Well I don't know if that's true, but he's right this time. Sinkbeil was supposed to be something, and he consistently gets more attrocious with every passing year.

Really though, I don't think anyone should worry about Skipworth. A .742 OPS isn't the best, but he's still young and getting better. Progress is all we can ask for.

Yeah, exactly. Saying there's progress doesn't say much either, he was just really horrible his first two years. The only thing I like is that it seems like he's finally drawing some walks.

Stanton hit another HR on Thursday night in a 2 for 4 outing for his 10th of the season.

 

VandenHurk had a tough outing in Triple A... 3 innings, 9 hits, 7 ER, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts.

My hope is that Hurk is trying to work on new things and this is growing pains.

That's a pretty hopeless looking effort by Andrew Miller. I have to assume he's working on things and that's why his numbers are so bad (otherwise...........well, I don't really want to think about that :blink:).

I mean... what happened? I can't recall details, but he was a dominant college pitcher correct? Clearly his delivery worked back then, but what... he was tipping his pitches in the majors? Hitters found it too easy to hit him? All I know from watching him these last few years is... he can't throw strikes with any kind of consistency and his fastball isn't anywhere near the speed that it was supposed to be. Then we hear all the time "We've changed Miller's delivery etc." and yet he still can't throw strikes. Does it reach a point where it becomes "go back to what worked for him in college" or is that just not going to cut it in the majors for some of the above reasons?

Probably a mix of him being rushed to the majors and teams constantly messing with his delivery.

 

Also, I believe the Marlins have gone to the "go back to what worked in college" approach...that didn't work.

He had problems throwing strikes in college. He was fine his junior year but as a freshman and sophomore he averaged close to 5 walks per 9 innings.

Just because he's right sometimes doesn't mean he's not an incredibly negative person.

 

It's just impressive to me how he finds the negative in all things.
