Posted June 10, 200915 yr Are the Marlins suited for the American league?, and what changes would we see if that ever happened
June 10, 200915 yr we will never be competitive. yankees, redsox will ensure we will never make the postseason.
June 10, 200915 yr I think last years team was better suited for the AL with jake being our dh. i agree. last season the team was jacking homeruns left and right but this season with guys like coghlan and bonifacio instead of jacobs and willingham the team is more suited for the NL.
June 10, 200915 yr I would probably not watch them anymore. I know that's kind of a strong statement since I'm otherwise a diehard Marlins fan but I'm a baseball fan above all and I just really hate the DH rule and what it does to the game.
June 10, 200915 yr Please god no. Unless the divisions were realigned so the Marlins weren't with the Yankees and Red Sox. And whats wrong with the DH? What's the use of having pitchers hit if they're just gonna make outs 90% of the time? I would love it if pitchers were as good at hitting as the position players. But apparently its not possible to to be good at hitting and pitching at the same time. I guess there's not enough time to practice both. But you'd think there would be a few with natural hitting ability that could be maintained with minimal practice that would make them a serious hitting threat.
June 10, 200915 yr Shudders at the thought of more games against the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, Rangers, Tigers, Rays, Twins and less games against the Padres, Pirates, Nationals and Diamondbacks
June 10, 200915 yr If the Marlins were in the AL, we wouldn't be criticizing Fredi for letting the pitcher hit and then taking them out the next inning.
June 10, 200915 yr move to AL=you can move hanley to his natural position, DH. Funny considering Hanley has improved a ton defensively. He is having a great year, defensively. It's ok, though. Shouldn't you be more concerned about the Metrosexuals dropping like flies to the DL?
June 10, 200915 yr move to AL=you can move hanley to his natural position, DH. Sigh, have u ever contributed a worthwhile post on this site?
June 10, 200915 yr move to AL=you can move hanley to his natural position, DH. I have a question. Do you honestley think Jose Reyes is good?
June 10, 200915 yr Hanley is the best offensive SS in baseball by far. i know you like the username starbrownies...but with qoutables like this captain obvious is much more suited

June 10, 200915 yr What's the use of having a DH if they're just gonna not play defense 100% of the time? Hmm Never thought of that. But if you have a 40 year old player that can still hit but moves too slow to play defense, the DH is perfect for them.
June 10, 200915 yr I actually don't understand why the NL lets the pitcher hit. It's the only league that does it. The pitcher doesn't hit in college...or in the minors. Heck, from what I remember when my brother played, pitchers didn't hit in high school, either.
June 11, 200915 yr Even with the DH rule we'd be bad with Bonifacio batting 1st and the way some of our pitchers are pitching. The AL is a more competitive league and we wouldn't be able to hang for 162 games with the lack of consistency on the team.
