So you put him in to a tie game.

Yeah, 2-1 games are generally considered "tie games." Do us a favor, try and figure out the basics, i.e. the scoring of the game, before opining on the more intricate parts of it. :thumbup

Will everyone shut up with fredi after every move he makes. Jesus youre starting to sound like met fans. Its ridiculous how over analyzed every little thing he does is. He has to find out what we have with hensley and he wanted to save meyer for a lefty later in the game.

Yeah let's save our best reliever for a spot that MAYBE will come up, rather than use him right now to keep your team in the game.

it will take us much longer to find our best relievers if we keep doing that. gotta give guys chances. meyer is better used later in the game i that case especially with nunez not available

Has to find out what we have with Hensley. So you put him in to a tie game. And yeah, it's better to save Meyer for a lefty later in the game when the most important spot in the game is right in front of your face and he's the best reliever we have. I don't give a sh*t what I'm starting to sound like. I'm sick of this crap bullpen management that's been going on for two years and I want it to stop.

Also, isn't it already blatantly obvious what we have in Hensley? He's a fifth starter/long reliever. Nothing more.

how do you know what you have in hensley? we have no set middle relivers and hes giving everyone chances to see if we can figure it out, while keeping meyer for a different situation in the game. I this board were managing the teams best bullpen options would be burned before the end of the 8th inning and then have the sh*t guys later in the 9th and beyond

How do you keep your best reliever on the bench in the most clutch situation in the game for a guy that hasn't been an effective MRP in his entire career? I don't know about you but I'm more interested in winning games rather than trying to gauge a 30-year-old pitcher.

No wai dude! The manager is stupid. He is purposely putting in the guys he knows are gonna give up runs. I mean, it's not like you should expect a major leaguer to ever step up or improve.

Man we just cannot get the ball out of the f***ing infield.....

because its the 7th inning and he could not possibly be saving our best reliever that is availble for tonights game rather than pitch him in th 7th when he could see if we could get some guys in our pen to step up?

I agree with giving guys chances, yes you do need them to prove themselves. However I'd like Meyer in that spot to try & get out of that jam. I'd feel better if Hensley came in with no one on.

It's pointless to save Meyer for the 9th if the game isn't still close by then.

and just for me, I rarely rip Freddi and am fine with him as our coach, bullpen decisions just frustrate me sometimes but that would probably be true with any coach.

IT WAS A TIE GAME! :banghead

I have no problem with trying to gauge guys in a game we're losing by five runs like we were on Opening Day BUT INSTEAD OF DOING THAT, THAT IS WHEN HE WENT TO MEYER!

How do you not see how moronic that is?

well he probably knows that nunez is not availble and that who would even be our best pitcher left to pitch in the game after that even if he does get out of that?

no it wasnt in a tie game. he wanted to save meyer for later in the game. you cant just throw all of your best options right away, as convenient as it would be right now. i would have liked to see meyer too but you can see why he would do that.

WHEN THE MOST CLUTCH SITUATION IN THE GAME IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!

And it was a one run game, whatever, same difference.

Dude, seriously, I promise you, being down 2-1 does not equal a tie game. This is the second time I am pointing it out. No matter how many times you say it was a tie game will not make it a tie game.

Beyond that, Hensley did not even do that bad. Yes, he walked Martin on a full count. That is bad.

He then allowed a sac bunt to Hiroki, got an out, that is not the end of the world.

The bases were then loaded to induce a force out at all the bases.

Hensley then induced a ground ball, which coulda, shoulda, woulda usually been a force out, but unlucky for him and the Marlins it was hit in just the perfect place to get a run in, and then H-Ram threw it into the outfield, which of course must be Fredi's and Hensley's fault somehow.

And then Hensley got out of the inning.

Seriously, drop it.

then thats your opinion. what have you ever managed other then hindsight?

IT'S NOT MANAGING, IT'S COMMON SENSE!

And if you're going to bring up the belief that losses matter less this early in the season, you're wrong. Every game counts towards the W/L record.

never said they didnt, but you would have literally no solid relievers after the inning meyer would work. why is it so ridiculous to expect a major league pitcher to come in and get out of an inning?

Wood was still available and he did fine the other night. Could mix & match Meyer/Pinto for the 8th and pray. Okay I'm reaching.

Christ Veras stinks. How long is Sanches out for?

I hope there are some AAA/AA callups who can do the job this year.

Wood who worked a strong inning last night. Could have also mixed in Pinto or gone to Veras to start an inning. Would have been much better than using a long reliever.

And it's ridiculous because that's not his position. MRP with runners on trying to stop a rally in a close game is not his position.

And before you accuse, I haven't been critical of Fredi only in hindsight. I call him on moves before the result happens, good or bad. It's usually bad though because I'm usually right because common sense eludes this "manager".
