Called the Walk off by Hermida in the top of the ninth inning. Glad he didn't dissapoint.

Thanks for that, the Marlins fans appreciate this!

I predict Volstad will pitch a no-hitter tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Pujols is 0-16? He crushed one off Johnson to the deepest part of the park for an out? Is he ever due . Volstad look out youre very unlucky so far this year

A Homerun Hitter vs a pitcher who has given up 12 Homeruns this season does not look so good. Hopefully he's smart and hits his spors especially with the curves.

I'm going to dial in early in anticipation!!

If he does and he very well couldcould; tell me this. Am I going to be rich?

We will have to wait and see If tomorrow's prediction is right. Like I said, stay tuned.

That makes two of us.

Just to show I'm not a "hater," I'm going to vote for Emilio Bonifacio.

Hermida hits the HR, but Emilio got the first 3 RBI's of the ballgame. He also wasn't the one looking foolish defensively, tonight. I'm not sure if that ball was catchable, but I'm sure Hermida didn't have to look as bad as he did, in doing so.

So before BroncoBob and the Bonifacio optimists come in here...I'm gladly willing to say I thought he was the player of the game tonight. I'm also willing to admit I still think he's caca, and has no business starting in the big leagues, but hey...whatever.

Also...Josh Johnson deserves some love, here. He did not have his best stuff tonight, yet he gives another 7 inning/quality start performance. Signs of a true ace to give your team a chance to win, despite not having your best stuff (shouldn't say stuff...stuff was actually there, he just wasn't locating well the first couple of innings...settled down nicely, though).

Which leads me to Lindstrom...who, once again, wasn't too impressive, tonight. I'm just wondering if Fredi is going to let this guy blow some saves before taking him out of the role, or continue to let him do this. I'm not lying or hating...but fact is, our "closer" has allowed almost a walk per inning, over a hit per inning, (totaling to a WHIP near 2). The only thing about him being a "closer" right now is that the other team has a nice chance of getting "closer" in the game, once he comes in, with this crap. To his credit, I'd prefer to see him get hit, as opposed to walking people, which he actually didn't do tonight. Whatever. I still don't understand why you wouldn't use your best reliever in the 9th inning of a tied ballgame, but Lindstrom is "the closer."

Erick, you're acting as if Lindstrom had the worst outing of his career tonight. Big sh!t, he gave up two hits. He still got the job done.

No, I'm acting like the guy who'd like to see his team's best reliever in a tied game, in the 9th inning. And if anyone on here actually believes that's Matt Lindstrom...well, teehee.

I know he is not our best reliever. Maybe he shouldn't have pitched the 9th inning. But he got the job done, and that's all that matters.

Nice use of a heteronym. :thumbup

And, unfortunately true all too often. Since it's obvious that Fredi is going to "keep running him out there" (although on a shorter leash recently) hopefully he'll keep his cardiac corner antics to a minimum and whip his WHIP into something a reliever is willing to admit to.

It was about time we had another walk off victory. Feel deprived of them compared to the late inning expoits seen commonly by the Marlins in the past couple of years. I voted for the Bone-Dogg for Fish of the Game. Drove in 3/4 of our runs, including a 2 run double which got us right back into the game following the Cards taking a 3-0 lead. By winning a game in which Carpy started, it gives me confidence that we can also win the upcoming games against other top pitchers, Wainwight and Halladay.

If Hermida doesn't misplay that fly ball the bottom of the 9th probably never comes up.

Also, I thought you were in the "RBIs don't matter gang".

Lindstrom has a lot of room to grow. He does have to quit the walks, those will kill us.

As a member of this 'gang' (we got sweet jackets with bill James face airbrushed on with flames!), I'll go ahead and say you can have a good game because of RBI, but you can't be a good player because of RBI.

last night Santana gave up FOUR home runs in the game and still got the win?? Must be nice.

I didn't exactly call the homer, but I was flipping channels between the NBA Finals. And when Herms came up to bat in the 9th, I said jokingly. "It would suck if he hits a walk off home run while I'm flipped on the Magic game." Sure enough, I flip back to see him rounding third. I smacked myself for it.

They don't, really.

The reason why these RBI's are good is b/c he went 2-2 with .RISP, in doing so.

An RBI is a dependent statistic (unless if you're driving yourself in with a HR). It's not nearly as meaningful as some would make it out to be.

I have some insight for the fans on this blog. You will see more split-finger changeups and more fastballs (up, down, and in and out) from now on the rest of the year with Lindstrom. Just watch and observe to see if this is right. Oh, and he plans on never going 3-2 on a hitter again. He wants to eliminate walks. So, yes Erik he might give up a few hits, but I don't think you will see as many walks. Hopefully he can get the job done.

I know I'm new, but at what point am I allowed to get one of these jackets? Can mine say "OPS+" across the front, please?
