Can we please trade Jorge Cannot?

He's become useless, however. He is now as useless offensively as he has always been defensively. He single-handedly ruined the team's great momentum tonight. Certain people like him, yet fact is, he's been Bonifacio bad the last 3 months.

 

His trade value now sucks. Quite frankly, I don't care. Trade him tonight back to Mexico for some free fan giveaway tequila shots for the rest of the year, to deal with games like this in an easier fashion.

 

Cantu...err, Cannot...sucks. He's become Mike Jacobs. At least Jacobs had power.

Yes trade him preferably to Texas who's showed much intrest in him and need him to play 1st base and be a backup at 3rd, we could get something decent in return for him and for the main part of it all will be able to call up LoMo.

MMP is right, we can still get a decent enough player for Cantu. We can use past success as leverage I guess, and get a good enough prospect. Hey, we got Ceda for KG.

Cantu is not worth much, regardless of their situation. They don't even want Cantu as a starter; I think they want him to platoon at 1B. The return won't be all that good. Just getting rid of Cantu, however, makes this team better. Sort of like Mike Jacobs when we traded him...only we were fortunate enough to trade with a dumbass team like the Royals who gave us a Leo Nunez in return. That's the reason the Royals haven't won in years. Not every organization is that dumb.

Cantu pretty much has a -WAR the past 3 months, isn't getting any younger, and is a free agent at the end of the year. The decent return is the fact that we get to replace him with Logan Morrison for the rest of the year, just by getting rid of him.

Absolutely. The whole trade him to Mexico thing was a joke, obviously. He's been really bad the past 3 months of the season. A 3B who plays attrocious defense, and is .OPS'ing under .700 for 3 months...hopefully the other teams ignore that a bit, and look at his RBI's the last 2 years or something.

I know there are a lot of people pushing for LoMo. I don't know enough the minors to really comment. But I do have a question. Donnie is a SS I understand. I have read here that he hit fairly well in the minors and obviously he hasn't done half bad since he was promoted. :notworthy Does Donnie have any experience at third? Or his potential is just a bench player? If he has potential at 3rd, why not try him out before we promote another? Just asking. :whistle

He's going to be 28. He isn't old like you make him sound.

 

The decent return we can get from the Rangers comes from the fact that their farm system is deep. We won't get anything major back in return, but something that's solid.

I said recently and I wasn't being facetious that Cantu's greatest contribution to this team right now may be freeing up his roster spot for someone who can contribute.

 

Perhaps luckily for me I was in an airport concourse when the eighth inning rolled around so aside from second-hand accounts I'll have to wait for the 2am replay of the game to see exactly happened.

Murphy has plenty of experience at 3rd throughout his career but he's not going to put up solid numbers offensively to where he can be an everyday starter.

He plays good defense and should be a great bench player for us but Morrison is the answer.

LoMo is a line drive gap to gap hitter who can hit .300 and have an OBP of .380 and higher, he has some power probably no more then 15 HRs a year but he should get on base tons, score runs and hit plenty of doubles.

I just can't handle that absurd mental error (the 2nd one). That one put me through the roof.

My point is the fact that he's not exactly a player that you can say "well, he's got some potential." This is who he is. Probably a bit better with the bat, but he's not good defensively, and for a corner infielder, his production has always been average, at best.

 

The fact that he's a free agent at the end of the year means a lot, as well. It only lessens his value even more.

I didn't say this is what he can do out of the gate, I said it's what he can do in the future.

FTR, I missed the *no* more than 15 HR a year. But as I said, I did figure you were thinking that was his future projection.
