Anyway I can't watch this any longer. I'm switching to the Dolphins. I'll be back come postgame.

and 1 more thing, is jorge cantu serious? how do you miss 4 games with a hurt neck and how do you hurt your neck so bad not even playing that you miss this long.

get his ass out of there. he deserves a trip to the minors for a couple starts.

Where were you his last start when he went 5 IP of 1 ER ball?

And LOL, I suppose we have so many GREAT options that we can just send down our 3rd starter. >_>

umm, he wasnt good his last start either. did you conveniently leave out the 4 bb's? and he has been walking to many people and giving up to many hits and hr's for our #3 hitter. we have guys like badenhop martinez hensley that could step in for a couple of starts or just find somebody off the waiver wire. we cant continue to have 2 starters not going into the 4th f***ing inning

I have seen the heavens! And they are telling me Badenhop/Martinez/Hensley are the saviors. LOL amazing post btw.

I do have to do agree with we need starters to go longer than 4 innings.

another great game where we are showing terrific patience. 18 f***ing pitches.

and 5 innings is a quality start because....?

jesus christ volstad. what the hell happened to last year and early this years volstad?

Fluke.

Actually, this year has been more of a fluke for Volstad.

once again, y do you feel the need to take people who i think can be replacements as people who i think can be saviors? nobody said they could be saviors, but they might be able to do the impossible- get out of the 4th inning.

Boo...it's preseason.

Tommy Hanson is one of the best young pitchers in baseball

That's why the four 1st inning runs is what will ruin us this game.

volstad the definition of fluke and i am talking about last season.

Pretty much. He's never given up this many homers at any level. Sophomore slump.

exactly, he acts as if 5 innings 1er is a terrific start. its ok, but not good especially if you are alking 4 people

when hes giving up this many hr's for the first time in his career it is a fluke. no if he is to do it for next year as well then we are not seeing a good trend.

He has a 1.36 WHIP this year, meaning his ERA is higher than it should be at 4.83 ERA. Most 1.3-1.4 WHIP guys don't have ERA's that high. His problem has been the HR's allowed. And he's never been a guy that allows so many HR's.

volstad is a joke.Cant hold runners, cant get ground outs wtf??

As much as I f***ing hate the HRs given up by Volstad this year, a lot of you people are so quick to just dismiss our young pitchers (West, Volstad) as either busts or flukes after a season. Seriously, I swear some of you guys are just new to baseball or only think that if you don't become the next Miguel Cabrera or Tim Lincecum and succeed at a young age, then you are automatically a bust.

Volstad is somewhere between what you see this year and last year. He was never projected to be anything more than a third starter by most people. I think when he gains some better command of his pitches, he'll be a solid third starter for many years.

The problem with our pitching staff is that its always in flux. We generally don't keep guys very long when they are entering their prime years and have established themselves. Thus, most of our pitching staff is usually made up of guys who are still learning at the big league level. They are developing. Hopefully we can keep Johnson and Nolasco for a few more years while guys like Volstad grow into better pitchers.

Yay! Pennington to Brown to End Zone.

Interesting graphic on SP's who've given up the most SB's. Except for Lincecum, everybody on that list was really tall IIRC (Chris Young, Jonathan Sanchez, Volstad, et. al)

LETS GO MARLINS!

hermida is 1 of the worst 2 strike hitters i have seen this season. Why let the pitcher get ahead of you when you cant make contact ???? jeez

The Marlins as a team are bad at holding runners. We don't exactly have great defensive catchers known for throwing people out either.
