July 22, 201016 yr http://www.fanpop.co...z/links/3327095 Uh....what does Dragon Ball Z have to do with Inception?
July 22, 201016 yr Nolan stops short of telling the audience what exactly happens to that top, but Lindelof has an idea. "There is a THIRD possibility -- It neither stopped...nor kept spinning," he tweeted. "The story ended before either could happen." Wow... what an insightful interpretation! I mean, NOBODY thought about this. /s Seriously... it's comments like these that makes me stop wondering why Lost ended the way it did. Arrogant douche.
July 22, 201016 yr One thing which I'm sure the guys who made this film love, is that fact that it has created much discussion over the events in the movie. I can't remember a film in the last few years anyway that has promoted such differing opinions on what went on.
July 27, 201016 yr Author I saw the film recently and thought that it was pretty decent, but far from excellent. Some of the action scenes particularly involving: The snow fort assault...were pretty useless and probably hurt the film. Those scenes had no direction and had a bunch of anonymous extras shooting and getting killed and didn't add anything to the story, but actually slowed the film to a hault. It seemed like something that belonged in a James Bond film but not a cerebral thrillersuch as what this film attempted to be. The hotel zero gravity scenes were good as were the city shifting scenes, but anything involving gunfire in this film seemed like filler to keep mainstream audiences satisfied and helped them avoid having to think too hard. A lot of this should have been scrapped. That's one of my biggest complaints of the film. I also think that Ellen Page's character was unnecessary, misused, or perhaps both. Her character was deemed to be necessary for her architectural ability and need to construct "mazes." None of this was really realized explicitly in the film. This essentially made her character little more than a device through which the audience could understand how extraction/inception worked and some sort of "voice of reason" for Di Caprio's actions. That's not the most clever writing, in my opinion. I actually think it's pretty lazy. The fact that Di Caprio was also facing some of the same plot devices and characterizations that I just saw in the mediocre "Shutter Island" made Inception a bit more of a chore to get through than it otherwise could have been. Those are the negatives. It's not a terrible film, though. It has it's flaws, but is still clever, highly original, and intensely thought provoking. I'll weigh in on some of the interpretations when I have more of a desire to think some of this stuff out. Yeah Ellen Page's character was pointless, I tried to find a role for her but couldn't, I guess she was necessary to an extent but wish they would have done something else with her character. The gun fights were kinda lame but I was kind of expecting that, gun fights in PG-13 movies usually turn into a noise fest. I still loved the movie though, so I can forgive that. I think Nolan has shown he is good at appealing to a wide audience and is willing to throw stuff in the movie to keep the casual movie goers happy, I don't mind that, as long as he keeps coming up with screenplays like this one.
July 30, 201016 yr I gotta agree with el penguino on the final action scene, it really dragged that part out. I mean, I understand why they did it, but half of the things that went on there didn't even concern the reason they were there in the first place. But yeah, outside of that, I think Inception was one of the better films I've seen in a very long time. You have to love a movie that gets you excited to go to sleep.
August 2, 201016 yr Author I strongly recommend the film Dark City (1998) if you liked Inception. As I said earlier, Total Recall is probably closer to Inception thematically and in terms of action/suspense, but Dark City is much better crafted and more thought provoking. I have been on the verge of watching this a couple of times, but for one reason or another I have put it off, I will definitely make time for it now.
August 2, 201016 yr Dark City doesn't have enough explosions and gunfights penguino, you know that. One of my favorites, a little too cheery though. Saw Inception yesterday and really enjoyed it. Easily the best film I've seen lately although sadly I haven't seen a ton of new movies this year. Agreed about Juno though, her character seemed tacked-on.
August 17, 201016 yr This is one of my favorite movies ever. The way it ends is annoying at first, but I think that's what makes the movie interesting. How it ends depends on the audiences' opinion and imagination. Whatever it is, I don't think it matters if the last scene is limbo or reality, his wish finally come true and that's a happy ending, isn't it?
August 17, 201016 yr Nope. In the Asian dude's dream, it is a happy ending. Leo still needs to find happiness in reality.
