it is so easy to forget that we had the option at that time to sign Castillo and Lowell long term or figure a way to keep Lee. I think everyone knew DLee's offensive numbers would explode in the Friendly Confines. And ya gotta remember who we got to replace his bat in the line up. What happened after that season is irrelevant. But Mikey had a bad season and everyone started bashing him. DLee had the offensive season most knew he would have at Wrigley so the tantrum throwers were hot. From the comfort of their recliners, of course. Brad Penny is about the only trade that I truely disliked. But ya also got to remember that the tantrum throwers were so hot on a young pitcher coming back from TJ surgery. A youngster with a bad attitude that already knew more than all his coaches and catchers combined. A .500 pitcher that was more concerned about watching the radar gun than he was in learning how to become the pitcher that he had the potential to be. Remember that pitcher that was told to clean out his locker with a week left in the season?

Are you kidding on Hernandez? The guy has an ERA over 6 in AAA. I was never a Lo Duca fan but to say we robbed the Mets on that one is ridiculous. On the Owens and Lindstrom trade, for all their potentioal they haven't done much. If in the future they do, then you can say we robbed the Mets. But as of right now, you can't say we robbed them with one guy injured and the other demoted to the minors. If you go through all of our trades under Beinfest and you look at the objectively you would see that we've being robbed in as many of them as we've robbed the other GM.

I'm not about to blame Beinfest for what he's doing...b/c fact is, he might not be the BEST GM, but he's an above average GM. He knows what he's doing. It's unfortunate he has to deal with this salary. He's done some good deals, but he's also pulled some boners too. I'd say he's done a decent job. There's a reason he's never been the MLB Executive of the Year. They know he does a decent job on trades, but stinky job on drafts. Really? Since 2002 when Admin came on board we have drafted in the 1st round, Jeremy, Allison (bust so far), Tank, Volstad, Sinkbeil, Dominguez, and Skippy. Dosen't look all that bad to me. Wanna go a little deeper into the drafts to see what he brought in? Just to brush on it a bit...JJ (4th rd), Coghlan (comp), Andino (2nd), Carroll (10th), Kensing (2nd), Olsen (6th), Tucker (comp). Once again it dosen't look all that bad. Or Rule 5? De Aza and Uggla. A predominately negative attitude coupled with a tantrum because of a losing streak would tend to make someone exagerate the bad and completely ignore the good.

Cody made a fine catch. But looking at it this way means nothing. Guys are on the ML roster because they can make good plays. If everyone sat on their gloves and watched the games all pitchers on every team would have ERAs in double digits. Your comment makes no sense. Plain and simple. Late in responding? I don't see how that affects the opinion. Other than I refuse to let emotions over ride logic. In other words, I won't throw a tantrum just because a game, or series, didn't go my way.

I'm online early because I get up early (no alarm clock, just an early riser) and it's about the only time I have a chance to be here. It also allows me to be a bit more objective and let the emotions settle down from a dismal play, game, or series. But it sounds like we are in the same boat. I won't fire myself either. And I only wish I could find the time to pick up another hobby such as golf.

And then there's Mitre. :brigginbounce On TV Beinfest said JJ could start in the SD series (early July) and that Anibal was three weeks behind JJ. I think he said Mitre was 5 weeks away or 5 weeks behind JJ or something like that.

Hendrickson_is a loser I never praised the guy...I did say he was doing a good job at the time, but that was about it. I can't say I'm very mad at him b/c I expected him to fail from Day 1. The fact he gave us a flukish April is something we should be thankful for.

Bob, no problem, but I hope you noticed I said "going into September" which would give Johnson 8-10 starts and Sanchez 6-8, Mitre possibly three or four before that. For their *them, as* returning starting pitchers, I view July and August as "their" spring training.

How do I know that they are average, you ask? League average OPS in June: .722 Marlins average OPS in June: .717 We have been hitting average.
