March 20, 200917 yr I think Gaby or whoever plays first will hit at or near Jacobs BA this year but will NOT produce as much HRs RBIs or HITs (But strikeouts too) I predict our backup catcher hits near Jacob's BA. Gaby, on the other hand, will hit with a higher BA and a much higher OBP with lower but respectable SLG numbers.
March 20, 200917 yr I think Gaby or whoever plays first will hit at or near Jacobs BA this year but will NOT produce as much HRs RBIs or HITs (But strikeouts too) You are aware that Jacobs couldn't even produce an .OBP of .300, right? :lol And that he was BY FAR THE WORST DEFENSIVE 1B IN BASEBALL. That will never be missed...on any team.
March 20, 200917 yr I think Gaby or whoever plays first will hit at or near Jacobs BA this year but will NOT produce as much HRs RBIs or HITs (But strikeouts too) I'm gonna post this again here, mods can delete my first iteration of the post in this thread... re: Gaby>Jacobs Pending that fielding thing Nny brought up... Gaby would only have to OPS between .675 and 700 with AVERAGE defense at 1B to be more valuable than Jacobs was... do you know how absurd that is... Rabb said it best, it's 100% addition by subtraction at this point. And... just for lulz... I really do think that Gaby will have more Hits than Jake... not that it ultimately matters...
March 20, 200917 yr Author Berkman 108 Youkilis 108 M Bradley 112 Ma Holiday 104 Jacobs 119.................these "league leaders" had just around the same amount of SO as Jake
March 20, 200917 yr Seriously, Jacobs was SOOOOOO bad. He was terrible offensively and horrible defensively.
March 20, 200917 yr Berkman 108 Youkilis 108 M Bradley 112 Ma Holiday 104 Jacobs 119.................these "league leaders" had just around the same amount of SO as Jake And your point is?
March 20, 200917 yr I'm not even going to bother arguing with someone who uses spring training numbers.

March 20, 200917 yr Author Ryan Howard had 19 errors Prince Fielder had 17 Jake had 11 Not the WORST :glare
March 20, 200917 yr Ryan Howard had 19 errors Prince Fielder had 17 :glare Because when I think of Howard and Fielder, I think of gold gloves.
March 20, 200917 yr Also, in the cases of Youkilis and Berkman (the 1B on your Ks list)... Defensively at 1B Berkman +18 Youkilis +6 JACOBS -27
March 20, 200917 yr Ryan Howard had 19 errors Prince Fielder had 17 :glare Because when I think of Howard and Fielder, I think of gold gloves. And errors are the best way to judge a player, defensively, as well. :cool
March 20, 200917 yr Ryan Howard +1 Prince Fielder -12 Seriously... is there any way you're not seeing that Jake was probably the worst 1B in baseball last year???
March 20, 200917 yr Defense Ryan Howard: 7 runs Prince Fielder: -11 runs Mike Jacobs: -22 runs Wins Above Replacement Player Howard: 4.5 Fielder: 3.1 ... Jacobs: -0.8 (Yes, negative WARP. That means we would have been better off with a guy like Dan Johnson at 1B last year)
March 20, 200917 yr I think Gaby or whoever plays first will hit at or near Jacobs BA this year but will NOT produce as much HRs RBIs or HITs (But strikeouts too) Um, don't hits determine BA? If he hits at Jacobs BA, then how can he NOT produce as much.....HITs? [unless he walks more and has less PA, which makes him superior anyway (other things being equal); or, if he gets less PA, which isn't his fault.] Oh, and Gaby won't hit as many HR as Jacobs? Thanks a lot, captain ob[li]vious.

If I really wanted to insult, I would either be much more subtle or much nastier. Just kidding around. Sorry if you got upset.
March 20, 200917 yr I'm gonna miss Mike Jacobs like I miss the 2007 rotation of Wes Obermueller, Ross Wolf, Chris Seddon, Daniel Barone and Byung-Hyun Kim
