I think the Marlins have the 2nd best 1-2-3 rotation

Featured Replies

1. Yankees: CC Sabathia, Chien Ming Wang, AJ Burnett

2. Marlins: Ricky Nolasco, Josh Johnson, Chris Volstad

3. Angels: Joe Saunders, Jered Weaver, Dustin Moseley

4. BoSox: Josh Beckett, Jon Lester, Daisuke Matsuzaka

5. D-Backs: Dan Haren, Doug Davis, Jon Garland

6. Devil Rays: James Shields Scott Kazmir, Matt Garza

7. Mariners: Felix Hernandez, Erik Bedard, Carlos Silva

8. Giants: Tim Lincecum, Randy Johnson, Matt Cain

The way AJ Burnett has pitched recently, I think their 1-2-3 is absolutely dominant. I know Wang has been struggling but he'll come around. I think we're better than the Angels just b/c I feel Volstad has more upside than Moseley. My 5/6/7 list are almost interchangeable and I think the Giants are 8th, although I don't feel Randy Johnson is a #2 calliber pitcher anymore.

Erm, the Yankees are looking anything like #1 at the moment, Wang is horrendous.

If we're talking present day, then we're arguably #1.

On potential though, Boston probably has the best 3 with Beckett, Lester and Dice-K although you can also argue they're too inconsistent to be #1.

WTF the Cubs arent even in your top 8??? Zambrano-Dempster-Harden is without a doubt in the top 5, possibly top 3.

My top 5 coming into the season would be:

Boston - Beckett, Lester, Dice-K

NYY - Sabathia, Burnett, Wang

Cubs - Zambrano, Dempster, Harden

Arizona - Webb, Haren, Garland

LAA - Lackey, Santana, Saunders

Before the season I would say our top 3 are roughly 8-10th but with the potential to be top 3/5

Even talking about a "top three", when Sanchez looks just as good as any of them so far, is blasphemy. And I am hoping to think in "fives" after Miller pitches on Thursday. At some point this season, it is going to click for Miller and he's going to be simply great.

Naw we got the best rotation because ours will most likely stay healthy all year. Its just the effectiveness of our 4 a And 5 starters that will determine how far we can go this year. Along with Boni and the defense at least being middle of the pack.

I don't know everyone's injury history on every team, but do you not recall Anibal's arm surgery, JJ's arm surgery, Nolasco's injuries, and that Volstad has never pitched more than 175 innings?

I mean, I obviously hope you are right, but that is in no way a reasonable criterion.

I think this is the closest so far.

6. Devil Rays: James Shields Scott Kazmir, Matt Garza

I think you need to bump them up.

With the list above, #6 is just about where the Rays trio should be slotted. They do deserve to be ahead of some of the #1-5 teams on the original poster's list, though.

Counting the minors Volstad has pitched 570 innings. You throw just as hard in the minors as majors

1. Yankees: CC Sabathia, Chien Ming Wang, AJ Burnett

3. Angels: Joe Saunders, Jered Weaver, Dustin Moseley

5. D-Backs: Dan Haren, Doug Davis, Jon Garland

7. Mariners: Felix Hernandez, Erik Bedard, Carlos Silva

Epic Fail on all that are bolded.

Poor Brandon Webb. lol. He can't even crack the top 4. 15 DL is no excuse.

Yeah the Cubs completely slipped my mind. I would definitely include them in the top 5.

My list includes current pitchers, not pitchers on the DL. Maybe I should have made that more clear in my thread.

if you're doing it on current pitchers you should also be doing it on their current stats. Wang should be no where near the top 3 starters for the yankees. putting him there because he'll "come around" should also mean you should put Webb because he'll also "come around"

Um, he has never thrown more than 175 innings IN A SEASON. Keep your snide comments to yourself, especially when they are preceded by crap.

Come on Erick, even you must realise that this was a terrible choice of words in the wake of last weeks tragedy with Nick Adenhart.

Ok...

Brandon Webb didn't disappear...

1. The Rays rotation is extremely underrated.

2. Without Webb, the D-Backs aren't number four.

3. The Yankees also don't belong anywhere close to the top spot until they start showing some consistency.

My top three would be (in random order): Red Sox, Marlins, Rays, with the Cubs maybe sneaking in there if Harden shows that he can go five games without getting injured.

Why do the Yanks get crap for the bad start of their guys but the Red Sox are fine even though Dice-K has had two pathetic starts? (12.79, 3.000 WHIP?!)

Wow. So the Yankees don't belong b/c they haven't had consistency, yet the Red Sox do?

Why are we basing this on this year, anyways? We have a large sample to go off of, yet we're basing this on 2 starts?

Surprisingly, Wang has been much worse, and C.C. also looked terrible in his first start.
