But I'm assuming that Lomo is gonna play. You just don't bring up a 22 year old to sit that bench, it usually isn't good for either party. Which begs the question of how comfortable the team is with Bonifacio playing some third...
July 27, 201015 yr Mine happened for really no reason. Those tears don't heal so I had to have surgery because it folded upon itself. I couldn't fully extend my leg so I didn't have any choice but have it done.
July 27, 201015 yr Thank God we're seeing Morrison up. Now who bats leadoff? This helps the Cantu trade because you know the organization now wants Bonifacio at 3B, leading off everyday. Especially since he's having his fluke week of games here; he's going to get another chance. Quite honestly, I could care less. Bonifacio > Cantu right now. At least Bonifacio can move at 3B. Cantu has no range, and doesn't even make the plays he's supposed to make because he can't throw, either. He's also not hitting, of course.

I wouldn't hate Gaby/Logan/Hanley/Uggla at the top of the lineup tbh, even right off the bat. I believe in Logan's OBP skills.

Coghlan wasn't going to move to 3B right away, had Cantu been traded and he (Coghlan) had stayed healthy. Helms and Donnie Murphy might get some chances, too.
July 27, 201015 yr If they had brought up a 3rd baseman to sit the bench, it may have given us a clue about Cantu. But maybe they were afraid to keep Boni in LF because he can play so many bases. I was hoping this move had to do with Can'tu
July 27, 201015 yr Bonifacio won't hit this well down the stretch but I think he can match Cantu's production especially when you consider how bad defensively Cantu is at 3B. It sucks that Coghlan has to go down but this really simplifies the Marlins' options right now.

When it comes down to it, a leadoff hitter needs to do one thing in particular- get on base and get the offense rolling. The idea of needing a speedy leadoff hitter is fairly outdated, although the ideal leadoff hitter would have that. The thing that would probably hold this up is the fact that if Bonifacio is in the lineup, it would be crazy to have him anywhere but leadoff. Assuming he's gonna be starting at least a certain percentage of games going forward, I wouldn't want Gaby being shifted in and out of leadoff.
July 27, 201015 yr This is awesome news that Logan has been brought up. For a team that has such a tendency to strike out, his approach and OBP (.427) will do wonders. To think, LoMo has walked more times than he has struck out this season (48 BBs to 35 SOs). Also....hopefully 1) CC will be back as soon as possible 2) Cantu will be traded as soon as possible
