July 25, 200817 yr Dramatic game Cubs got a little lucky with the wind taking their homeruns out of the park
July 25, 200817 yr Author Damn...you know, if our bullpen keeps shutting teams down in this second half, I might start agreeing with GoFish in saying our bullpen is our strong suit...what a turnaround. Of course, there is still only a small sample to say they've had a turnaround, but it's an impressive small sample. Nice start by JJ, again. Nice bullpen. Nice Hermida, nice Cantu, and nice Uggla (for hustling from 1st to home...wish his bat would start up). And nice Gregg, for not giving me a heart attack. A one two three against the middle of heart of the line up...if it wasn't for Hermes Homie, I'd give him the PotG, just for not sending me to the hospital. I said our SP was our strong suit in the second half but you might as well add the Bullpen I wonder which "idiot" is going to respond 1st.
July 25, 200817 yr Not the most dramatic of wins, but I will take it! w00t! Tell that to my stomach. It was tingling the entire bottom of the 9th inning. A 1-run comeback win, on the road, against the best home team in the NL. Dramatic, imo. same here I missed the first 4 innings. Who does a day game on a Friday!? well i'm on summer vacation and am speding time with my family this week. day game no problem lol. but it was a tense game but we came out in the end

I went to work out at around 1:30 knowing the game was around 2. I got done with my work out early and came back to see Hanley hit a long fly ball to right field that was caught in the ivy.
July 25, 200817 yr Man, how about the quality of Hermida's home runs? He doesn't hit that many, but when he does, he just crushes the ball. And A+ on the clutch factor.

I'll agree with THAT when Olsen and Nolasco start pitching games like they did earlier in the year and when Sanchez gets back and hopefully pitches well. Nolasco Johnson Olsen Sanchez Volstad I like that rotation...I like it a lot.

Real classy. That said, the bullpen has been the strongest part so far. After that, there hasn't been much good. Starting wise, JJ has been the only guy who can go more than 5 innings without giving up 500 runs. Two bad starts in a row from both Noly and Oly, one of the luckiest starts ever from Vandy, an OK start from Volstad, and today's OK start from JJ, and the only quality start in 8 days was JJ vs the Phillies. That's not solid. The bats have been terrible to say the least. God forbid a man gets on base and we bring him in.

EDIT: (Like I really take your words of "real classy" as an insult. I mean this is coming from Rab. :lol)

There is no class in calling someone an idiot before they even respond. That said, this is the truth. Nothing but the pen has been good.
July 25, 200817 yr We need fishdynasty to start tomorrows game thread as well. Already did it. I am glad to say I have the highest game thread win %.
July 25, 200817 yr The hitting hasn't performed as it did in the 1st half (I predicted Uggla would struggle...however, it's been far more than Uggla, unfortunately). The SP has been...meh. 2 quality starts in 8 games. For some reason, there's a lovefest, but they still haven't gotten it done. At least there isn't an automatic loss every 5th day, with Hendrickson in the bullpen. And still...facing some tough teams, we are 4-4 (.500) since the break. We have to pick it up, though.
July 26, 200817 yr Phillies losing 6-0. Lidge just gave up a grand slam to brian McCann. hopefully he starts falling apart after this game.
July 26, 200817 yr Phillies losing 6-0. Lidge just gave up a grand slam to brian McCann. hopefully he starts falling apart after this game. Please keep all talk of other teams in the MLB forum.

Im just saying he made one comment about the phillies-braves game, which directly affects the Marlins. Who cares if its not in the MLB forum?

July 26, 200817 yr Phillies losing 6-0. Lidge just gave up a grand slam to brian McCann. hopefully he starts falling apart after this game. That would be awesome, though I am a little more concerned about the mets than the phillies.
July 26, 200817 yr Not the most dramatic of wins, but I will take it! w00t! 9th inning homers aren't dramatic? not unless it's a home game. :thumbup I fail to see the difference if it's only being watched on TV no matter where it is played.
July 26, 200817 yr Dramatic game Cubs got a little lucky with the wind taking their homeruns out of the park I don't call that lucky. They know their ball park and took advantage of it. Wind blowing out, you hit the ball high and deep and it has a great chance of being a souvenier. They were able to do that and we weren't. Poor plate disipline by our guys does not equal luck by their guys.
