marlins2219
You guys think Lee Gardner will be a Marlin next year? I really think he should be one especially having that 1.90 ERA season in 2007. Bullpen for 09: CL: Lindstrom Nelson Gardner Rhodes Kensing Waechter Tankersely Owens sick bullpen
BosnianBaller_
i hope he is. but i wouldn't go with 8 guys in the bullpen. i don't think rhodes will be back so pinto would take his spot and i hope kensing doesn't make the major league roster which would leave lindstrom, nelson, pinto, lee, weachter, owens, and tankersley in the bullpen. marlins2219
gardner did really good in 07 and if nelson & owens do a good job then we have plenty of backups incase lindstrom struggles
dim
The most important thing for me is to limit the amount of appearances for Pinto, they killed his arm. It annoyed the hell out of me that in the Sun Sentinal they listed Pinto before Gregg as a reason the marlins aren't in the playoffs. I know he had a bad August, but other than that he was great, and his mistakes were more due to Fredi overworking him, they also mentioned how the majority of people say that Fredi did not do a good job managing this year
canada-marlin24
before pinto was being forced to pitch every damn game he was great. hope to see gardner and owens back and the team would be idiodic to not bring arthur rhodes back. he was amazing. salmonsteelhead
gardner did really good in 07 and if nelson & owens do a good job then we have plenty of backups incase lindstrom struggles We have mentioned Henry Owens in the bullpen for most of last year, the beginning of this year and now for next year. Owens has pitched at total of 23 innings in just under 2 years, with 19 hits, 10 BB and 16 strikes and has been on the disabled list for that entire time. I would think Owens has a heck of lot to prove to even be considered for the bull pen. Owens had rotator cuff surgery last August and has yet to re-appear. I suggest we leave him out any bullpen discussion until he proves he can even throw again. With his awkward arm slot he uses keeping healthy will be a real problem for him. Fish4Life
Gardner is an arm, nothing special... You forgot pinto on the list above, and whos so sure Rohdes is coming back? Hes thinking of retirment

I hope your wrong Rhodes is still an extremely effective pitcher . Rhoades and Pinto have different roles , Pinto is a 8th inning guy , Rhodes a lefty specialist. If my memory is correct Pinto's number were better against right hand batters than left hand batters or it was until he couldnt get anyone out. Nny
Lee Gardner will be making the minimum next year There is no reason not to give him a chance to win a spot in spring training.

MrMarlinPride
Yea lets try Grady again especially since hes signing for the Minimum, he was pretty effective before he was injured

Bullpen for 09: CL: Lindstrom Nelson Gardner Rhodes Kensing Waechter Tankersely Owens sick bullpen looks good but i have doubts with Owens, Rhodes might not be back next season and we might not resign Kensing or Dw and maybe even Joe No but hopefully we do. Also we need Gardy, Tank and DW to go back to form so our pen can be at its best I still think we need to acuirre a GOOD veteran arm to lead the bullpen. You'd of thought Henry Owens had Tommy John surgery with all the time he has missed. I second the motion of keeping Owens out of bullpen discussions until I see him in spring training (not doing light tossing or light baseball activities), but actually really throwing the ball!
