May 30, 201016 yr Oh figures he throws a perfect game vs us he just said he talked to Moyer about how to pitch us.
May 30, 201016 yr In the Marlins defense this umpire was sh*tty as hell tonight and seemed favorable to the Phillies as Halladay got more calls on the corners then johnson did and it was pretty obvious. Still we shouldve been able to manage a few hits no matter who the pitcher is and honestly we should have destroyed plenty of pitches Halladay served up.
May 30, 201016 yr We live by the sword and we die by the sword, we have a offense to hit home runs, we cannot scratch out single runs, Maybin come tomorrow and hit a home run and we win, everyone will be saying he is a beast
May 30, 201016 yr Okay yeah calm down guys we cant pin this solely on Maybin. 11 other batters all failed to get a hit. Or draw a walk. Or get on base in any fashion. Or swing at pitches. Or think about swinging at pitches.

Or think about swinging at pitches. Maybin lost the game, defensively. Just as he lost it last night. He deserves blame. Everyone loves to bash the bullpen; perhaps it's time to start really bashing the worst outfield in baseball, right now (at least 2/3 of it has absolutely sucked).

Or think about swinging at pitches": Kinda hard to decide what to do when the same pitch is both a ball and a strike.

Never blame Cody Second, yes, it is a reason to be upset. it is a reason to say that Maybin should be gone. It, howver, is not a reason to say we lost. How can you blame Maybin for letting up 1 run when the Marlins failed to even reach base on 27 plate appearances? The bats were to blame. Regardless of how good a guy like Halladay is... and how well he pitched... a perfect game is almost always to the responsiblity of the batters.
May 30, 201016 yr Congrats to Doc, I love watching him pitch and I admire his work ethic. He has to be my favorite non-Marlin player. As for the Fish... I'm disgustingly embarrassed. Im embarrassed that JJ pitched a gem and gets nothing for it... I'm embarrassed that we only gave up one run and it came on a dreadful Maybin error... I'm embarrassed by how many Philly fans were in attendance, making the last two innings feel like a Philly home game... and I'm embarrassed at our non-existent offense... I understand how great Doc is, but this is embarrassing because of the crappy week we've had. If we took the Braves series and won last night, Id be enjoying this historic moment right now. But history or not, Im a Marlins fan, this cannot feel good right now for me. Lastly though, I leave you all with a great quote... Sometimes you have to fall incredibly low before you can really start looking up. ...Its a long season, tomorrow is a new day, and thats the beauty of baseball. Tip the hat to Doc...we hit rock bottom, now we must climb back up. I fully expect the Marlins to pick up and improve beginning at 1:10 tomorrow afternoon. Someone already said that the Rays have done just fine after Braden's game... let's go Fish! A setback is also a setup to a comeback.
May 30, 201016 yr I think we should stop trying to blame the empire, it is the batting lineup, Maybin error was in the third inning, we had six inning to get a run.

Unless Fredi was the one telling them to literally not swing... how in God's name is it Fredi's fault that the players cant swing a bat and make contact for a hit? Are you judging the umpires call decisions? Give me a break that is an issue every single night in every single game what makes this game any different? And if your amazing logic to the whole walks with Halladay made any sense why would they be trying to NOT swing at pitches? If they know they are not going to get a walk why would they get caught looking 6 times in one game? Of which 4 were on a full count.
May 30, 201016 yr I think we should stop trying to blame the empire, it is the batting lineup, Maybin error was in the third inning, we had six inning to get a run. Spot on. The umpire didnt decide this game. Maybin surely influenced it, but he didnt decide this game. The fact that the players were unable to do anything offensively is what decided this game. Josh Johnson giving up 1 run (unearned) is a gift in itself. Asking our offense to put up a less than par 2 runs (what is the mean for runs per game like 2.5 to 3 right?) is not much to ask.
May 30, 201016 yr At least I got to see a perfect game in person. Man, they are going to give me SO much sh*t when I'm in Philly in a couple weeks. Hell, they way it lines up right now it will be JJ vs Roy.

