7/4/09 Pirates @ Marlins 6:10PM

Boni was safe. Still say it was terrible decision, but he did get there.

He's so fast, there's not a vast amount of difference in him being on second and being on third, so why the heck he did it, I don't know. I just think he got cocky. He was in, but I agree, it was dumb of him to go in the first place.

For JRD: Have to wonder why on earth ESPN America would broadcast the Marlins v Pirates game tomorrow. Surely must be some other matchup of better teams at the same time?

They seem pretty good at spreading the games about the teams instead of it being all Yankees. Next week's Marlins v D'Backs game is on too.

The difference being that it was 1 out at the time. He's on 3rd, he scores on a fly ball, slow roller, chopper, pass ball, so on ad so forth, so there IS a reason for him to try and take 3rd. Maybe not the smartest decision, but with the way Hermida has played lately, I can at least understand it.

My thoughts exactly.

Good call. I got swayed by Rab's hate. Damn you, ump!

Unfortunately I will not be able to watch that as I will be bundled in a heap, most likely drunk either in a field or a tent at T in the Park lol

Stealing 3B in that situation isn't dumb, but trying to steal 3B with a left-handed hitter up is quite difficult. It's a clear path for the catcher, and even if Hermida does nothing, Bonifacio still would've been at 2B for Hanley (best hitter in the lineup...one of the best in the bigs...best in the NL with .RISP).

That's why it's considered dumb.

It's not like run expectancy is gargantuan between second and third either with two outs. .344 with a guy on second, .387 with a guy on third. Boni's speed and Hanley's bat easily make up for that .43.

D'oh, you youngsters. Actually, next week is my birthday weekend so I'll hopefully be drunk for most of it as well.

Fredi Gonzalez is an idiot.

For leaving in Miller to bat with them loaded I assume.

He'll look REALLY stupid if Miller doesn't finish this inning.

Stupid decision, regardless.

Looks even dumber now.
