Scott Olsen

does anyone else feel bad for this guy. he was one of my fave marlins when he played for us but now he's stuck in washington. the last two outing he had were good but the nats keep losing games for him. last season the marlins bullpen kept blowing it for him and now for the two games against us and the mets he loses because he plays for the nats. if i were the cardinals i'd trade for him because dave duncan can do miracles for pitchers and olsen had a good 06. although we could really use him as our 5th starter with miller failing at his so called "potential". maybe taylor will impress everyone.

He actually looks like he is maturing. Dude had some crazy moments on the mound and was mentally fragile. The Nats defense is somehow worse than the Marlins defense and even with them screwing up in the field for him he found out ways of getting out of jams. I don't feel bad for him though.

So far this year, the Marlins and Mets have the same amount of errors. Both are 8 errors behind the Nationals.

I wanted to keep him, I knew we couldn't depend on miller. Plus you know he'd be fighting the bull pen right now for sucking.

i wanted to keep him too. i doubted that miller could be counted on. and now that miller sucks and maybin strikes out 3 times a night the cabrera deal is looking real bad.

There's still Dallas Trahern to bust, yet.

IMO the Cabrera deal is one of the greatest deals we have ever done. Regardless of the stadium being built or not, Cabs would NOT have been a Marlin for much longer. We would not have been able to afford a long term deal for him and Hanley, and IMO I'd rather have Hanley. so we pretty much gave the tigers a player that was going to leave us anyways for 5 players that had (and still have) a lot of upside. Miller is bad right now. but notice the key word is RIGHT NOW. he will be good. IMO he should be in the minors all this year and then start next season, but I dont run the Marlins so my opinion is worthless... Maybin still has a lot to go before we proclaim him a bust. we saw him explode last september and this year he hasnt done much.. we still have to wait and see which one is the "real" Maybin. It's wayyy to early to tell if Miller and Maybin are worthless.

calling it "one of the greatest deals" we ever have done is certainly pollyanna-ish to say the least. Yes, we weren't keeping him, but so far none of the players we have gotten back have broken through. If we had done a deal with the Angels, maybe Nick Adenhart is still alive.

Scotty wanted to leave because he did not like the lack of attendance. He prefers to "huge" crowds in DC, like all those people disguised as seats that we saw on a nice weekend when we were playing there. All I can say is "enjoy it Scotty" you got what you wished for.

but thats still the point. we got control of 2 possibly great players for atleast 5 years for a player that was going to leave us in one year. Maybin and Miller have yet to reach their ceiling. how many months of MLB time does Maybin have? 2? he still has a ways to go.

another ex-marlin has gone to the nats. although i can't wait to make kensing ERA raise as he has been my most hated marlin while he played for us.

Olsen got his first win today, going 5.2 with 1 ER, 6H, 6K, 2BB against the Phillies. The run came off a Victorino homer.

Not a great outing, but good and good enough.

Yeah I miss having Scotty Olsen here in Teal I think we gave up way to much for the garbage we got back from the Natinals! I mean Bonifraudio for Olsen and Hammer? WOW our front office really doesn't know how to make trades.

Look at some past trades now I just pointed out the terrible Bonifraudio for Hammer & Olsen trade being horrid! But how about Derek Lee for Hee Sop Choi!

Or how about the worst trade in team history!!! We sent a future HOF in "Miguel Cabrera", and someone who we all love down here even with his struggles the last couple of years I feel a lot of love for "Dontrelle Willis" for "Cameron Maybin" (About to be demoted because he sucks!) "Mike Rebelo" (Was so bad he was sent down last year, and once Baker took over he was never spoken about again!) "Andrew Miller" (Just a waste of a pitcher! Has never pitched good in the majors.) "Burke Badenhop" (Has looked half way decent in a couple of games this year but he's very shaky) and the other guys don't matter, and are not even on the team anymore.

Now with Anibal Sanchez hurt, and Miller who stinks Olsen would be nice to have back...

you just started following this team this season huh? if there is one thing about this front office is they KNOW how to trade. NOONE IS PERFECT.

Another thing about you saying Maybin and Miller suck. Maybin is what 22? Miller is what 22? WTF do you want? Not everyone is Miguel Cabrera or Hanley who in there 1st year in the bigs are all stars.

Since opening day 1993 I was at the game with my dad, and saw the great Charlie Hough pitch against the Dodgers, and win.

We have been fan since, and over the years Ive been a season ticket holder 6 times, and I go to a good 30-40 games a year even went to 25 games in 1998, and 1999 when the team was just terrible.

Are you just a Marlins fan or a BASEBALL fan? Did you not know that we became the laughin stock of baseball in detroit when that trade went down? Did you know hear what was being said on their sports radio? That we got raped in the deal because the Tigers had all but given up on Maybin, and Miller.

If they were such highly thought off prospects by the Tigers they wouldn't have traded both of them I mean the Yanks bulked at sending their top 2 prospects to us for Miggy! Now why would I say these guys who are only 22 stink? Because they have NEVER been any good! Look at their numbers in their short major league career, and look at their minor league numbers, and they have not earned their spot in the majors.

We are just stuck with them because our incompitent front office thought they were good, and pulled the trigger on what will go down as the worst trade since Babe Ruth got traded to the Yanks from the Red Sox for cash.

We gave up a future hall of famer for a bunch of career minor leaguers! That's both sad, and pathetic, and who ever thinks over wise does not know baseball.

A team that won two WS in their first eleven years with the lowest payroll is the laughing stock of baseball? Really? To back that up you have the opinoins of two radio talk-show hosts from Detroit?

Maybin and Miller put up very impressive numbers in their minor league system, so I don't get what you're saying about them not performing in the minors. And with Maybin only having a total of 49 MLB at-bats, and Miller only having 13 career starts with them, it's hard to say that the Tigers "gave up" on them. Both of them have great potential, and will develop into solid (if not better) MLB players. Not every player is an all-star as a rookie, as you seem to expect from them.

I also find it very hypocritical of you to say that a player who is going to be just 24 in a few weeks is already a bust, yet you have pronounced a 26 year old to be a future HOF'er.

What's pathetic is that you seem to think that you're smarter than the FO, and that every time we trade an all-star away, it's a terrible trade. Anyone that calls a 22 and a 23-year-old busts, simply does not know baseball.

Do you even watch baseball?

1) Our "incompitent front office" is extremely heralded and constantly gets great word in the media for being able to find good young players.

2) No, we weren't the laughing stock of baseball after this trade. Once again, rather heralded for taking their entire minor league system.

3) Players aren't busts at 22 years old.

4) This isn't even the worst trade in our history, much less baseball history.