How do you not instruct the entire dugout to lean in to pitches (or just not make a huge effort to dive out of the way) especially after the Hanley AB?
May 30, 201016 yr We need help. Props to Doc though. But we really need help. you said it dude......were in the shitter right now.....5 games out and need anibal to win tomorrow. no joke.
May 30, 201016 yr Really, some fire needs to be lit under some asses right now, and if this doesn't do it, it doesn't matter when you're calling up Stanton because Stanton's not a panacea and he's not going to be 50 HRs 120 RBIs when he gets here, which is what he'd have to be to make a difference with the team as it is right now. Plain and simple. Credit to Roy and the Phillies, but this kind of uninspired play cannot stand if they want to stay in it. I'm not a person who wants to shake everything to hell, but they've gotta' want it. Right now, they don't.

It was a routine catch...it was known that defense was needed tonight with 2 aces on the mound. The Marlins pitchers gave up nothing. Without the error, Roy Halladay just has a perfect game through 9, in a 0-0 ballgame. He also cost us a run last night, which was costly considering that, too, ended up being a 1 run loss. He deserves plenty of blame. Considering how much he sucks at the plate, he should be playing great defense out there (which all scouts said he'd become). Right now...he's just competing with Chris Coghlan to see who's worse.

Major league hitters actually have to be instructed to do this? This isn't Fredi Gonzalez fault. Players didn't hit. Heck, if you want to blame a coach...blame the hitting coach. Presley. I don't see how the coaches deserve blame, though.

Okay simply forgetting that we got blanked across the stat line today (in reference to the perfect game)... did the Marlins have a run? No. So how was the 1 run charged to Maybin what cost us the game again? Maybe there would be more of an argument here if we'd lost... 2-1? Maybe then the 1 run Maybin let up would be more of a case there. But still... we could've lost this game 5-0 all based off of errors... so long as we got a perfect game thrown against us those 5 runs mean nothing because the main stat is 0 runs. 100% of the time if you do not score a run you do not win the game. 100% of the time if you do not get 1 base you do not win the game. 99.999999999% of the time if you do not get a hit you do not win the game. This is just throwing numbers around... but... 90% of the time when you let up 1 run you win the game. Just sayin.

Major league hitters actually have to be instructed to do this? This isn't Fredi Gonzalez fault. Players didn't hit. Heck, if you want to blame a coach...blame the hitting coach. Presley. I don't see how the coaches deserve blame, though. It is impossible in every single way to blame Fredi Gonzalez in this situation. Fredi manages who plays. Not how well they play. If nobody (the entire team)plays well in an entire game (a.k.a. nobody gets on base) there is nothing he can do. And like said above. Fredi doesnt tell a player to lean in on pitches. They either do it themselves or they dont. Anyways... what is leaning in on a pitch? Nothing. It's the loweest way to get on base. The pitcher PUTS YOU ON. Getting no-hit is just as bad as getting perfect-gamed in my eyes if the no-hitter is from a beaned batter or error. If it's a BB that's different. I dont know why at that point any of those players were trying to draw walks. They should've been fouling off pitches left and right to their best abilities because they should've known Halladay was on tonight by the oh... 5th inning. They should've known to be swinging. What the hell is a walk gonna do? Do you think he's gonna walk more than 1 anyways? We needed hits and the fact that 6 batters stared at strike 3 all hoping for a ball on extremely borderline pitches is foolish.
May 30, 201016 yr Congrats to Halladay. The Marlins website says Johnson was as dominant as Halladay. 7 hits in 7 inns to 0 hits in 9 inns and 11 k's to 6 k's is not the same dont make me laugh. Johnson pitched good but he had base runners almost every inning. The offense scores no earned runs for the second night in a row. This year the starters are great and the bats stink. Stanton up and Coughlin down . We need step it up NOW.
May 30, 201016 yr Leaning into pitches to break up a perfect game makes the team look just as bad. The problem is that the team isn't hitting. There were three holes in the lineup for most of the night in addition to the pitcher (Coghlan, Maybin, Hayes). The Marlins didn't even have anyone on the bench and sent out Mike Lamb. There is a problem with team depth right now and it goes above Fredi's head.
